This branch of Tao Heung is located in a residential area which is not near the MTR, hence it is quite quiet on the weekdays and busier on the weekends.

At the moment Tao Heung is doing a $1 chicken promotion to attract diners.
Obviously people are not going to get away with just ordering chicken.

Here was what I tried.

steamed flounder fish:

This is my favourite fish and it was steamed just right which was good.
The flesh was white which meant the fish was quite fresh.

$1 chicken:
The chicken wasn't very meaty but reasonable for $1 unlike other places where you paying $1xx and getting the same crap.

The soy sauce for the chicken was really nice because it has a hint of spring onion in the taste.

Other dishes:

Surprisingly, just tried the spinach with beancurd sheets and it was quite nice.
The prawns were simply boiled in its shell and that tasted good too.

The portion of rice was quite decent but it looked like a dog bowl.

Thanks to Jamel or I would not have known about this grubby restaurant.
I have walked past it so many times but it is always crowded with people that I did not bother to look.
Anyway, they specialize in noodles but most people order the pork chops with egg.
While I was sitting there, one of the tables got bird droppings on them because they were sitting beneath a tree.

Ordered spam and egg which came with soup and a drink.

soup:

It was quite nice getting the fish soup that they serve with noodles which has some MSG in it.
I liked the lettuce and there were some fishcake slices which act as fillers.

spam and egg:

On my next visit, I am going to request for sunny eggs because I didn't know you had to request for that.
In generally, the spam and eggs tasted quite nice and the soy sauce wasn't too salty.

For drinks, there are a choice of soy milk or bottled coke which is the big 330ml size.

Discovered this new shop in late 2012 so told <> about it because she likes trying new shops.
At that time I thought it was expensive compared to other noodle joints but dined here this time because this other place I wanted to go was closed.

I ordered the Aromatic Crab & Shrimp Tomato Soup with Vermicelli for $68 which is cheap because the average bowl of ramen is about $70 these days.
The seating is quite cramped and uncomfortable.

Aromatic Crab & Shrimp Tomato Soup with Vermicelli

The broth was lovely and strong with rich tomato and crab taste but it was a bit too salty.
There were cubes of meat made from minced prawn and crab roe which was just like eating crab.
Surprisingly, I liked the noodles because they were similar to rice vermicelli but slightly thicker and did not have that Yunnan vermicelli plastic chewy texture.

Just tried this place because someone wanted to try it.
The decor was quite decent in the Kwun Tong area.

The menu looked Italian but clearly cooked in an adapted Chinese Italian style.

smoked duck breast salad:

It was simply lettuce with the standard smoked ducks breast that you can buy.
There was quite a fair bit of oil on it and the duck was pan fried.
I was glad there was no dressing on the salad because if the sauce is going to ruin it then I would prefer it without.

Pasta with salmon:

Very creamy and the sauce didn't mix well with the pasta.
The salmon was plonked on top but at least they did give you a decent amount of salmon.

The risotto was actually good because it had a strong tomato taste with a fair amount of diced peppers in it.

The food here is always cheap and the variety is good.
They always change their menu which keeps you coming back but usually I forget about this place because of the location.

On this visit, they had my favourite ravioli.

Portions are on the small side, but the dishes are so cheap that you can order other dishes to fill you up and there is no service charge.

The tiny sausage slices taste as good as the ones at Pizza hut but they are not that spicy.
I would have liked the sausage slices to be more evenly distributed but they kept falling off when I ate it.

Some of the rice was quite crispy but not hard.
The rice and tasty sauce tasted great together but it was a bit too salty.

Although its location is a bit far off from Times Square, this restaurant has really nice European decor.


I didn't know what to expect but the food was great.
To start the meal, you are normally given baguette or bread, but at this place they have croissants as well.

This was rich seafood soup made with 60% crabs and prawns and 40% fish.
It was fun watching the soup being poured into the bowl.

I loved the foie gras because it was done just right paired with refreshing citrus fruits.

After having a super delicious savory waffle from next door.
Decided to have some icecream.
I was contemplating on Dolci's gelato or Via Tokyo's new Hojicha flavour but since I was right next door I decided to try the Hojicha because there was no queue.

Hojicha softserve:

They provide you with a nice sturdy spoon for the icecream.
Although it was a nice big cup of softserve, I didn't like it because it was bitter, grassy and the texture was too powdery for my liking.
But anyway, everyone has different preferences for tea so if it had been a different flavour I would probably have liked it.
