https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/lovely-plain-hokkaido-icecream-e2290329
Came back for their delicious ice-cream!
It is so nice you can never get sick of it.
This time I got plain icecream because I was not interested in the rest of the fancy addons such as red beans, green tea jelly etc.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hokkaido icecream:
The plain icecream is not a bad deal because you actually get quite a fair amount of icecream in it.
The ice-cream was very dense and thick, yet very airy, with fine air bubbles infused inside.
It was very interesting, because it was like cold thick mousse and gooey marshmallow.

[Review 2370] Cheese and ham obanyaki @ 亞月家 Azukiya

Azukiya is located next to Kashayao where they sell sweet and savoury obanyakis.
I have always wanted to try the savoury one, so this time tried the cheese and ham obanyaki.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cheese and ham obanyaki (white):
The obanyakis were half done so it was ready in a flash.
Part of the centre was sticky so it stuck to the paper.
The obanyaki was quite tasteless because 70% of it was the obanyaki pastry which was sticky and chewy, and it was sweet as well so I did not like much.
When I got to the centre it tasted much better because of the gooey cheese.
There was not much ham.

[Review 2369] More Fujian delights hidden by a market @ 真真美食店

真真美食店
北角春秧街70號地下
G/F, 70 Chun Yueng Street, North Point
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/more-fujian-delights-hidden-by-a-market-e2290327
Came here for more Fujian delights because they are rare in Hong Kong.
There are two more, one located in Tokwawan and the other located nearby near the North Point MTR.
I came here especially for the soup which contained stuffed intestines with pork blood.
I do not really like intestines because they smell but I thought the pork blood may be interesting.
Walking down the busy market street, there is also a tram line so trams occasionally go past.
I had trouble locating this place because the Chinese characters at the front of the restaurant were different to the ones listed on OpenRice.
Anyway, finally found it and there were a few tables, the decor was slightly old.
Sat down and the menu was very simplistic too.
Tried the order those intestines stuffed with blood but they don't do them anymore, and tried to order the Taiwanese stir fried noodles but they did not have them either, so ordered the soup with intestines and savoury rice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Savoury rice:
They didnt give me a spoon but luckily the soup came with one.
The rice does not have much meat in it but it was extremely cheap and delicious with pieces of fish, Chinese mushrooms and peanuts.
It reminded me of stir fried glutinous rice but it was made with normal rice which is not so heavy.
Each grain of rice was covered in soy sauce but not overly salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soup with intestines:
I just drank the soup and it was lovely and sweet because of the Chinese radishes.
There were lots of small diced Chinese radishes in the soup and the texture of the radishes were not too soft.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Next time I should try their daily dishes because it looks good, you can choose two items and rice for $27.

[Review 2368] It's spring, its time for green fingers @ 六國酒店大堂酒廊 Lobby Lounge

灣仔告士打道72號六國酒店地下
G/F, Gloucester Luk Kwok Hong Kong, 72 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai

Thanks to the Luk Kwok hotel for inviting me to try their new tea sets and THE PLANT~
Located on the ground floor of the spacious Luk Kwok hotel lobby, it is a relaxing place to have drinks and tea.
Tried the high tea set ($168 for two), various tea sets ($70 per person) and the new PLANT dessert.
All of the above comes with drinks and I chose my favourite English breakfast tea.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
English breakfast tea:
The tea was made with fresh leaves hence it had maximum tea flavour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
High tea set:
This was a three tiered stand, but for photographic purposes I have only taken photos of each tier.
There was a plate of fried items, a plate of finger sandwiches and a plate of sweet treats with scones and cheesecakes accompanied with jam and cream.
My favourites were the curry samosa with raita dip, finger sandwiches, and scones which tasted perfect with cream and jam.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
The Plant:
It was basically a sawdust pudding in that bowl garnished with grounded hazelnuts, biscuit crumbs, chocolate pebbles with a sprig on Rosemary in the centre.
I really liked it because it was fun to eat.
It would be good if there was more grounded hazelnuts because I love hazelnuts.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Seafood green curry and rice:
The green curry was really nice and not too spicy served in a cute clay pot.
The curry sauce was really delicious with the fries.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Club sandwich:
Delicious club sandwiches with fries.
I thought the portion was quite big for one person!
The sandwiches had egg, ham, tomato and lettuce in them.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crab cakes:
The crab cakes were delicious and the diced cucumber tasted nice together.
The sweet chili sauce is optional because it tastes nice with or without it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled beef and chicken satays:
The beef and chicken satay were well marinated, they both had strong cumin taste.
The satay sauce was a bit sweet and the peanut taste could be stronger.

[Review 2367] Breakfast @ The Queen Victoria

The Queen Victoria
灣仔駱克道108號地下
G/F, 108 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/breakfast-the-queen-victoria-e2290084
This is my favourite place for breakfast!
It is cheap.
There are no service charges and the pork sausages that they serve are the same as the ones in UK
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Breakfast:
The breakfast had all my favourite items namely: black pudding, sausages, baked beans, egg and mashed potatoes.
The sausages are the best, the pork is spiced with herbs and the sausage skin is crispy and slightly sticky when you cut it with a knife.
The black pudding was the usual fare but delicious dipped in the runny egg yolk accompanied by the baked beans.

[Review 2366] Porks trotter in vinegar near the roundabout @ 三盞燈馮記豬腳姜

三盞燈馮記豬腳姜
新橋(三盞燈/白鴿巢)圓形地街市熟食檔
Cooked Food Stall, Rotunda de Carlos da Maia, Santo Antonio
https://www.openrice.com/zh/macau/review/porks-trotter-in-vinegar-near-the-roundabout-e2290054
This stall is located just off a roundabout.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Porks trotter in vinegar:
I have always wanted to try this place but I did not know what it is called.
Just happened to walk past it because the place I was going to go did not have boiled pork brains.
This place is famous for skewers of vinegared pork knuckles. however when I got mine they were placed in a bowl.
They were extremely difficult to eat using two thin skewers so I gave up eating them.
The parts that I could eat were lovely, soft and sticky.
The vinegar they used was lovely and sour.

火鍋本色 Hotpot Instinct

Shop 3-5, 18 Tanner Road, North Point
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/basic-instinct-at-hotpot-instinct-e2290047
Came here with some fellow foodies who were trying this place.
Before you start your hotpot, there are about nine condiments and vinegars for you to mix your desired sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Deep fried salt and pepper salmon:
Quite nice but too salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken testees:
These were the biggest I have seen in all the restaurants I have tried.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Squid ink noodles:
As well as squid ink they had salmon.
The texture of these noodles were very foamy and light, however the squid taste was not strong.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Carrot and sugarcane drink:
The sweetness was just right but the raw carrot taste was extremely strong, so not for people who do not like raw carrots.
