Stumbled across this private Japanese restaurant after having dinner. It is located above a Japanese shop selling Japanese items.

Last time I was at this shop, the shopkeeper did not mention there was a private restaurant above so I never found out about it.

Anyway, they had a variety of desserts so I just went in for desserts.

The décor was quite nice, I had the same feeling as I walked into Revolution because it was quite different to other restaurants and I had already dreamt of dining in a restaurant like this so it was a bit weird.

There were basically five desserts on the menu: Milk pudding, tofu pudding, coffee jelly, caramel pudding and Fuji apple jelly.

I was tempted to try the apple jelly but I had a feeling it would taste artificial so I got the coffee jelly and milk pudding.
After I had the two puddings I decided to get the tofu pudding as well because I was too lazy to dine here again.

The desserts reminded me of the desserts at Wasakuraya in Happy Valley.

Apart from desserts they had rice sets and sashimi.

Although this place is listed on OpenRice as Sakura, it is actually Yaezakura and the Chinese name is Baatchungfa.
When you sit down, they give you a pot of wheat tea which they say is good for you.

Milk pudding:

The milk pudding was really smooth and the sweetness was just right.
The appearance of it was lumpy, most probably because the surface of the mold was lumpy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
UCC coffee jelly:

The coffee jelly on its own without adding cream or syrup was really bitter.
It tasted exactly like black coffee made into jelly. The jelly was the firm type.
The tiny metal jug of cream was really cute and after mixing the cream and syrup the coffee jelly tasted nice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu pudding:

The tofu pudding was the best, the texture was interesting, it dissolved into liquid when you put it in your mouth.
I tried it without adding the black sugar syrup and it was savoury. I also tried the syrup and it was really nice too.

[Review 2020] Custard puffs @ 櫻島麵包餅店 Sakurashima Bakery

The custard puffs looked good at Sakirashima bakery when I walked past so came back another day to get them.
There were only two remaining so I just got one.
The custard puffs were only $3.5 each and were kept in a chilled cabinet.

The custard inside the puff was really silky just like creme brulee. Since it was chilled the custard puffs were refreshing to eat with cool custard oozing out.

The sweetness was just right too and the puff was not too buttery.

I am now tempted to try the chocolate cream puff!

I found this place last week but as I was just finishing a scoop of ice cream, I was too full for more food so decided to try it another time.

As you know I do not really like Chinese food. This Cafe serves the typical sets eg scrambled egg, toasts etc so unless the egg tastes really good I do not usually bother trying.

When I saw the reviews, it was the typical cafe I assumed it was because it had photos of scrambled eggs and pasta.

However the more recent reviews had fries with cheese so that was the only thing I came here for and because it was opened by a local actor Jazz Lam.

They also had chilled abalone slices on the menu and meringue souffle mountain which I would want to order as well because it differentiated them from other cafes.

I really wanted to try the meringue souffle mountain but it is served after 9.30opm.

For the noodles sets you can choose the typical spaghetti or instant noodles, but as well as that they had Nongshims Shun Ramyun (sunlaatmin 農心辛辣麵) as a choice too!
It was really good because Jazz was actually there. It was interesting seeing peoples reactions and how they want to take a photo with him but are too embarrassed to ask.

Jazz was there to take my order so I ordered the chips with cheese and the set as well since I was there.

The set came first because it takes a while to bake the chips, while I was waiting Jazz asked if I would like any water so I said Yes, then he said hot or cold so I said warm.
Anyway he brought over the water which was sweet.
The funny thing was the water was really sweet because the staff put syrup in it accidentally so he got me another cup which he said might be salty LOL.

But anyway that was a sweet and funny experience!

The fork and spoon were interesting as well, the fork was longer than the spoon.

Da spoon is shorter than the fork
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pasta set:

The set had chicken wings, ham, pasta, scrambled eggs and toast.
It tasted how it should.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Baked fries with cheese:

I was really surprised by this because the quality of the chips were quite good, they were still crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside after they were baked.
The frying oil was fresh as well so the chips tasted really nice. The chips were sprinkled with salt and some spices and it was spotted with cheese rather than smothered with melted cheese on top.
If there was more cheese it would be even better.
The cheese that got burnt on top was even more delicious with the spices that they used.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
When I left they had made a meringue souffle mountain for display and they even had professional lighting for it too!
I like the way they have put berries on the surface of the meringue souffle. I really wanted to eat that meringue souffle!!

[Review 2018] All you can eat buffet @ King Ludwig Beerhall

I am not an expert with German food but my knowledge of German food was sausages and all the different sauces you can order such as curry sauce and tomato sauce that go with the bockwurst and the strudel cakes during German lessons.

However in Hong Kong, they seem to associate the pork knuckle with German food.

Anyway the buffet at King Ludwig Beerhall was perfect, I could try a little of something.
I did not expect a lot of native German food but at least there was the pork knuckle and sauerkraut vegetables.

Basically when you sit down, they will put down a plate of freshly done pork knuckles which are delicious.
The skin is crispy and slightly salty and the meat inside is delicious and of course the sauerkraut vegetables which balance out the heavyness of the pork knuckles.

As well as that there were other delicious items such as the sausages, dublin prawns, freshly melted cheese on toast.

[Review 2017] A choice of expensive or cheap ramens @ 富良野日式拉麵 Furano Ramen House

15/11/2012

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/a-choice-of-expensive-or-cheap-ramens-e2269665

Walked past this ramen joint so many times after it opened but somehow I did not get the urge to go in.
They used to just have ramens that were priced between $68-78 which is about the same price as the famous ramens.

Anyway, there were no photos before so it was like taking a risk if it was not nice.

About a few months later, they finally had product pictures of ramen and rices but only costing around $34-38 which meant the previous ramens were not doing well or they had no faith in serving it at that price.

Since it costs only $3X I dont have any expectations for it but at least I could find out the type of noodles they use and if it is good then I would probably try the more expensive ramens later on.

I ordered the ramen in spicy soup with beef and minced meat and rice, but the minced meat and rice was sold out.
So the guy asked if I wanted the Pacific Saury (Chaau doh yue) with rice so I ordered that instead.

The food came with a drink so I chose this herbal tea.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
ramen in spicy soup with beef:

The broth was really spicy, it tastes exactly like those Korean Nong Shim cup noodles.
The ramen was similar to pasta and exactly the same type of noodles they used in FAIRWOOD's ramen king series.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pacific Saury with rice:

To be honest I thought the fish was marinated eel and not Pacific saury, but the guy insists it was Pacific saury.
Anyway, the texture of pacific saury is not like that.
Usually I hate Japanese rice because it is hard and heavy, but here the rice is a mix between Japanese rice and normal long grain rice. I would say 10% of Japanese rice and 90% long grain rice which made it easier to swallow and the taste was much nicer.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Herbal tea:

I was not quite sure what this drink was, but it did not taste of any herbs nor was it flowery.
I was pretty sure it was water and coloured sugar syrup because the taste was very pleasant and there was no sour aftertaste or weird aftertaste that cordials give you.
When you see this drink, it is actually pink.

Went to Fresh Wheat Bakery in Tai Hang which seems to be a new branch, however the attitude of the staff there was not that good.
I felt that she was giving people the looks so they would hurry up and leave.

Anyway I bought a Pandan cake.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pandan cake:

Overall the cake was too sweet and lacked pandan taste.
The egg tasted really strong and it tasted like an ordinary cake which was coloured green.

[Review 2015] Cream croquettes and natto beans curry @ CoCo壹番屋 CoCo Ichibanya

Went back for their delicious curries because you can choose almost any combination.

This time tried the cream croquettes and I think I will also try the deep fried fish next time too.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
cream croquettes and natto beans curry:

Again had the non spicy curry which tastes like gravy with a hint of curry without the spicyness.
The cream croquettes were basically potato croquettes.
The filling inside was different to what I expected, it was really silky and slightly creamy.
However there was no potato taste, hence that is why I chose the Natto beans to go with it.
It was a bit like having breakfast with potato and beans.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salad and lemon tea:

The salad and drinks were Ok, the syrup was added by yourself which was good.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pork curry:

The pork curry was shredded pork and the pork was quite lean and fresh.
The curry was quite spicy because I chose the mild one.
