I was early for a tasting at Gin Sai when I spotted this shop across the road.
They have a branch in Sheung Wan, but this branch is better because it has a wide range of baguettes, quiches and soup.
It was after 6pm so all their food was at reduced price and I got a baguette with brie and lettuce for $26 which was a bargain.

The baguette was really good because there were so many slices of Brie which was creamy and soft but unfortunately the baguette was too hard and chewy.

Ham and cheese quiche:
Nice wooden knife and fork!
The quiche looked weird, it was as thin as a pizza and the cheese on topped was brown.
I felt like I was eating pizza because of the grilled cheese on top and how thin it was.

[Review 3451] Simple Belgian baguettes and soup at Tallore‏ @ Tallore

Just a door away from the French rotisserie is this new Belgian eatery.
In Hong Kong, Belgian food is just sweet waffles and mussels, but here they sell Belgian yoghurts, baguettes, salads, pastas and artisan soups.
Soups costs from $38 for the smallest size or you can get the souper set for $78 which includes a salad/baguette.
I tried souper set and went back the next day for another soup.
With each souper set you get a free topping which is cheese or croutons.
The Belgian endive soup was wholesome and had a peppery tone.
Broccoli and blue cheese was delicious with pungent blue cheese and it was even more cheesier after adding the free cheese topping to it.
If you choose the baguette set like I did, it is actually good enough for two people.
The gouda and ham was just simple and delicious with generous slices of gouda, fresh crisp lettuce, ham and tomato smothered is delicious mayonnaise.
Went to Tallore again and this time I had the Couscous with Roasted Pine Nuts & Potato Bits Veggie Mix.
The couscous was amazing with delicious pieces of roast potatoes, apples, cucumber and it was actually tasty especially the potatoes.
Its the best couscous in Hong Kong because it is well flavoured and fluffy, other places have refrigerated it for too long or too clumpy.
I also had the Beetroot and Tomato soup because it had my favourite beetroot and tomato together so it was tangy and sweet and there was finely blended beetroot in the soup which made it wholesome.

Currently there are 1,600 paper mache pandas designed by Paulo Grangeon on a world tour. These pandas are now in Hong Kong.

Maxims have launched a panda cake series during this panda mania period to support WWF, so for every Kiss Kiss panda cake bought $5 is donated to WWF and $1 is donated if a panda cup is bought.

Kiss Kiss panda $168:

This is basically a Rocky road cake in the shape of a white dome decorated with chocolate ears and eyes.
The outer layer is vanilla mousse with another layer of of cake beneath it.
In the middle, it is filled with hazelnuts, marshmallows and crispy chocolate on a bed of light sponge cake with a hard biscuit base.


It was surprisingly nice because the vanilla mousse was not too sweet with soft cake in the middle and yummy marshmallows.
Children are going to love the marshmallows and hazelnut bits in the middle.

Strawberry mousse and strawberry jelly.
The strawberry mousse is the same except the cake is vanilla cake in the middle with strawberry mousse on top.

Chocolate mousse and chocolate jelly according to the Chinese description.



I was looking forward to the chocolate jelly but it turns out that it was milk pudding at the bottom and chocolate sponge cake in the middle.


Even though it was milk pudding, it was actually quite nice because it balanced the sweetness of the chocolate mousse.

The cup is reusable and the panda card on top can be used as a cute bookmark.

Tried the new Samba chicken burger and the cheese balls~!!

The Samba Chicken burger:
The burger has a cute football pattern on top!
However, the one I got was ran over by a mini tractor as you can see!!
There is Vatapa peanut sauce drizzled on it.

I felt that the burger tasted like chicken satay and the crispy coating was exactly the same as the coating that you find in Singaporean style cereal prawns.

Potato cheese balls:

These were better than Burger King's cheesy tots.

They actually had a cheesy taste and it tasted like eating hash browns with cheddar cheese coated in a breadcrumb coating.

This review gets a crying face because this branch is too small and the queues are chaotic.
I prefer the branches in Central because there is a digital display for pick ups and each queue is well organized.
When you do get served, the staff are snappy and it is not worth treating them nicely by ordering in Chinese.


Got two burgers because I don't know when I will next get breakfast and regretted I didn't get the egg burger too as breakfast burgers are dirt cheap.

Ham N' Cheese Burger

This should be renamed HAMBURGER because it really does contain ham.
It was quite nice but the ham patty was a bit salty with the cheese.

Chicken Muffin

The chicken muffin tastes better than KFC's chicken muffin because the muffin is chewier but soft and nicely buttered.
I really liked the chicken patty because it had hints of black pepper and there was lots of mayonnaise on it but the mayonnaise is not as good compared to Justmayo by Hampton Creek.
