After trying the chicken tikka waffle, there were so many more I wanted to try, so had it for dinner!!
You can now sit at the counter and eat.
Again I forgot my card, so I had to get my receipts stamped.
I ordered and ate the vegetarian waffle first.

After I finished that I had the prawn because I didn't want it to go cold.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
The vegetarian:
The box was nicely labelled.
I was glad I started off with the vegetarian waffle because it was nice and light.
It was filled with tasty lentils, cauliflower, cumin seeds and spices tasting like a samosa.
This is definitely recommended for vegetarians and Indians.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Thai prawn:
The prawn had a strong lemongrass taste and the sauce tasted like red curry which was not too spicy but the version I had was different to the one Rebecca_Red15 had because there were mainly potatoes in hers.
The one I had contained lots of green peppers, onions and a few pieces of prawn.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chili con carne:

I knew I was going to like this because of the tasty beef and kidney beans.
It was not that spicy so I could handle it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Brussels All Day "Brekkie":

This had bacon in it drizzled with maple syrup.
The mix they used for this waffle was the same as the sweet ones which has a high ratio of egg white in it. Hence the lovely light and crispy airy texture.
Surprisingly I loved it because the saltiness of the bacon and sweet syrup were delicious.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fruit Waffle double Ice Cream Deluxe:

I liked the way the apple filling was inside the waffle because normally it is topped with fruits and messy to eat.

It would be great if the apples were not sweetened because the icecream and white chocolate shavings were sweet.
As well as apple, I am looking forward to cherry and other fillings.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lemon Lime drink:

This was a great refreshing thirst quencher because it was quite hot in the shop.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
At the moment, my favourite waffles are the chicken tikka, chili con carne, bacon waffle and the vegetarian.

[Review 3329] Nice modern restaurant in Sai Kung @ 咪走雞正宗葡國餐廳

I found out about this new restaurant from a fast food owner in Sai Kung so decided to check it out.

It is opened by a local actor called Brian Wong with chefs from Ireland and Portugal, which explains why they have my favourite English food on the menu.

They offer All day breakfasts and Portuguese snacks and on the second floor they serve Mediterranean food which I am looking forward to because the one and only Mediterranean restaurant Revolution Gallery Cafe has closed down.

I was really surprised with the prices because they were really affordable.
Grilled ham and cheese toast is only $48, English breakfast is really a good deal for $98 and if your looking for something light you can get beans on toast for $30.
For Portuguese flair I have got my eyes on the Bacalhau fish croquettes which only cost $45.

But unfortunately they were closing when I got to Sai Kung, so I only tried their Serradura pudding.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Serradura pudding $36:

Serradura is a layered chilled dessert made up of a sweetened, vanilla whipped cream and crushed biscuits.
It was really nice because it was not too sweet and the layers were light and silky balanced by the biscuit crumbs which were finely crushed.

[Review 3328] Dreaming on a Ferris Wheel @ Ferris Wheel Cake Shop

Ferris Wheel Cake Shop

Room A, G/F., 20 Block Front, Sai Kung Tai Street, Sai Kung

This cake shop which was opened in December last year is finally listed on OpenRice.
It is hidden in the old lanes of Sai Kung.
The shop has a nice dreamy name called FERRIS WHEEL and the logo makes you think of macarons because of the circles around it.
It also reminds me of Ferrero Rocher because of the colour!
There is a cute Ferris Wheel display.

In the middle there is a glass cabinet of cupcakes and cakes.

I ended up getting the Earl grey mousse and the chocolate cupcake.
Both were surprisingly good and I am so glad there is finally a decent cake shop in Sai Kung because the rest are local village style bakeries which I do not like.

I was really impressed with the cake box and bag too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
MR. EARL:
Earl grey mousse

The icing made the mousse cake pretty but I would have liked it without because the mousse was sweet enough.

Although the mousse looked dense and hard, it had a decent whipped texture which was airy and light.
The taste was rewarding too, it was chocolately with a strong earl grey taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chocolate cupcake:

The cupcake surprised me as well because the texture was soft and didn't crumble.

It was not too sweet with a strong chocolate taste and it did not have that nasty buttery lard smell and taste that the local cakes have.

[Review 3327] Let ur stomach bow to Bao Wow and be wowed @ Bao Wow

Bao Wow
灣仔大王東街28號2號舖
Shop 2, 28 Tai Wong Street East, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/let-ur-stomach-bow-to-bao-wow-and-be-wowed-e2359158

Previously tried Little Bao which was nice but expensive.
Anyway, here comes Bao Wow which does a good variety of Baos too.
They cost $58 for two.
[Please note that this review is quite old because I dined here a long time ago]
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Photos of restaurants:
A nice contrast of white and red.

The design of the menu was rather interesting because most restaurants emphasize their logo, but here the logo is on the corner and the 28 which is the street number is much bigger!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Taro fries:

A bit dry but otherwise ok.
As this review is old, the current taro fries are different.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Thai Fish fillet:

Fried fish fillet, Asian slaw, homemade Thai fish sauce.
The Thai fish fillet was soft and succulent complemented by the delicious purple cabbage slaw followed by a spicy aftertaste because the sauce was quite spicy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pang Pang chicken:

Shredded chicken, cucumber, crushed Sichuan spicy peanuts, homemade sesame sauce.
The chicken was really tasty and I loved the Sichuan peppercorns with the refreshing cucumber and nutty sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Teriyaki Tofu (vegetarian):
Fried egg tofu, shiitake mushroom, teriyaki sauce.

This was my favourite bao even though it had egg tofu which I do not like because the pickled vegetables were tasty and the mushrooms were strong.
I was expecting myself not to like it because Teriyaki sauce is normally sweet but the combination of ingredients in this one really worked.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sesame ginger porkchop:
Fried pork chop, shredded cabbage, homemade sesame ginger sauce.

This was quite nice but more sauce was needed because the pork chop was a bit dry.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

So far my picks would be the fish, tofu and chicken.

[Review 3326] Wan Chai's second Swissbeck @ Swissbeck

24/04/2014
Swissbeck
灣仔皇后大道東56E號2號舖地下
G/F, Shop 2,56E Queen's Road East, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/wan-chais-second-swissbeck-e2359143

The first Swissbeck in Central has closed but there are now three branches, one in Sai Kung and two in Wan Chai.

Every time I walked past, there's was cute girl inside which you can hear from the outside asking you to come in and have a look.
Even if you didn't go in, you could hear her say "byeeeee" in a cute way.

This branch is located on the corner and it is quite small.
There were fresh Cronuts delivered that day so it was hard to take photos of the shop.

To be honest, I only like their cronuts.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vanilla bun:

Basically it was a Chinese bun with vanilla curd in the middle.
The bun was dense and firm (the typical Chinese bread texture with egg yolk brushed on top).
Overall, the taste was ok because of the vanilla curd.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

All points go to the cute girl inside who I did not meet on this visit.
