After eating at the nearby Legend Restaurant, I noticed this shop because of the colourful banners where I spotted this bowl of green dessert that I thought was Green Tea dessert.
However on a closer look it turned out to be Grounded Pistachio dessert which Menty told me about a few days ago, then when I looked at the name of this dessert shop, it was indeed Hoi Kee.
I have walked past the Mong Kok branch numerous times but I never went in because the MK branch was just grey and boring.
The menu at that time only had Chinese desserts then, perhaps it may have changed now but looking at the MK reviews I cant see any of the new desserts.
Anyway went in with the Grounded Pistachio dessert in mind, but when I looked at the menu there were so many other items I wanted to try as well, so there shall be more visits.
The desserts at this place was not just traditional Chinese sweet soups but they had other desserts with colourful product shots which were really tempting to try such as:
Purple rice and mochi
+++++++++++++++++++++
Peach and tofu pudding
+++++++++++++++++++++
Berry merry
+++++++++++++++++++++
Not only was the menu colourful the decor of this shop was modern.

Grounded Pistachio dessert
I do not usually go for these grounded Chinese desserts but because it was pistachio I tried it.
There was a choice of hot or cold and I really regret not ordering it cold because when it is hot I keep burning my tongue and cannot taste it properly.
When it did finally cool down, I found it delicious because it tasted really nutty and you can taste the savouryness of the pistachio.
The pistachio had been grounded really fine and it was not lumpy.
The pistachio pieces on top gave it some depth.
After stirring it vigorously to cool the consistency did not change, it still remained thick hence its high heat capacity.
Although it was delicious I would have preferred it in pudding form because I am still not quite used to Chinese desserts which are in liquid/paste form which involves "drinking" it.
For the take away version the pistachio is in a separate bag for you to add separately.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grounded Chestnut dessert:
Again I do not usually try these desserts but tried it as it was Chestnut, I did not expect it to taste nice because chestnuts are starchy and it did not taste as good as the chestnut paste in the Chestnut croissant at Le Salon.
I still feel that chestnut tastes better with roast dinners or French style.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Berries and yogurt with aiyu jelly
This was a cup of aiyu jelly at the bottom with natural yogurt on top with strawberries and blueberries.
I really appreciated that they used natrual yogurt which was sour and because the jelly at the bottom was sweet, the taste balanced out.
It tasted like greek yoghurt but the texture of the yogurt was not that thick.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pistachio snowflake ice
The snowflake ice tasted as good as the grounded pistachio dessert, there was strong pistachio flavouring in the snowflake ice, the texture of the snowflake ice was slightly sticky and viscous.
Initially it reminded me of sushi because the green colour and shape of the snowflake ice resembled wasabi, and the orange balls looked like salmon roe.
I thought the orange balls would be filled with liquid but they were solid cute balls of jelly.
The texture of those orange balls were like kanten, hard firm jelly and there was a faint taste of mango which was quite artificial, but eating the glutinous rice balls together with the snowflake ice and those orange balls were delicious and the whole dessert was not too sweet.

Reviews from supersupergirl on openrice for Hong Kong and Macau restaurants
[Review 1885] Interesting sizzling steak @ Legend Restaurant 麗晶餐廳

Saw the photos from the previous review and the sausage looked interesting.
It looked like two huge slices of vietnamese sausage so I had to check it out.
Again I got to To Kwa Wan by ferry from North Point and this restaurant is right next to this Chocolate shop that sells Venchi chocolates and fruit covered chocolates.
Apart from the sizzling steaks I also wanted to try the fried egg with their secret recipe soy sauce.
Although the decor was quite modern, this restaurant feels really old just like those "bing suts".
Pity I did not take photos of the drinks/kitchen area.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soup:
Interesting square bowl!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Toast:
Although it was strange being given a piece of toast it was much better than those nasty sweet buns given with the soup at least the toast was savoury.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beef steak Chinese wok style and spicy sausage:
There were two slices of sausage and four big pieces of beef steaks underneath the sausage.
The beef steak was good because it was tender and had no beef taste, but for people who like beef they can choose the beef sirloin.
But since I am not a beef lover I chose this one as there was less beef taste.
Luckily the sausage was not spicy but there were lots of chopped pieces of green peppers and red peppers in it.
The sizzling style platter can also be served on a plate so next time I will ask for a plate and the gravy will not get evapourated.
As for the fries I preferred the ones shown on the previous photo because they did not have so much oil in it.

[Review 1884] Tuscani pizza series Part 2: Portobello passion @ 必勝客 Pizza Hut

After trying the BBQ Sausage Bonanza pizza from the TUSCANI range, this time I decided to try the Portobello passion.
I just ordered the pizza on its own because it only costs $138 without the set.
I ordered the pizza for pick up at the branch because there was 10% off.
Arrived and the pizza was ready to collect, they even open the pizza box in front of you to show that you have the right pizza before you go.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Portobello passion:
As expected, it tasted nicer than the BBQ Bonanza because it was not so sweet as there was no bbq sauce or tomato sauce.
However it was slightly burnt and the portobello mushrooms went dark easily.
On the pizza there were evident pieces of camembert. I was surprised the middle part did not melt.
The Tuscani pizza base was chewy and not crispy and hard like the regular ones.
The pizza was really delicious because mushrooms and chicken always taste good together.
Although it was made with pesto sauce, it tasted like Rosemary and there was no pesto taste..
The texture of the camembert was slightly hard and the surface looked like it had been grilled because I was expecting the centre to be creamy and runny but it was like grilled burnt cheese.

[Review 1883] Extra serving of noodles and pickled ginger @ 一風堂 Ippudo HK

Before going to the Arome Bakery Room Tasting event, I had to eat some food before eating sweet food so I dined here because it was right next to ABR.
I ordered the Wasabi tonkatsu.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Wasabi tonkatsu:
The noodles were rather disappointing this time because the broth was bland and it did not have the initial impact that the wasabi gave me on my first visit. The wasabi was so weak this time that it did not give a stinging sensation to my throat. Last time I could smell wasabi from the soup and this time I could not.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Extra serving of noodles:
I was quite hungry so ordered more noodles.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pickled ginger:
Last time I had the pickled ginger and loved it but there were no photos, so here is a photo of the pickled ginger.
The pickled ginger was still consistently good and tasted salty and sour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Opening photos thanks to IVYCWK:
Since IVYCWK knew I was going to eat at Ippudo before the Arome Bakery Room tasting event, she passed me these photos to post on my review.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I will come again when only when they have some special broths or seasonal specials.
Badges that they gave out during the opening.

[Review 1882] The Cat at the new and bigger Kung Chiu restaurant @ 拱照車仔麵 Kung Chiu Noodle
拱照車仔麵 Kung Chiu Noodle
灣仔機利臣街1號地舖
G/F, 1 Gresson Street, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/the-cat-at-the-new-and-bigger-kung-chiu-restaurant-e2263780
Previously this branch and their cat were located on Queens Road East.
I wanted to try that branch but it looked like everything was fast moving so I never went in there.
Recently they moved to Gresson Street and the restaurant seemed more approachable because of the large glass windows and the pink shop front.
There is always lots of people in there and they have this interesting ticketing system at the front.
The cat is also there occasionally and there are photographs of it on the wall.
The food is really good and you can ask for extra rice if you need it, which I did once and the second round they gave me a generous amount, but luckily I finished most of it because the soy sauce and food was delicious.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Scrambled egg with BBQ:
The scrambled egg with BBQ pork was delicious but it can be inconsistent, on some days it tastes so heavenly on other days it would just taste ordinary!
When it is heavenly it tastes as good as the scrambled egg at Shun Hing in Tai Hang.
The amount of roast pork that they give is generous and it is nice and lean as well.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken steak in sweetcorn cheese sauce:
The cheese sauce was not heavy because this is a Chinese style restaurant.
There was sweetcorn in it as well and the cheese that they used was the powdered type which does not have strong cheese smell.
I was surprised to find clams in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Noodles:
This is good once in a while because it is quite oily.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sauces:
Even though their food is delicious they have a good variety and different brands of sauces.
The double soy sauce was the best, it was so good that I needed extra rice.
