Found out about this place when I read the latest review.
The name Green orange caught my attention so I clicked into it and found out it was quite new because there were only six reviews.
I saw a photo of the Blueberry risotto and just had to try it.
Thanks to Tony for letting me try these dishes which are headed by Chef K Hoi, a passionate Chef who loves cooking.
If he was not passionate about cooking, he would not be cooking this delicious meal after a long days work at the office and thinking of other new dishes to come.
I thought that this place would be a noisy bar at night, but when I arrived I was greeted by a formally dressed waiter which made the restaurant feel classy.
I sat in the corner where there were comfortable leather chairs.
The restaurant was really comfortable and relaxing.
It is located in the same building as Sinmei's which is close to the MTR exit.
The menu was so amazing and creative, they had my favourite Jambalaya and they even had Barley risotto with anchovies!
There were so many unique items!!
The daily special was different too!!!!! It was not very prominently placed because I only discovered that after taking photos.
They had fish dumplings and apple risotto with braised leg of duck.
Here was what I tried:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bread:
I could smell the herbs when it was brought over, it was quite a firm bread with fragrant herbs.
I only ate a little bit because I was saving my stomach for the risotto.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled shrimp skewers with basil and lemon:
I had to try this because I love basil and lemon and not many places combine lemon and basil together.
The prawns were springy and had a lovely charred taste but the basil was not as strong as I hoped, after chatting with the Chef, he said they normally use Basil but they only had Thai basil that day which is not as strong as the normal Basil.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled cinnamon spiced chicken with lemon and honey sauce:
It was a lovely piece of grilled chicken breast sprinkled with cinnamon and cumin which were both my favourite spices.
Personally I would have loved more spices on top but it still tasted good because the lemon and honey sauce was terrific.
Normally the sauce is served on the chicken, but they put it in a separate jug so I could decide how much sauce to put on it.
It was great that it was separate because I preferred dipping the chicken in the sauce so that the sauce didn't get wasted on the plate.
Anyway, the taste was amazing, I tried the chicken with and without the sauce and it was gorgeous.
Beneath the chicken there was scrummy potatoes and vegetables.
The chicken without sauce tasted surprisingly nice with the cinnamon and cumin, I never thought that cinnamon could be paired with other items other than apple.
With the lemon and honey sauce, it was just divine because the honey taste was really strong but not cloyingly sweet and the sauce was really runny too so it does not make the plate go sticky.
Interestingly the lemon in the sauce tasted strong too, so it was a wonderful combination of tastes of the lemon, honey, cinammon and chicken together!!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Blueberry risotto:
I was really looking forward to this because previously I tried Strawberry risotto at Azure and it was appetizing.
Ok, it looks like breakfast or dessert but it's definitely delicious and savoury!
It had a nice crunch because there was onions in it and there were cooked blueberries too which were juicy and delicious, but they did not taste sour so it complemented the risotto nicely and there was hint of chicken stock in the risotto too.
As well as cooked blueberries, they also garnished it generously with fresh blueberries which gave it more depth and a burst of sweetness.
I really liked the fact that I was eating a blueberry risotto which actually contained a generous amount of blueberries!~!
I just felt that the cheese was a little too strong and sometimes it over powered the blueberry risotto.
The risotto here is creative and fruity because they had apple in the daily special which I can imagine tasting nice too.
The chef also experimented with kiwi too which he said was the best.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fish dumplings in cream sauce:
Lastly I tried the fish dumplings which was a first because not many places use fish!
It was sprinkled with poppy seeds and surrounded in cream sauce looking a bit Russian but I don't know why.
The fish dumplings were lovely, soft and boneless!!
Definitely a dish for sharing.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I will definitely be back and try their lunches because they have Tandoori spice sole and Lamb skewers with cous cous.

[Review 2962] Bikini for brunch @ 來佬餐館 Loyal Dining

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/bikini-for-brunch-e2331058
I was surprised they had the Bikini for Brunch.
It was one of the three options to choose from.
The other two were rather Chinesey so I just picked the Bikini which was ham and cheese sandwich with black truffle.
For brunch, the toast was a bit weak, it was more like an afternoon tea set.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bikini:
The toast was heavily buttered which was not pleasant because they used Margerine.
Overall the toast was not that impressive because it had processed cheese inside and not natural cheese.
As for the potato salad on the side, it was local potatoes and canned fruit salad in sweet salad sauce so it was disgusting.

I have always wanted to try this place because the spicy chicken and spicy tofu looked good.
They also have mini portions of rice and roast pork too.
The tofu was sold out, so I got the chicken.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Spicy chicken:
The rice was cold and the spicy sauce was too spicy.
The chicken was skinny so it was mainly skin and bones!!
Lovely blackened lettuce NOT!

[Review 2960] A good Salmon burger @ 竹日式外賣專門店 TAKE Japanese Take-away Shop

竹日式外賣專門店 TAKE Japanese Take-away Shop
灣仔灣仔道162-164號地下B1號舖
Shop B1, G/F, 162-164 Wan Chai Road, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/a-good-salmon-burger-e2331054
I rarely walk down this road because there are too many pedestrians on this narrow pavement and it stinks of second hand smoke and fumes from heavy traffic going past made worse by traffic jams.
Anyway, I had to stop walking for a few seconds because of some slow walkers infront of me and discovered this tiny joint.
I only noticed it because of the burgers.
I was surprised to see that it was a small sushi joint doing burgers as well.
It was helpful they had English menus but not all the items are listed.
Anyway, ordered the salmon burger for $38 and I didn't realise it came with potato wedges.
There were three different salmon burgers:
-Seared salmon burger
-Spicy Salmon sashimi burger
-Salmon sashimi burger with a bamboo sauce.
{It seems to say bamboo sauce (juk-jeung) on the poster}
I opted for the seared salmon burger.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Seared salmon burger:
The bun was really good, it was a fresh springy wheat bun with crushed oats and wheat on top.
It was much better than those lifeless plastic buns you get at other local places.
There was sliced cucumber in the burger which added to the refreshing taste but they were not sliced properly because the pieces were still attached to each other.
Beneath that, there were slices of seared salmon.
The salmon burger was amazing because the salmon was seared just right complemented by the cooling cucumber and wasabi mayonnaise.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Potato wedges:
The potato wedges were not memorable but the frying oil was fresh so the potato wedges tasted ok.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Previously I tried the salmon burger at MOS which was good but the second time I had it, the salmon was over cooked.

3/F, Grand Progress Building, 15 Lan Kwai Fong, Central
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/peruvian-food-e2331042
This is the only reason I like Hong Kong!
There are so many international restaurants nearby without needing to travel far!
Mayta has some quite nice Peruvian dishes which is why I have been there quite a few times.
Some of the dishes were quite chinese such as the rice pudding with red beans.
The soup was quite boring because it was mushroom soup, but the Peruvian corn was cool, they were like giant pieces of sweetcorn and were chewy and hard like purple sweetcorn.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pan Con Chicharron:

I was surprised they use the same Chinese steamed bun which is white.
The pan con chicharron had slices of crunchy pork belly, crispy purple sweet potato slices and tangy sauce which balanced the fatty pork and made it delicious.
After googling it, it appears that most places use normal buns and not these Chinese sweet buns that they sell in Little Bao and Bao Wow!

I only eat Chinese steamed buns if the quality is good but the ones you get in dim sum places are filled with fatty meat or fillings that are too sweet.
Now there is Little Bao which turns the boring steamed buns into burgers.
When I first saw the logo, it reminded me of the Jolibee logo and Chipmunks merged into one.
The menu is simple, some dishes for sharing, baos and dessert.
I was there for the Bao only so I tried the chicken one.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken Bao:
Chicken, black vinegar glaze, szechuan mayo, napa cabbage, coleslaw.
It was definitely dinky and lives up to its name Little Bao.
I loved the texture of the steamed but, it was soft but not too soft that it held together well as a burger bun and the filling in the middle was amazing.
The crispy chicken was delicious with the tart medley of julienne cabbage and coleslaw with a gorgeous creamy taste that got jazzed up with szechuan mayo.
The szechuan mayo did not have a fiery tone but had a slow tingling sensation that accumulated when you finished the bun and there was a fragrant taste of szechuan peppercorn.
The only flaw was that it was not hot enough and to me it felt like an appetizer.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Anyway, there will be a similar Steamed bun shop coming up soon in Wan Chai, called Bao Wao.
They will make their 1st public appearance at PEZ HKC from 1830pm - 2030pm on the 15th November (one night only, $38 per bao).
During the opening period in Wan Chai, it will be HK$58 for 2 Baos.
As well as that I will be looking forward to their Asian poutine which will be taro fries topped with cheese and Korean style beef!

[Review 2957] Apple fritters in a dumpling restaurant @ 龍鳳餃子館 Dumpling Pro

While I was making my way to a tasting, I stumbled upon this restaurant.
I was surprised they had apple fritters so I went in imediately to try them because I had an hour to kill before the tasting.
I have always wanted to try this famous eatery for dumplings but this place is in the middle of nowhere and the logo of this shop put me off!
It was too stylish for traditional Beijing food, but inside it was normal.
Sat down, and the waitress was surprisingly nice and asked if I wanted to sit at another table because the air conditioning was cold at that table.
So I changed tables and ordered the apple fritters.
After ordering, she gave orders to the other staff to buy red apples because they do not stock the fruit.
Before she left, I had it changed to green apples because I prefer sour apples.
If you prefer sweet apples, go for the red.
They also do banana fritters as well as sweet potato fritters.
There were mainly two groups of people dining there: Westerners and Mainlainders with a heavy Northern accent.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green Apple fritters:
I was so glad I finally found a place that does apple fritters.
There is another place in Causeway bay, but they probably expect you to have dinner or order other items as well.
The apple fritters were gorgeous, they taste the same as the ones in the UK.
Crispy candied coating with piping hot apple inside.
I loved the perfect balance of the hot mushy tart apple against the sweet crisp coating.
If there was cream or ice-cream, that would be heaven!!
I will definitely come back for the apple fritters and try their other dishes too!
