grounded pistachio dessert $24:
Last time I had delicious desserts at the To Kwa Wan branch so I decided to get the pistachio dessert again at the Mong Kok branch, however the dessert here was lumpy and it was too sweet and lacked that delicious pistachio taste that it did in the To Kwa Wan.

As for the presentation it looked nothing as good as the TKW branch and there was dessert overflowing on the side of the bowl.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
The dessert at the Mong Kok branch did not fare as good as the To Kwa Wan branch.
The interior was not as good as the To Kwa Wan branch, although the lights were the same.
The menu was also not as extensive as the TKW branch too.

When I walked past this place, the bright pink immediately stood out.
It reminded me of Bentopia especially the clear bag that holds the clear tubs of salads.

The napkins were really SASSY too, as if was written by lipstick saying "CALL ME" and I love the lipstick mark too!!!

I have always wanted to try Alvin Leung's creations at Bo Innovation but I never quite made it, anyway this place is at street level and easily accessible.

They specialise in healthly food with a mix of Japanese, Chinese and Western cuisine and there is a hint of gastronomy in there as well.

They serve salads, sushi burritos or you can get the combo which is a full salad and a half portion of sushi burrito.

There are four salads each with its own attractiveness, however there were two that won me, the Salty Lemon with seared salmon and the Unami Nicoise.

The first salad which was the Demon black caesar had a slight gastronomic touch because it had bacon flavoured chicken and black garlic dressing hence the name black caesar. I wanted to try this one but I have already eaten black garlic before.

The second salad was the Iconic true 8, which has a meaning behind the name, iconic because they used an iconic vinegar from HK called PAT CHUN which has the letter eight, hence the 8 in the Iconic 8!

The third salad is the Go Green which is plain vegetarian.

The fourth salad is the Unami Nicoise which got my attention because of the word Unami and the unami vinaigrette. I really wanted to try this because in UK there is a sauce called Unami No 5 so I wanted to see if the taste would be similar to that. This salad also had "Har -Mi" powder (grounded dried shrimps I think) which was another factor I had to get this salad.

The fifth salad which was Salty Lemon and seared salmon I had to get as well because I am a lemon freek and in the salad there are crispy pieces of seaweed which I like too!

If you don't like salads they have SUSHI BURRITO as well which is more filling, it is sushi wrapped in burrito. There is a BLT sushi burrito which is bacon, lettuce and tomato with rice in a burrito wrap or the Hot sichuan chick which is obviously spicy and the 3B Beef and black bean too with shichimi dust!!

For the sushi burrito I chose the Cantonese steamed fish and the Vegetarian taco trio.

When the salads were ready, I was so eager to collect it and it felt really cool carrying it about because the bag and packaging was really nice.

I feel really guilty my photos are not as good as my usual food photos but this time I just couldn't wait to dig in the salad that I rushed taking these photos.

Anyway I will get Beautifood again so there will be more photos.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Unami Nicoise:

I really loved the "har mi" powder that was sprinkled on it, the prawns were fresh and the dressing was really moreish.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salty lemon and seared salmon:

I really loved this salad and there was generous dressing to cover every leaf in the salad.
The dressing was really refreshing that you felt hungrier after finishing it!
The crispy pieces of seaweed in the salad had this savoury taste which also made it moreish.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vegetarian Taco trio:

I chose this one because they were tofu pockets, I never eat these in Japanese restaurants because they just taste sweet.
The ones here were different because they were filled with goodies.
Three all veg yuba tacos filled with roasted pumpkin with cream cheese, eggplant with yellow miso and porcini mushrooms with onion cream.

This was really fun biting into all these yummy fillings especially the porcini mushrooms with onion cream which had a delicious crisp crunch to it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cantonese steamed fish:

This was steamed sea bream, green onion lime sauce, grated ginger, carrots, cucumber, homemade soya sauce with DC's healthy rice mix in a seaweed wrap.
The fish was so silky and the green onion lime sauce looked so gastronomique.
The only thing I was not expecting was chili because it didnt say there was chili on the order form and it was no ordinary chili either, it was extremely hot chili!!
The green lime sauce had so many tastes to it that you cant get enough of it.

Apart from the chili, it was so delicious, there was mentaiko on top of the rice roll.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

After finishing the salad I knew I was still going to be hungry, but on the napkin it had a quote "eat 80% full and you will have a happier and healthier life" which is agreeable but since it was so delicious it was a bit hard to agree because I WANT MORE BEAUTIFOOD!!!
I'll be back!

[Review 1897] Not very friendly since my last visit @ 知己咖啡站 Friends Cafe

Since my last visit, the prices have gone up from $28 to $32 and the staff here were not that friendly.
Ordered the chicken curry and paid for it, when she gave me the change she slammed it on the table.
I think she got defensive because I was taking photos, hence I did not bother taking good shots of the place or the food.
So I will be brief with this review.
Anyway this joint is a popular pick but its weird that there are not many reviews on this place.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cream of spinach soup:
The spinach soup tasted really grassy and salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken curry:
The weirdest curry I have had. There was cracked black pepper and green peppers in it.
The taste was very peppery with green peppers and the chicken was weirdly soft that it disintegrates.
I think they put all these peppery items to cover the frozen chicken taste.

[Review 1896] Best Western Chinese style comfort food @ 友膳坊 Charlie's Place

友膳坊 Charlie's Place

I always come here for Chinese food because it is the same style as the Chinese food served in UK.
Apart from me, there are lots of expats and overseas born Chinese that dine here.
Their menu layout and the way they list the items are also similar to the restaurants/takeaways over there.
There are pictures on the wall which were put up recently.
Anyway, all the dishes here are the ones you can find in UK apart from the soup noodles which I also decided to post because they were delicious as well.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soup:
The soup was interesting because it was really clear and there was ginger in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Duck with pancakes:
This is different to the local Peking duck served in Chinese restaurants in Hong Kong.
The duck actually has meat and the pancake sauce has a strong bean taste which is not the Sweet sauce that you find served with chow meins or rice rolls.
The pancakes are made by them.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Duck chow mein:
Here the noodles are soft and not fried so there are no crispy bits and in the chow mein they have put onions and green peppers which makes it taste and smell aromatic.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken with lemon sauce:

Although it was slightly burnt, the chicken was coated in light cornstarch batter and together with the lemon sauce it tasted like the lemon chicken in uk.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Kung po prawns:

This is similar to the sweet and sour but there are chilis in it. The chilis that they used were dehydrated and different.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Laksa:

Although this was not comfort food, it was delicious. The broth was extremely strong. The sambal sauce that they put on the noodles is really spicy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Duck with dongguai soup noodles:

Another bowl of noodles that taste great too.
You can see there are so much herbs in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
The curry and the mongolian beef is also good.

[Review 1895] Frankly delicious hotdogs @ The Frank

On my way to Arome Bakery Room, I saw this bright chic hot dog joint which also serves Yo Mama because the Frank's founder was also the founder of Triple O’s burgers and Yo Mama’s frozen yogurt.
They have a wide variety of hot dogs and different franks.

Drinks can be added for an extra $10 if you order any hotdog.
I chose The All Day Breakfast and The Tokyo hotdog which were both chicken.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
The All Day Breakfast:

This was my favourite, there was scrambled eggs and potato chips on top,
I did not like the chicken frank because the skin was too tough.
But the the egg and sausage and ketchup was a good combination.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
The Tokyo:

This hotdog had a japanese touch to it with sesame mayonnaise and sesame sprinkled on it.
The taste of this hotdog was slightly too sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
English breakfast tea
The tea bags they used were STASH's English Breakfast Black tea.
Since it was black tea, the taste was slightly stronger.

[Review 1894] Not quite a scotch egg @ Izumi Curry

Came here again because of the cheese and scotch egg
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Homemade hamburger steak curry:

The beef was patty was awful, it was full of elastic bits in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Scotch egg curry rice with extra cheese:

When it arrived I realised it was not going to taste nice because the scotch egg did not have sausage meat around it.
The scotch egg had beef patty around it, which was the same as the patty in the hamburger steak.
The patty was so bad that it had elastic bits in it that I wanted to throw up.
The eggs that they use at this restaurant are different because they have orange yolks which explains why their omelettes look really orange.
As for the cheese, it was delicious with the rice when hot, so I had to eat it quickly.
After the cheese had cooled down it was tasteless, hard and stringy.
