Oolaa is located on Bridge Street which is quite high up hence the reason why I was too lazy to go up there.

Went there for dinner finally and it was quite nice. If this place was more accessible I would try their pizza for breakfast because they have the Dynamite Pizza which has molten Cheddar cheese & Vegemite. Not many places in Hong Kong serve food with VEGEMITE!
It would be good if this pizza was available a la carte too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
truffle mashed potatoes:

The mashed potatoes were really delicious, truffle oil was infused in the mashed potatoes.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salad Niçoise:

This was seared peppered tuna, silver anchovies and lemon vinaigrette.
It was slightly different too because it had seared tuna, usually it is canned cooked tuna. The anchovies were slightly bigger than usual too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Minted Green Pea Risotto:

This was minted green pea risotto with king prawns, mixed herbs and pecorino cheese.
I liked the minty taste because it was natrual and not that strong.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Veggie pizza:

The pizza was covered with lots of mushrooms, red onions, olives, bell peppers and asparagus with pesto drizzle.
I am not fond of pesto, but the pesto sauce they used here was really nice and made the pizza delicious.

Came here again for their food, the portions are quite small but it tastes like home cooked food so it was quite healthy.
Today picked the fried fishes.
There was also other fried fishes which I will try next time.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Deep fried fishes:
The fried fishes were hard and bitter.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green beans:
The beans were fresh and non oily.
They were slightly too hard and perhaps a tinge too salty.

[Review 2042] Curry beef puff @ 檀島咖啡餅店 Honolulu Coffee Shop

Initially I wanted to get the egg tarts but they looked pale and oily.
Then I opted for the curry beef puff.
The entrance of this restaurant looks like a circus.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Curry beef puff:

The puff pastry was too thick and oily.
The beef was slightly spicy and the curry taste was just right, however the beef was chewy.

I was glad when this shop opened but they mostly sold macarons which was slightly disappointing because in other countries they have a cafe too serving beautiful eclairs.

Although I was bored of Macarons I still tried it anyway because there are macaron stores everywhere these days and it is not a delicacy anymore especially when they have macaron classes and everyone can make their own.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pistachio macaron:

In the end I chose Pistachio. I was pleased the staff actually knew which ones were the sweetest and which one was the least sweetest.
I was tempted to try the lemon but it was risky because i do not like artificial lemon flavours.

The pistachio was delicious and fragrant too!
It literally melts in your melt into liquid!
The sweetness was just right.

[Review 2040] Maple honey toast @ Urban Bakery

I know this place is famous for croissants but I will save this option for later when I get bored.
I came here and got the Maple honey toast.
They also had peanut butter toast.

When I paid I saw these delicious Hairy crab croissants for $100, but they only sell 5 per day and they have already met that quota.

The cost for those five croissants at $500 is worth around 42 of their normal croissants at $12 each!
But I must say they do look delicious and there is a lot of crab in it.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Maple honey toast:

The toast was more buttery than I expected and on the thick toast you could see that it was buttered really heavily.
The toast itself was salty and the maple syrup on the surface which got crystallized tasted really nice together.
The toast was crispy with a chewy centre and it was partially cut into squares making it easier to eat.

[Review 2039] New blueberry and yogurt smoothie @ 許留山 Hui Lau Shan

There were two yoghurt smoothes: blueberry or mango and raspberry.
I wish it were blueberry and raspberry rather than mango and raspberry.

At this branch, they also have lunch sets such as noodles and curry with rice.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Blueberry yoghurt smoothie

Anyway I ordered the smoothie without sugar because I had a feeling the yoghurt would be sweet.
When it was ready it looked exactly like the product shot topped with three blueberries on top.
Luckily I asked for it unsweetened because it was still sweet because of the yogurt.
Overall it was a really nice drink and the blueberry taste was not artificial.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Came back for the set lunch because not all the branches do set lunches.
All the set lunches come with a choice of three drinks: mango and coconut milk, coconut milk or watermelon juice, so if you are a fan of HLS drinks then this deal is not bad for $31 as you get the drink which normally costs around $2X so you are just paying $1X for the food and you get a delicious dessert as well.

For the food you can choose noodles or rice to go with satay beef or marinated chicken leg in soy sauce or mixed curry.
For the dessert you get to choose iced mango cake or cookie iced cake which is just an icecream cake topped with bread crumbs.
Anyway I chose the chicken leg with rice, coconut milk and the cookie iced cake.
When it came the hot food was wrapped in clingfilm as well because the lid to the chicken was too big.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
chicken leg with rice

Although the chicken was not fresh the chicken meat was tender.
As expected it was pre-cooked chicken and reheated just like their other items such as the fishballs and squid.
The soy sauce was generous but it just tasted sweet.

The rice was too soft and mushy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
coconut milk

I did not like the set drinks but chose this for the sake of choosing it.
The drink was a bit sickly but the sweetness was just right.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
cookie iced cake

The cake was delicious, it was thick frozen chocolate cream with pieces of soft cookie bits in it.
To be honest it was icecream with cookie crumbs on top.

[Review 2038] Delicious instant noodles in cheese sauce @ 嘉華茶餐廳

I am not fond of food from Chinese cafes but there were two choices that caught my eye today.
The stir-fried noodles in soy sauce with fatty beef and the instant noodles in cheese sauce with pork neck meat and burger patty.
This restaurant looked really old and grubby.
They also had lights on during broad daylight.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
stir-fried noodles in soy sauce with fatty beef:

Although I do not like beef, the noodles itself were satisfying without the beef and there were slivers of onion and some sauce from the beef that was on the noodles, so the noodles tasted really nice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
instant noodles in cheese sauce with pork neck meat and burger patty:

This was really fattening because it had cheese, pork neck meat and the burger patty was made with lots of fat too.
Again I did not eat the pork neck meat and burger patty, so just the noodles in cheese sauce was good enough because it was delicious.
It tastes even better than the starchy cheese sauce at Sun Kee’s and cheaper too!
The cheese sauce here was not milky.
There were dried herbs in the sauce so you could obviously tell it was made from some pasta sauce mixture or some western sachet soup.

The cheese sauce had chicken soup powder taste too.
Although it looked heavy, the taste was not that cheesy or sickly.
I believe the sauce is made from 80% soup/pasta sauce powder and 20% cheese.
The noodles also had pieces of mushrooms in it.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soup:
Not fond of chinese soups but there was no CFC taste in the soup which was good.
If I knew the soup costs extra I would not have ordered the soup.
