Ordered the set because it had Laksa vermicelli for $48.
The set was interesting because it came with herbs and butter toast, seaweed, Roselle tea drink and a tofu pudding (subject to availability).
As well as that I tried the intestines with soy wasabi sauce.
It was tea time so there were not many people.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Roselle tea:
The sweetness was just right and it basically tastes like ribena with a rosy taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Butter toast and seaweed:
Initially I assumed it was garlic bread but it was herbs and butter which was quite nice.
It was interesting it came with seaweed too! The seaweed tasted natural with a hint of sesame oil but the green colour was artificial because it came off on the toast.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Laksa vermicelli:
The laksa broth tasted more like prawn broth with added lemongrass to it.
It was not spicy which was good because I did not feel like anything spicy that day.
If you have tried the seafood broth at this place, the broth tastes like that enhanced with lemongrass.
On top of the vermicelli, there was a huge piece of pork chop with shimeji and enoki mushrooms.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Intestines with soy wasabi sauce:
The colour of these intestines were quite dark! Usually they are bright orange or natural.
I tried them without the sauce and it was already flavoured and quite nice.
The texture of them were soft and springy.
After dipping them in wasabi sauce they tasted even better.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu pudding:
The taste of the pudding was really nice and not too sweet.
The soybean taste was strong and it seems to be made with soymilk and gelatin.

Reviews from supersupergirl on openrice for Hong Kong and Macau restaurants
[Review 2405] Overpriced eatery @ 冬蔭公公 Tom Yum Tom Yum
08/04/2013
冬蔭公公 Tom Yum Tom Yum
將軍澳坑口重華路8號東港城2樓238號舖
Shop 238, 2/F, East Point City, 8 Chung Wa Road, Hang Hau, Tseung Kwan O
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/overpriced-eatery-e2291501
I have always wanted to try this place but the decor of this place looks like a fast food restaurant and the prices on the menu reflect classy dining.
Finally tried their tea set which costs $3X for a noodle including a drink.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salted lemon soda:
Ordered this thinking it would be nice but it was the most disgusting salted lemon soda I have ever had.
It was a concoction of sweet syrup, salt and seven up.
The addition of syrup made it foul.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vermicelli in Tom Yum Kung soup with shredded chicken:
The noodles on the other hand were nicer. Apart from vermicelli you can choose Vietnamese lemon noodles or potato noodles and the level of the spicyness of the broth.
It was weird they had peanuts in the broth too!
Luckily the vermicelli was the thin type I like and the broth tasted nice.

[Review 2404] Freshtea Happy Lemon @ Freshtea By Happylemon

Freshtea By Happylemon 此店前身為 Happy Lemon
旺角亞皆老街65號新之城地下G21號舖
Shop G21, G/F, New Town Mall, 65 Argyle Street, Mong Kok
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/freshtea-happy-lemon-e2291487
There were so many branches of Happy Lemon closing and opening and this branch of Happy Lemon is slightly different because of the range they serve and it is called freshtea by Happy Lemon.
The range they serve was quite interesting with drinks like pineapple green tea, banana green tea, kiwi green tea and papaya green tea.
I ordered the green tea with lemon because the reviews said it was quite tart.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green tea with lemon:
When I got it, there was a real slice of lemon in it.
The first sip tasted like lemon sorbet which is slightly different to the usual Taiwanese style lemon teas and maccha and the maccha taste was very powdery.
There maccha was very grassy and there was a lot of maccha powder so it taste tasted floury.
As for the sweetness it could have been less sweet and the lemon flavour was quite artificial because I could taste lemon zest in it which made it slightly bitter.

[Review 2403] $9 for three skewers of grilled eel livers!~ @ 爭鮮外帶壽司 Sushi Take-Out

Shop 18, Diamond Hill MTR Station, Diamond Hill
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/9-for-three-skewers-of-grilled-eel-livers-e2291362
At Sushi Take Out, you will sometimes find interesting items.
Last time I tried delicious rainbow trout sushi and milk pudding:
http://www.openrice.com/english/restaurant/commentdetail.htm?commentid=2263778
This time I found some Grilled eel livers!!!
At restaurants they would cost you at least $30 for two skewers but here I got a box of three skewers for $9, but at the normal price $12 it is still cheap...
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled eel livers:
They looked raw but they have been grilled.
The eel livers were covered in lots of teriyaki sauce that it got a bit sticky, there was an extra tub which I did not use.
The liver tasted sweet, bitter and it was velvety, but there were some chewy bits which I did not like and those chewy bits tasted like intestines.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tuna sushi:
The tuna was soft and fresh.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Seared scallop:
Not quite sure what these were because they looked like scallops, but the staff said they were "yuenbui".
Anyway, because it was grilled the scallops had a stronger taste than the raw state, but it was slightly chewy.

Thanks to Connie for getting me these Turkish delight and Red Current puffs.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Turkish Delight:
Whenever I have Turkish delights it always reminds me of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
I used to think it was made up, but it really did exist.
The Turkish Delight at Marks and Sparks is the best because it tastes different and as well as rose there are other ingredients.
The sweetness is just right and the jelly filling is quite firm.
There are two in a pack, same as other standard Turkish delight brands, except for the one in metallic magenta wrapping.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Redcurrant puffs:
(Thanks to Connie for these pictures because the ones I took disappeared from my harddrive)
These are my favourite too and they are really popular in Hong Kong, they sold these when they did not have the full food range.
They are flakey and buttery with chewy red current jam in the middle.

[Review 2401] Back for my favorite green tea tiramisu @ 抹茶館 Maccha House
07/04/2013
抹茶館 Maccha House
鑽石山龍蟠街3號荷里活廣場3樓325號舖
Shop 325, 3/F, Plaza Hollywood, 3 Lung Poon Street, Diamond Hill
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/back-for-my-favorite-green-tea-tiramisu-e2291307
Came back for more Maccha desserts because I did not get to try them all last time.
Maccha House has been opened for quite a few months so operations are going smooth.
On this visit, I still could not try the Maccha brulee because when it arrived, it was still frozen
I wish they could improve on that because on my first visit, the Maccha brulee was frozen rock hard!
On this visit, it was also rock hard.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tuna Ochazuke:
The rice is covered with tuna sashimi served with a pot of Ochazuke.
In Kyoto, ochazuke is known as bubuzuke. When a Kyoto native asks if a guest wants to eat bubuzuke, it may really mean that the person has overstayed and is being politely asked to leave.
After the ochazuke was poured onto the rice, the rice softened up a bit and warmed up, but the ochazuke was not hot enough.
There were also pickles and wasabi to enhance the tuna.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Curry chicken with spinach and egg rice:
This was also delicious but if you plan to have desserts do not order it because it is quite filling.
I liked the steepness of the bowl because the curry sauce gets concentrated at the bottom so there is enough curry sauce throughout.
There was too much excitement in this dish because there was egg, chicken and spinach.
The egg was scrambled really nicely, soft and fragrant, and tasted delicious with the spinach.
On top of that there was chicken that is bound to make you really full and the curry sauce was delicious but slightly spicy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soup:
The soup was plain vegetable soup with a light flavour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green Tea tiramisu:
When it arrived the top layer was quite runny which was interesting but it turned out to be really creamy.
Every part of the maccha tiramisu was delicious from the sponge combined with the creamyness of the dessert followed by the freshness of the green tea powder.

Shop R1A, 1/F, Nan Fung Plaza , Tseung Kwan O

Not a beef eater so did not try the Angus BOMB.
Ordered the fish burger instead.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fish burger:
A whole slice of cheese is given at BK, at McDs you only get half.
The fish burger was quite nice, but the bun was not soft enough.
The fish burger coating was quite hard but the fish inside is really soft, so after you take a bite, it does not hold together well.
The taste of the burger is saltier than McD's but the fish is softer and wet.
