Came here because they serve the steamed flounder fish.

I like the flounder fish because it is similar to the plaice which is not available in Hong Kong but both of these fishes are flat in appearance.
Not many restaurants seem to serve the flounder fish.

Steamed flounder fish:


As expected this fish was really nice, the taste and texture of the fish was delicate.
I have had it twice but sometimes the fish can have a fishy smell.

Stir fried chicken:

The chicken was really impressive, there were no bones and the pieces of chicken were huge.
The overall portion was quite big.
The spring onion sauce was nice and strong too.

Stir fried ribs:

This dish was quite interesting because they had potatoes in it too.
Although it was weird with potatoes, the potatoes tasted quite nice.
It was good the way the ribs were cut because the meat came off the bone easily.

Although some of their afternoon tea sets are not really Junchuanhu style, I still tried it anyway.

Chose two noodles.

Tomato and fried egg with noodles:


I really liked this because they put spinach in the noodles instead of other chinese vegetables that I do not like.
I liked the noodles they used, they were white and absorbed the broth easily.
The broth was tomato so it was quite refreshing.
The fried egg was just ordinary and I did not expect anything spectacular.

Chicken wings old chengdu style with noodles:

I thought the chicken wings would be spicy but they were not and the tofu was quite nice.
It was similar to tofu in brine.
The noodles were the same as above but the broth had more spices such as aniseed.

There was also chili oil available if it was not spicy enough.

Crispy salted roast pork belly hKD31:
This is another one of my favourites here, the salted roast pork belly is really similar to the one served at this Thai joint in Sai Kung.
The saltiness is just right and not as salty as you think.
There is an equal balance of fat in between the pork and the crispy skin.
The pork is really delicious because it is crispy and salty, and fat in the middle is chewy.
It reminds me of pork scratchings and with the chicken oil flavoured rice it was delicious.
Sometimes the pork can be dry, but it depends on if you are lucky or not.

Recently bought their pandan cake from their pop up stall at Diamond Hill and got addicted to it.

Found out from OpenRice that there is a shop at Mong Kok when I wrote the review so came here hoping to get the Pandan cake, however they only had the cookies and the dessert that day.

The cookie selection here was good, they had so many fun shapes and colours.
The flavours ranged from Seaweed to milk tea and of course my favourite pandan.

The cookies are sold by weight and you can specify how many of each flavour you want.

Pandan cookies:

I did not want to try the other flavours so I just got the Pandan flavour which is a butter based cookie.
The cookies were extremely crumbly and the balance of the butter and the flavouring was just right.

I don't often see these orange intestines being served in Roast Shops or maybe I havent been to places that serve them because I usually see them served on skewers as snacks.

Anyway I ordered the roast pork with these orange intestines which came with a drink.

As usual the food comes chop chop.

chop chop means fast and the chef literally chops the pieces and throws them in the box!

The roast pork was lean this time and not too dry.
Orange intestines:
The intestines were not bad, at least they did not smell and the marinade they used was quite nice especially the strong sesame taste.

Fried egg and spam with curry sauce HKD24:

Last time I had the pork chop which was a bit dry, so this time I had the fried egg and luncheon meat.
I love simple luncheon meat and fried egg.
Anyway the curry sauce was really light and not spicy at all, so it acted like a gravy and did not over power the yummy runny yolk in the fried egg.

Sweet and sour fish:
The sweet and sour sauce was quite nice, not too sweet or sour but there were only a few pieces of fish.
I wish it came with plain rice but here if it comes with rice it is always brown rice.

Cold noodles with cucumber and shredded chicken:


The cold noodles were really refreshing but the chicken was quite tough.
There was lots of sauce, sesame seeds and spring onions.

If you have been here before you'll know that the food comes relatively fast and they sometimes to get more customers by beating their copper gong!
