Cheese and ham toast HKD9:
I have always wanted to try this but every time I go to La Rose Noire Bakery, they are always on display and it seems they have been sitting there for half a day.
Luckily they heat it up for you but I still prefer them freshly done and ready to go because after they are heated up the cheese is hard.
The toast and cheese was slightly hard and dry as expected but it still tasted quite nice because it was cheddar and ham on toast.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
It was extremely cheap for $9 too!

[Review 2309] Slightly confused by their sandwiches @ Boulangerie Bistronomique
15/03/2013
Boulangerie Bistronomique (已結業)
此店已改名為Bistronomique
西環堅尼地城爹核士街1號地下1A號舖
Shop 1A, G/F, 1 Davis Street, Kennedy Town, Western District
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/slightly-confused-by-their-sandwiches-e2287398
On my last visit I tried the Mille Feuille which was OK because it reminded me of the cakes I had as a kid but it was too sweet with the custard and I would have preferred plain cream instead of the custard.
This time I came back for the Tete de cochon sandwich which is only served from 12-3pm.
I wanted to try the Bahn mi because of the pate and the Tete de cochon because I have always wanted to try the pig's head.
For the sandwich sets they come with two sides and you can choose from: salad, soup or crisps (chips in French).
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bahn mi:
[Vietnamese pork pate/Liver pate/pickles/coriander/chili pepper]
When it came, it looked Vietnamese style because of the coriander, carrots and pickled vegetables, however when I took a look at the fillings it had sliced pork trotters which was not on the menu.
The taste of the pate was ok, but the sliced pork trotters/ears ruined it for me because I hate them.
Vietnamese sausage would be a more appropriate ingredient instead of the pork trotter slices.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tete de cochon:
[Pigs head terrine/gribiche sauce/pickle pepper/mustard]
I was really looking forward to this because I have always wanted to try the pork brain. To my horror I could already see sliced pork trotter from the edges.
When I took a look at the fillings there were more disgusting pork trotters/sliced pigs ears again which was not listed on the ingredients.
The meatier item on the left of the picture could have been the brain but it tasted like Ox's tongue and they said it was meant to be terrine but it didn't look like terrine at all and where was the jelly?
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soup:
Although the soup tasted nice, but as a carrot soup it lacked the taste of carrot.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
crisps:
The crisps were quite salty but luckily they were fresh.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salad:
Basically it was rocket leaves in vinaigrette which tasted ok.

[Review 2308] Moo Moo from Mid-Levels to Admiralty @ Milky Cow Frozen Yogurt

Milky Cow Frozen Yogurt

Shop D, G/F, 59-61 Bonham Road, Mid-Levels

The location of Milky Cow is really inconvenient because it is located on the Mid-Levels.
I would only go there if I was nearby, but it is very convenient for people studying at HKU and people that live nearby.
Luckily for me, they have now moved to Admiralty because their rent at Mid-Levels have shot up forcing them to open elsewhere.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Froyo:
I got the smallest size which was $20.
Toppings are $5 extra per topping, but I was given some wheat bran for free.
The froyo was too icy and tasted like froyo sorbet.
The taste of the froyo was pleasant and had a natrual yogurt taste.

[Review 2307] WARNING: The McCurry burger is really spicy! @

Tried the new McCurry burger and it was spicier than I thought it would be!!
So be warned.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
McCurry burger:
The McCurry burger is spiked with turmeric, chili, black pepper and cloves.
It is a quarter pounder topped with McCurry sauce and diced onions.
Basically the burger was REALLY spicy and this was the spiciest burger I have tried at McDonald's and it was even spicier than the chili hot wings.
There is a MEGA McCurry too which has a double quarter pounder patty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Iced Fresh lemon tea:
Basically this was plain red tea served with lemon slices in it with a separate tub of syrup.
The bitterness of the lemon rind made the tea really bitter and the tea itself was quite bitter.
It was quite a disappointing drink because it just tasted like the lemon tea served in Chinese restaurants.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Although this was too spicy for my liking I would love to try the burgers at the McDonalds in India such as the McPaneer.

[Review 2306] Pepper Lunch now sizzling at Tseung Kwan O @ Pepper Lunch
12/03/2013
Pepper Lunch
將軍澳貿業路8號新都城中心2期2樓2018號舖
Shop 2018, 2/F, MCP Central, 8 Mau Yip Road, Tseung Kwan O
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/pepper-lunch-now-sizzling-at-tseung-kwan-o-e2287015
Pepper Lunch serves steaks on a special iron plate (patented in Japan) that keeps the temperature at approximately 80 degrees C (175 degrees F) for 20 minutes.
The steaks are cooked in front of you, where they sizzle in the gravy.
The first time I encountered Pepper Lunch was at Langham place, but they only served beef back then.
Now they offer more variety and they have chicken and salmon too.
Out of all the other branches, I prefer this branch because it is not part of a food court.
At this branch, you seat yourself first, and then decide what to order by ordering and paying at the counter and then the food is brought over to you.
They also have a private section too which is not opened during non peak hours.
The chairs at Pepper lunch have been designed for this place too with the logo silhouette hollowed out on the back of the chair.
At every table there are two sauces: honey brown sauce (Amakuchi) or garlic soy sauce (Karakuchi) to put on the steaks.
In my opinion the garlic soy sauce tastes better because I found the honey brown sauce too sweet.
This was the first time I enjoyed Pepper Lunch because the place did not reek of beef or the heated metal plates.
For the sizzling plates, you can pay extra and get a side dish such a mashed potatoes in gravy which I shall try next time.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soup:
The soup was pleasant to drink with pieces of seaweed and tofu.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steak:
The steak was nicely sizzled and the Pepper Lunch butter added more depth to it as it was mixed with crispy fried garlic and special sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Curry chicken and mushrooms:
This was surprisingly delicious because the chicken was not dry and it was the thigh part of the chicken.
The black pepper taste was strong and quite prominent against the curry sauce.
On top of the rice, there was sweet and crisp sweetcorn niblets which balanced out the spiciness of the curry and black pepper.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steak and burger with curry sauce:
The burger had really strong beef taste but the curry sauce was slightly different from the chicken curry sauce because this one was sweeter and less spicy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ice-cream with caramel sauce:
The ice cream was nice and soothing after having piping hot food.
The caramel sauce was quite sweet and the yellow bean powder on the icecream balanced out the sweetness from the syrup.

[Review 2305] Lounge out with breakfast @ The Green Lounge

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/lounge-out-with-breakfast-at-the-green-lounge-e2287009
Thanks to 糖小妹 and The Green Lounge for inviting me to try their innovative dishes.
When I first saw their burgers filled with instant noodles I knew this place was going to be different.
Located in Sheung Wan on the corner of a quiet road, this is the perfect place to crash out and have breakfast.
They serve all day breakfast and a wide variety of drinks.
Most of their breakfasts come with a choice of breakfast tea or Earl grey tea which is a perfect end to
The design of their menu was also very calming and therapeutic to look at.
The decor of this place was simple and relaxing.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
The Premium all day breakfast:
Waffles, American potatoes, egg, strawberries, salmon, salad.
Overall the breakfast was really good because it was healthy, the strawberries were red and sweet, the salad was very simple without being over drenched with sauces, the potatoes and salmon were unseasoned.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
The Classic benedict:
Parma ham, poached eggs, grilled tomato and strawberries.
Compared to the all day breakfast, this one tasted better because the egg yolk and the muffin were a perfect match along with the flavourful parma ham.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green tea latte:
As well as the green tea latte they had fruit latte which I found interesting, but in the end I tried their green tea latte because they recommended it.
The green tea taste was strong and slightly bitter, however it was a bit too sweet.

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/hakata-ippudo-now-at-kowloon-bay-e2287008
Thanks to Ippudo and the communications team for inviting me to their Blogger's party.
IPPUDO (HK) has extended its footprint to the Kowloon East area. Located really close to the MTR exit at Kowloon Bay station.
They have just launched two more specialty ramens from different Japanese prefectures – Sapporo and Tokyo.
That night they had their guest chef talk about their new ramens.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Appetizer:
This was an appetizing medley of spicy beanshoots and pork.
The saltiness of the pork tasted really nice with the beanshoots.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sapporo Miso - $68:
Immersed in a rich chicken broth infused with flavorful Sapporo miso, these curly noodles make for a solid meal. Topped with lean slices of pork, minced pork, butter and bamboo shoots, each and every bite is filled with seasoning and substance.
These noodles were great to have on a cold day, the noodles are kept really hot underneath the layer of oil.
The soup adheres to these curly noodles giving it maximum taste and the butter gives it a nice salted taste with smoothness.
0 讚好
The rich soup and spring onion elements make it really addictive.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tokyo Seafood Tonkotsu - $88:
The Tokyo special includes a fish broth made from a combination of skipjack and scad fish, combining IPPUDO’s homemade signature Tonkotsu with soft-boiled egg, lean slices of pork, bamboo shoots, spinach making Tokyo Seafood Tonkotsu a supreme ramen. Due to anticipated popularity, the ramen is now available at IPPUDO in Kowloon Bay, Admiralty, Central and Causeway Bay.
The seafood soup was delightful too especially for people who would prefer a lighter option. The taste of fish in the broth was stronger than I expected but goes well with the pork broth.
The fish broth is added at the last minute so that it keeps it strong taste in the soup.
The soft boiled egg was delicious and the yolk was thick.
There was spinach in the ramen too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Ippudo pork bun:
This was two pieces of thinly sliced pork and lettuce sandwiched in a white bun, the sauce that they used was really nice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pumpkin and cinnamon brulee:
I really liked this brulee because it had pumpkin and it was not too sweet.
There were hints of cinnamon in it too and the texture of brulee was smooth and velvety.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Currently they are doing a ramen promotion which is a bit like a ramen trail, you eat the six designated noodles and collect a sticker each time and get a ramen free when you have completed the collection card.
