Since my last visit, the tiny joint has expanded from a 6 seat shop to a slightly bigger joint.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ribs in sauce:
They provide you with gloves and a bag for the bones.
I have tried this before but this time the meat was not that soft and it did not come off the bones easily.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pearl rice dumplings:
These were minced pork balls covered in moist soft glutinous rice.
They are exactly like Shanghai dumplings but covered in glutinous rice.
The glutinous rice on the outside was really soft and moist it reminded me of wrapped glutinous rice.
Anyway, they taste really nice after you dip them with the magic chili bean sauce provided on the table.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beancurd sheets with kelp:
The beancurd sheets and kelp were well seasoned with vinegar but the beancurd sheets could have been softer.

[Review 2363] Sanuki udon and cheap tempura @ うどん処 今助 Udon Dokoro Imasuke

To be honest I do not like Sanuki udon but I only came here because Hyatti was closed.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Udon with sakura shrimp:
There were quite a lot of choices for udon, I wish I chose the one with mountain yam but ended up choosing this one.
The udon here is homemade because it is not quite uniform.
There is nothing wrong with their udon but I have never liked the Sanuki type because it is chewy and tasteless.
The one I ordered was quite tasteless too because there is no sauce on it and the waitress said the soy kelp sauce was for the tempura.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Seaweed prawn tempura:
The batter was quite thick and the oil was slightly rancid.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mochi tempura:
The mochi tempura was tasteless.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
The tempuras were quite cheap, they were around $10 per portion.

[Review 2362] Pork chop bun set @ 大玩町

This was an unplanned visit because I was intending to get Dairy Queen again but needed something as a filler first.
The pork chop bun set includes apple tea, pork chop bun, Portuguese tart and a pork chop bun for $29 which is quite cheap being right in the middle of a tourist spot.
Macau is famous for pork chop buns and the famous ones cost around $35+ each.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pork chop bun:
The pork chop bun was freshly made and piping hot.
The bread they used was crispy and soft and the taste was yeasty.
The pork chop inside was tender.
Although the pork chop bun was not from a famous joint, it tasted quite nice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Portuguese tart:
The tart size was quite small and cute.
The tart was flakey and the the tart filling was lovely and eggy.
The sweetness was just right.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Apple drink:
The sweetness of the drink was just right but the taste of apple was quite artificial.

Went to Ippudo for a light meal and chose My Ramen.
My Ramen basically lets you choose the broth, type of noodles and extras.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
My Ramen:
I chose the Bonito and pork broth with hakkata noodles.
This option is quite good if you do not eat meat.
The noodles were hard just as I requested and the Bonito and pork broth complemented it nicely.
There was pickled ginger and crushed garlic to enhance the noodles too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
There is a promotion at the moment and you get a sticker for the designated noodle ordered, once the stamp card is filled you can get a free Ramen.
Terms and conditions please see the stamp card.

[Review 2360] Orange mochi @ 榮華餅家 Wing Wah

Shop 21 ,MTR Tseung Kwan O Station, N.T., Tseung Kwan O
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/orange-mochi-wing-wah-e2289764
I was surprised to see that they had Orange flavoured mochi at Wing Wah Bakery because the style at Wing Wah is quite traditional.
There were two flavours orange or red bean.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Orange mochi:
The mochi was covered in coconut and there was orange filling encased with a layer of white bean paste.
The taste reminded me of the snowy mooncakes that they sell during Mid Autumn festival because of the white bean paste.
I would have preferred it if the orange flavour was more refreshing because the orange peel taste was more prominent.

[Review 2359] Fishballs @ 陳記魚蛋 (已結業)

Shop D1, G/F, Southorn Centre, 150 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/fishballs-chan-kee-e2289763
During non public holidays I would not consider this stall at all because it is always surrounded by people but as it was a public holiday that day, there was not many people getting snacks from there.
There were two snack stalls on that road, this one and the eggette stall which also serves beef offal.
The beef offal looked a bit bland so I chose this place.
Initially I just ordered the beancurd skin puffs but then the fishballs looked nice so I got an extra skewer of them which were placed on top of the beancurd skin puffs.
There are three curry sauces: non spicy, mild and hot.
While I was eating the first cup I looked at the name of this place and realised they were famous for fishballs which was lucky because I tried them as well.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beancurd skin puffs + fisballs with non spicy curry sauce:
The fishballs were quite small and they did not have grounded fish bones in it which was good.
They were firm and quite al-dente but the fish taste was not that strong.
The beancurd skin puffs were a bit too oily and the curry sauce ruined everything because it just tasted sweet just like curry syrup.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fishballs with mild curry sauce:
The fish balls were nice so I got another skewer this time trying the spicier sauce.
Again it was sweet with a spicy tone to it.

When I saw these Japanese Cheese balls I should have trusted my instinct not to get them because Maxim's SAVOURY items are always sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Japanese cheese balls:
The size of these cheese balls were bigger than the ones sold at other bakeries, but the taste is more important than size.
Anyway, I did not like them because the cheese taste was not strong and it was sweet.
