On my last visit I had a surprisingly nice fish and chips, so decided to come back and try their other tea sets because the tea set ends at 6.30pm and some other tea set choices end at 6.00pm.

This time tried the waffle and the noodles.
The noodle tea set came with a side of scrambled egg or egg salad, so I decided to order the egg salad for a change and had bread instead of toast.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Instant noodles with five spice pork:

This was how I expected it to taste, however the noodles were slightly too soft this time.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Instant noodles and Chinese swiss wings:

I have never been fond of Chinese swiss style chicken wings or noodles because it is basically sweet soy sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
bread:

I thought this was going to be plain bread, but it was spread with margarine.
Next time I will request for plain bread if it is not real butter that is spread on it because the margarine they used had a strange smell.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
egg salad:

This was the ultimate star of the tea set!
I was expecting egg in sweet salad sauce, but it was real proper savoury mayonnaise which tasted like the REAL egg and mayonnaise filling in Western sandwiches.
Without further a do, I put the egg salad on the bread and made delicious egg mayonnaise sandwich.
It would have tasted perfect if they hadnt used margarine on the bread and the egg mayonnaise would have been near perfect if it had not had pieces of ham in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
waffles with jam:

The waffle was also delicious, apart from Jam, there were other items to choose to go with it such as tuna, chocolate sauce etc, but I chose Jam.
As well as jam it came with whipped cream which was perfect for complimenting the jam and waffle.
The sweetness of the waffle was just right. I liked the waffle texture too because it was soft, but probably not appreciated by the locals.

Planned to go to Muzi the new dessert shop at the new Domain shopping mall.
According to their FB page, I went on the day they were scheduled to open, however when I got there it was not open yet.
Since it was not open, I tried to dine at the new Riso SEGRETO restaurant.
I managed to get a table but when I ordered the roast chicken was sold out so I left!!
Settled down at this place for some noodles which I thought was interesting because it was instant noodles braised in curry beef belly.
The English name for this restaurant was interesting: Poly Wealth!
It almost sounds like an investment company!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Instant noodles braised in curry beef belly:
When the noodles came, they looked like stir-fried noodles and not braised as there was not much sauce.

Anyway, the noodles tasted extremely salty that I needed to wash it in the red tea provided.
After rinsing the noodles it tasted normal.
The bowl of tea turned into salty broth that could be used for instant soup noodles!

Found out about this new pastry shop so gave it a visit.
It stood out on that floor with its pretty decor and macaron towers and sweet pink and white.

Tried the Orangette sample before I bought the Earl Grey financier.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Earl Grey financier:

The texture of this was really nice and moist, there were real pieces of earl grey tea leaves in this.

The sweetness was just right and the tea leaves in the cake gave it a better texture along with fresh bursts of earl grey and bergamot aroma.
Although the pieces of tealeaves were not wheat or barley, it also gives you some roughage for the digestive system.
It was labelled well and states that it contains gluten.

I liked the earl grey flavour because the traditional ones are made of almond.
As the name suggests, it is related to the Finance world because the cakes are made from the traditional rectangular mold, which resembles a bar of gold. Another theory suggests that the cake was popular in the financial district of Paris surrounding the Paris stock exchange.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Orangette:
This was their homemade candied orange peel dipped with dark chocolate.
They were shaped like sticks coated in chocolate and the centre was a bit like jellied orange which had a nice twist.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Apart from macarons, they also have cookies, jams and neat cakes at the counter which I forgot to take pictures of.

[Review 2157] Retro Chinese cafe by the sea with delicious food @ 海安咖啡室 Hoi On Cafe

When I saw pictures of the noodles tossed in spring onion and ginger sauce I just had to come here for them.

On the map it showed that this cafe was almost by the sea.

It was hard to locate that day because that building was being rennovated so the front of the shop was almost covered by scaffolding.
I barely managed to recognise this cafe only because there was a yellow fire hydrant on one of the photos and because it was so old with red decor inside.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Photos of the restaurant:
The decor of the restaurant is probably a sight for the people in the city.

As well as the decor, I was surprised how friendly the staff were who were not pushy and extremely patient.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Apart from the noodles, there were pictures of the toast with scrambled eggs, corned beef and extremely generous amounts of spring onions which I had to try too.

The product shots were interesting, there was some element of design or layout in it, even the Chinese characters looked neatly laid out with style and written with some different font!

Although I had ordered a bit too much this time, everything was worth trying.
The roast pork was sold out that day so I only chose luncheon meat with the tossed noodles.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Noodles in ceramic pot:

The noodles they have here are not Nissin instant noodles but they tasted good enough.
The noodles were in a ceramic pot topped with with so many items such as five spice pork, fried egg, luncheon meat, roast duck breast etc.
The noodles were piping hot especially since they were served in a ceramic pot and there was a film of hot oil covering the noodles.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Scrambled eggs with corned beef on toast:

I loved the toast, the amount of spring onions was so generous that it was nearly green.
The corned beef was not as salty as I expected, but the combination of scrambled eggs, spring onions and beef with toast was really delicious.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Instant noodles tossed in spring onion and ginger oil:

Next time I order this, I will ask for the non spicy version because the spicyness is quite strong that sometimes it over powers the spring onion and ginger oil.
Otherwise the noodles were delicious because the spring onion and ginger oil tastes exactly like the sauce for dipping chicken.
The luncheon meat looked slightly different to the usual as it had specks of meat in it.
It would have been great if the noodles were more al-dente as I found them too soft and the texture was a bit spongy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Egg and five spice meat sandwich:

I hesitated ordering this one, but it also turned out delicious. It does not look nice on the photos but it was delicious.
The five spice pork was slightly too spicy for me but the egg was really fragrant.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pepper grinder:

The pepper grinder was quite interesting, the pepper comes out from the sides of the top and not the top!

The food here is delicious so came back for more, however forgot to ask for the non spicy version this time so ended up with really spicy green bean sheet noodles.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green bean sheet noodles:

As I forgot to ask for the non spicy version, they were spicy this time, the colour is redder than the nice spicy version and lots of spices are mixed in the noodles.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sichuan chicken:

The chicken tasted better this time as there was more pieces of chicken with meat on it.

As well Roast chicken, I love Roast potatoes as well.
I could not get enough of them last time.
On my previous visit I did not eat them immediately so they were slightly cold and chewy.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Roast potatoes HKD25:

The portion was slightly bigger this time and not as salty so there was improvement.
I loved the crisp roasted potato skin and the silky soft inside of the potato with herbs.
They definitely taste perfect eaten right after you get them.

[Review 2154]Organic chestnut pralines @ 點點綠 Green Dot Dot

I have not really bought from Green Dot Dot before apart from the occasional bottled drinks that they sell.

However when I walked past this time I saw some chocolates that were in the freezer which seemed intriguing because you do not usually need to freeze chocolates.

They had chestnut pralines for $19 per box of four pralines.

I chose the chestnut pralines with sour cherry.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
chestnut pralines with sour cherry:
The shop said that they were meant to be thawed before eating but I didnt think they would be that hard so I ate them immediately.
When I opened the box, the surface of the chocolate was already wet.

Just when I was expecting a hard centre it was really soft and did not seem like it had been frozen, so either their freezer was not working or the filling does not go hard when frozen.

The temperature of the praline was not that cold when I bit into it so I think their freezer was not that cold.
Anyway, the taste of the praline was quite nice, the chestnut filling was natural and silky with a plump tart cherry in the middle.
