Sweet and sour fish:
The sweet and sour sauce was quite nice, not too sweet or sour but there were only a few pieces of fish.
I wish it came with plain rice but here if it comes with rice it is always brown rice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cold noodles with cucumber and shredded chicken:
The cold noodles were really refreshing but the chicken was quite tough.
There was lots of sauce, sesame seeds and spring onions.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
If you have been here before you'll know that the food comes relatively fast and they sometimes to get more customers by beating their copper gong!

[Review 1925] Wheatgrass shot @ Mana! Fast Slow Food

MANA! Fast Slow Food
中環威靈頓街92號
92 Wellington Street, Central
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/wheatgrass-shot-mana-fast-slow-food-e2266541
Initially I was attracted to this place because of the wraps, but I was full today so I could only order a drink.
The decor at this place is really nice, it reminds me the Aztecs.
They also promote recycling too with separate bins for specific items such as papers, plastics etc.
For those who are thirsty there is Sun Juice, filtered water from the self service tap with biodegradable cups.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Wheatgrass shot HKD40:
I loved the foam on top, however on my first sip it was sweet. I think I will ask for it not sweetened next time because I want to try it in its most natrual form because I was looking forward to a really grassy taste.
The taste was not that grassy because I have tried wheatgrass juice before in UK and this one was slightly different.
It tasted similar to seaweed.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Anyway I can't wait to try their other stuff soon and one of their drinks that has a paper straw.

[Review 1924] Delicious fragrant grilled chicken with herbs @ 香加雞專門店 Heung Plus Chicken

香加雞專門店 Heung Plus Chicken

G/F, 306 Electric Road, North Point
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/delicious-fragrant-grilled-chicken-with-herbs-e2266534
Found out about this place from ilovedisneylands review so I was really excited about this place because I am also a chicken lover too.
This place specialises in grilled chicken, steamed chicken, marinated chicken organs.
On their flyers it states that their chickens are sourced from an environmentally friendly chicken farm.
From the review I thought there were only two seats but when I got there it was bigger than I thought, there were about four tables.
The decor of the restaurant was quite interesting, it had pictures on the wall which I thought were quite southern American but I am not American so I could be wrong on which part of America it could be.
All was well, but there was no English menu yet!
There is a chicken set with rice or noodles but I couldnt be bothered to study the menu so I just ordered chicken a la carte.
In the cabinet, there were various grilled items which I forgot to take pictures of such as grilled wings, chicken legs etc.
Anyway I ordered the grilled chicken which came with lemon sauce.
Luckily they sliced the grilled chicken into slices for me and they gave me a fork too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled thyme flavoured chicken thigh:
The chicken was really tender and juicy and the skin was delicious.
I do not usually eat the skin but this one has been grilled so that the fat had already been burnt off.
Overall the chicken was quite good because it was not oily.
The thyme was not strong enough.
Although the seasoning such as salt and pepper were strong it was not as strong as the grilled chicken at Wing's which leaves you thirsty after taking the first bite.
The magic lemon sauce that came with it was cordial, the stuff that you use to make squashes with.
I mean magic because it balances out the saltiness and makes it really appetising.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
After I had the grilled chicken I realised they had chicken wings with different herbs which i didnt see earlier.
The chicken wings come in threes and it was really good they let me have three different flavours.
As all these herbs were in Chinese I hadnt a clue that they were thyme, basil and rosemary.
I recognised the basil as I have heard "lorlak" many times, but the rosemary herb in Chinese was really new to me because the chinese name seems to say "lost - mai sut"
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Thyme flavoured chicken wing:
This tasted the same as the grilled chicken.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Basil flavoured chicken wing:
Again the basil was not strong enough.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Rosemary flavoured chicken wing:
Same as above the rosemary was not that strong.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
As I was pretty sure the lemon sauce was lime cordial I asked if they could make it into a drink by adding water, and they did it for me.
I am sure they must have thought I was barmy but anyway it was a really good thirst quencher, my thirst was gone!
They should add this drink to the menu, it was much better than the other drinks they had and it was refreshing and sour just like those Thai iced lime drinks.
Anyway I'll be back and it would be great if they served roast potatoes on the side too

[Review 1923] All you can eat Japanese buffet @ 大喜屋日本料理 Daikiya Japanese Restaurant

6/F, M88, 2-8 Wellington Street, Central
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/all-you-can-eat-japanese-buffet-daikiya-e2266533
This is an all you can eat Japanese buffet that has sushis, grilled items, deep fried items, etc.
I have not dined here before but it seems that it has been rennovated.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled octopus jaws:
The octopus jaw itself was not bad but the sauce was extremely sweet and salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Stir fried octopus tentacles:
Really salty
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mini Sweet potatoes:
The mini sweet potatoes were really cute, some were sweet and were not some sweet with a dense starchy texture.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sweet potato tempura:
I was surprised they used the purple sweet potato for this but it was nice, but slightly too hard and it was quite sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Stir fried spinach and mentaiko:
The spinach was nice and tender but overall it was really salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Deep fried scallop:
I think they meant scallop surimi because it definitely was not a scallop.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Baked oyster:
The oyster was quite nice because the sauce was not that heavy and it had bits of onions in it.

[Review 1922] Sweetcorn with truffle @ Burger Mix

Burger Mix

Shop K5, Island Place, 51-56 Tanner Road, North Point
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/sweetcorn-with-truffle-burger-mix-e2266525
Came here just for the sweetcorn with truffle.
This restaurant is located at some food court in North Point which is more convenient than the other joint where there is no where to sit.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sweetcorn with truffle:
The sweetcorn was not sweetened which was good and it was piping hot.
The truffle was put on top of the sweetcorn and not mixed.
The sweetcorn tasted quite nice with the addition of truffle puree because it added some saltiness, however the truffle taste was not that strong but strong enough that you could recognise there was truffle in it.

[Review 1921] Lovely matcha slush with creamy vanilla soft serve @ Sweets House Cha Cha
29/10/2012
Sweets House Cha Cha
尖沙咀廣東道17號海港城3樓city'super內
city'super, 3/F, Harbour City, 17 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/lovely-matcha-slush-with-creamy-vanilla-soft-serve-e2266519
Previously this joint used to be Kasho Chaya and their desserts are almost similar to them except that they serve the Matcha smoothie and Warabi mochi as well.
I wanted to try the matcha drink at Kasho Chaya but it had been discontinued at the Causeway Bay branch.
So anyway, came here and got the Matcha drink with vanilla soft serve and warabi mochi.
All three wishes in one, the drink, the soft serve and the warabi mochi.
I was slightly disappointed because they didn't do any Halloween specials like they did last year or sell the Green Tea jelly cubes dessert cup like they do in the other branch.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Matcha drink with vanilla soft serve and warabi mochi HKD46:
There was a choice of green tea soft serve or vanilla. I chose the Vanilla because I didnt want double green tea.
Anyway as you can see, the warabi mochi was submerged in between the soft serve and the matcha smoothie.
I took of sip of the green tea smoothie and found it really slushy, however the slushed ice was quite coarse and the shape was similar to extremely tiny balls of ice.
The green tea taste was strong and it was slightly bitter so after mixing the soft serve, it was extremely nice and creamy.
The taste reminded me of Starbucks frappucino but the vanilla was much stronger and milkshake like.

[Review 1920] Are you a parfait lover or are you PaFe 怕肥? @ PaFe
28/10/2012
PaFe
銅鑼灣軒尼詩道555號崇光百貨地庫B2F
B2F, Sogo, Hennessy Road 555, Causeway Bay, Causeway Bay
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/are-you-a-parfait-lover-or-are-you-pafe-%E6%80%95%E8%82%A5-e2266125
After having the delicious apple pie tea at this Japanese restaurant I remembered this place also had the apple pie tea so came here for it.
I wanted to try the desserts too so I ordered the dessert first, luckily I did not order the dessert and the drink together because they gave me a $5 coupon so I was able to get the drink $5 cheaper! Yay.
The desserts here are basically Japanese style desserts split into four categories: Sundaes, Parfaits, Zenzais and Anmitsus.
Sundaes
This is soft serve on top of cornflakes with fruit and various different syrups depending on the one you pick.
The Chinese translation on their menu for Sundae is quite funny 聖代 "sing doi".
Zenzai
This is a scoop of flavoured icecream with dumplings and red bean paste.
Parfaits
This is a layered dessert with cornflakes, soft serve and fruit similar to the British knickerbocker glory.
I was really tempted to get the Hokkaido milk pudding and gelatine parfait.
Anmitsu
This is a scoop of flavoured icecream with kanten jelly and red bean paste
In the end I got the Tofu Zenzai because I was going to get the drink as well.
Although I am a person that likes parfait, je suis ne pas parfait.
But luckily I do not gain much weight despite my binges because a lot of Chinese people say they are Pa Fe in Chinese 怕肥 which means they cannot eat too much in case they gain weight.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu Zenzai:
This was a scoop of tofu flavoured icecream with dumplings and red bean paste drizzled with black honey syrup, topped with cream and a watermelon ball.
I did not like red bean paste so asked for it without.
The tofu ice-cream was too icy but the taste was ok, it tasted like Vitasoys soy milk which is light yet you can still taste the soy beans.
The dumplings were chewy and slightly sticky and the smaller coloured ones tasted exactly the same as the bigger ones.
The product picture shows three smaller dumplings pink, green and white and you get exactly the same as the product picture.
The warabi mochi was extremely soft and it was not too sweet.
It was quite funny the bowl was much bigger than what it was intended to hold.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
After I finished the dessert I used the $5 coupon on the drink.
While I was waiting at the counter I noticed a promotion that had already past, basically you get a free memo pad if you spend over $38.
Anyway I tried my luck and asked if they still had those pads and I was able to get one because including the drink I had spent over $38.
So don't forget to ask for yours if you spend over $38 as they don't seem to give them out actively unless you ask!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Apple pie tea:
If you have tried the one at the Japanese restaurant, this one does not taste anywhere near as good as that one.
This one could have tasted much better with cream.
The drink was basically the same except that it was much sweeter and the cinammon was really strong.
They also put young coconut jelly in it which was another factor that made the drink sweeter too.
However the tea taste was quite strong.
If it was not so sweet then it would have been perfect. The apple pie latte would probably be a better pick than the tea because there is coffee to balance out the sweetness.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
The displays at this joint were quite nice.
It also appears that their desserts are sold at the restaurant next door to it because while I was waiting, desserts were prepared at this joint and taken next door, same as that Kyoto Matcha Cafe place in TKO where their desserts are also served at the restaurant next door.
