Got the Happy Meal because someone wanted the McD's Batman (launched in the US in 2011) so chose the Hamburger set which was the cheapest set at $15.

The hamburger was the most basic item on the Happy meal menu and most probably the first hamburger you ever ate in your life unless you lived nearer to a different burger chain than McDonalds.

The hamburger at this restaurant had a flame grilled taste, however there was not much sauce so it was quite dry.
Anyway it still brings back memories of eating a hamburger as a kid, unwrapping the hamburger which made a crisp paper noise.

This shop was opened about a month ago but as I am not really a fan of Chinese food I wasn't really bothered about trying it.
Walked past again and the bright white decor attracted me like how it did the first time, so this time I decided to try it as there was not many people inside.

Most people dine in restaurants that have long queues but sometimes I go for the quieter places because I am not rushed to order and the food quality is not sacrificed for speed.

They specialise in noodles, congee and glutinous rice.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Dried shrimp rice rolls:

Although this took a while to arrive, it was presented quite nice and it came with soy sauce and the other standard sesame sauce and bean sauce.
The rice rolls were a tad too soft but with the dried shrimp and spring onions it tasted ok.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Noodles with pork trotters:

When it came, you could tell the broth was quite strong so the noodles tastes nice after absorbing the broth and becoming soft, however the pork trotters were rather salty.
It was also difficult eating from this bowl because of the shape and size and the trotters could have been cut into smaller pieces.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Snack platter:

This was a platter of six snacks: 2 pieces of fried wontons, 2 pieces of fried dumplings and 2 pieces of fried dace balls.
Fried wontons:
In comparison to the dumplings it was much smaller.
Fried dumplings:
The dumplings tasted quite nice and the prawn filling inside was quite fresh.
Fried dace balls:
As usual these have grounded bones in it but it tasted better deep fried as well because it was not so fishy and it came with clam sauce too.
The clam sauce tasted like clams in fermented beancurd (fu yue).
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Hot ginger and barley drink:
The taste of barley could have been stronger but the ginger was nice and warmed you up.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Overall, the food here just tasted how it should but I thought it was quite expensive.
I also tried their oyster sauce which was not the Lee Kum Kee Brand but it was quite nice dipping it with the snack platter items and the rice rolls.
On the table there were various of other sauces too.

I am not a fan of localized Japanese food but sometimes when I am hungry and cant decide what to eat I will get a bento box from here.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fish cutlet and gyoza bento box:
As usual the set comes with pickles and rice.

Sometimes the fish is good and sometimes it is dry.

The scoop of potato that it comes with is delicious but it is too creamy and the sauce above the fish is made with Japanese mayonnaise.
The pickles vary as shown on the picture.
But personally I just like the fish only because the texture of the fish is quite firm supported by the cutlet coating.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Potato noodles with tofu:

Wanted to try the potato noodles so got them here, however the broth that it comes in is extremely hot.
I asked for the broth to be put in a separate bowl because if the noodles were in the broth it would soak up the spicy broth making it too spicy.
As well as the spices, there was a lot of MSG in the soup.
As for the potato noodles I could not taste any potato in it.
The tofu was marinated well that there was a strong marinade taste in it.

Basically this restaurant is located in a food court and you can pick two items with rice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Scrambled egg:
I always come here for the scrambled egg which is always soft and supple.
The scrambled egg taste is always intense and it is not overcooked.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu:
The tofu had a nice crisp coating and a soft inside.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ginger and vinegar braised pork trotters:
The pork trotters were quite nice but too hairy.

[Review 1939] The Mathy collection of best dishes @ 麥菲茶餐廳 Mathy Cafe

This restaurant was quite amazing, anything and everything under the sun could be found here.
They did Chinese dishes, noodles, and even their fries were delicious.
Some of the items they used for the dishes were quite interesting such as dried fishes and thousand layer tofu (chin chaang tofu).

However the food does not taste as good as it used to be so I am just compiling a collection of the good dishes that I had.

Hopefully one day it will taste as good as it used to be.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fries:

Although there is nothing spectacular and interesting about the fries, I felt that the quality of the fries here were quite good.
Each and every one was uniformly fried and there were no bruises or burnt bits.
They were golden yellow and fried just right.
They tasted really similar to the fries McDonalds use but the frying oil was different.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Spinach noodles:
 0 讚好

Instead of boring noodles they had green spinach noodles and there was no MSG in the soup.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf:
 0 讚好

 0 讚好

This is served for breakfast. The glutinous rice was a bit soft but the filling was quite nice and not too salty.
I liked the way they wrapped it with an extra piece of wax paper as it keeps the lotus leaf fragrance and makes the glutinous rice more fragrant.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sweet and sour thousand layer tofu:
 0 讚好

It was really good they used thousand layer tofu for this because when you bite into the tofu, the gaps in the tofu layers absorb the sweet and sour sauce.
The texture of this tofu is quite meaty.
Apart from sweet and sour style they also do fried Salt and Pepper style thousand layer tofu.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Stir fried chives and deep fried little fishes:
 0 讚好

Usually these tiny fishes are served as starters with peanuts but here they were stir fried with chives.
The strong taste of chives and the little fishes tasted good together.
However it did not taste as nice as the first time because the fishes were over done this time.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salt and pepper fish tofu:
 0 讚好

This was a tofu patty made by mashing tofu with fish and then deep fried and cooked with Salt and Pepper.
I liked it because the tofu and fish tasted fresh and delicate.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Iceburg lettuce and inmitation abalone slices in abalone sauce:

The iceburg lettuce was delicious and it tasted natrually sweet. The abalone gravy was extremely generous and the inmitation abalone slices were sweet too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Braised pork trotters in Red beancurd:
Again my favourite dish, but sometimes the trotters were too soft.
The peanuts were lovely and soft too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beancurd sheets with preserved egg and salted egg:
Not the usual combination but I liked this combination.
The beancurd sheets and loofah got its flavour from the salted egg, whilst the loofah enhanced the sweetness in the dish.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cauliflower and broccoli with cheese:
This was really delicious. Although it is not authentic I liked the way they put pieces of ham into it.
The cheese taste had been localised so it was quite pleasant and not that cheesey.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steamed egg:

Nicely steamed egg with rich soy sauce on top.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

[Review 1938] Prawn and pumpkin pasta @ 金裝燉奶佬餐廳 Daniel's Restaurant

As always the food here is quite reasonable.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Prawn and pumpkin pasta:

The pasta was al dente and it had a fair amount of pumpkin and prawns.
The sauce was not really creamy but it was quite savory.
There was also lots of courgettes and mushrooms, however the courgettes could have been softer.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grass jelly sago:

The grass jelly came with the pasta and the sweetness was just right.
The pieces of ice in the desserts were quite big and kept the grass jelly well chilled.
