Came here for a quick croissant because the queue at Simplylife was long.

Cheese and ham croissant:
The croissant was reheated before it was served but the middle was still cold.
As for the taste I was disappointed with the ham because it was hard and plastic, while the cheese was just American processed cheese.

Had dinner nearby and I was early so came here for gelato.

Peanut butter gelato:
Peanut butter is a rare flavour so I had to get it.
The gelato was nicely flavoured with peanut butter and the gelato had a lovely smooth sticky texture.

Normally instant noodles and liver are a popular pick, but decided to have rice vermicelli for a change.

Rice vermicelli with liver:
Vermicelli is just as good as instant noodles but the vermicelli has a sweet taste that goes perfectly with the velvety livers which have a slight bitter taste.

I have always wanted to try this place but couldn't make up my mind on what to have.
The new dinner set menu makes it easier for $300 which includes a starters, mains and dessert.

Here was what we had:

Started off with the baguette which had this really tasty aioli sauce made with anchovies, mayonnaise, paprika, lemon, cayenne pepper, chives.

The sauce was so nice that I ended up having three slices of baguette.

White crab meat with bloody mary sorbet and coriander:


The crab meat was refreshing and prepares you for the coming courses with the cooling yet spicy sweet bloody mary sorbet.

French snails sauteed in garlic butter with parsley puree:

The escargots were soft and tender with a strong buttery taste.

Classic mussels mariniere with French Fries:


Next had the mussels which were plump and fresh.
The sauce was thick and creamy which was great for dipping the fries.
French mustard also went well with this dish because it made it more appetizing and balanced out the heaviness with a mustard kick.

Cheese of the day with truffle honey and candied Genoble walnuts:

I would have liked different cheeses but it was a big piece of brie which I liked.

The honey truffle provides a new experience for the cheese platter because the sweetness is paired with fragrant and strong tasting truffle.

They also serve brunches too which I shall come back for.

Came here because Jolibee was closed



For dinner, there are just sets so I decided to order the pork with rice but it came with chickenwings/dessert/soup which I did not want.
Luckily I asked if I could order it a la carte without that crap and she suggested the tea set which was highly appreciated.


It was just the usual stuff, but I didn't like the vegetable rice with salted meat because it had pieces of fatty pork in it.
The pork was nice and the bones were gelatinous and soft but the sauce was too oily.

Pinakbet is a northern Philippine dish made from mixed vegetables steamed in fish or shrimp sauce.
The one at Cinta J express consists of bittermelon, aubergines, French beans, pumpkin and some pork steamed in shrimp sauce which the bright pink colour is coming from the shrimps.
Overall, it was ok, but the vegetables were not soft enough and the pork was too oily for my liking.

Had a quick catch up with my busy energetic sunshine friend, so we had a drink at The Envoy which is headed by local mixologist Antonio Lai and fellow mixologist Amanda Wan (Diageo Reserve World Class Bartender of the Year 2010 for Malaysia).
The Envoy is located on the 3rd floor of the classy boutique hotel The Pottinger.
As well as a bar, they serve lunches from Monday to Friday but as I don't work in Central I havent had a chance to go.
When you enter the bar, there are so many bottles, kegs and interesting mixology items around.
Towards the end, there is a dining area and a roof top bar.

As my friend was buying me a drink, I tried the award-winning True Blood #2 bloodbag cocktail inspired by Gram Stroker’s Dracula.
The one I had did not have any alcohol so I suppose it could be called True Virgin Blood!
This bag of True Blood got Antonio a second place in the BOLS AROUND THE WORLD 2014 Bartending Championship!! WELL DONE ANTONIO !!

It was not the first time I have tried Antonio's drinks.
As a non alcoholic person I was attracted by his beautiful creations at the Quinary and Origin.

My precious blood bag arrived promptly and I was so excited that I forgot to take a video of it in the metal kidney dish which I am really kicking myself for that!

In the blood bag is a nutritious cocktail of orange, lemon, cranberry and beetroot juice with a dash of homemade ginseng liqueur and Bols Genever. (Normal version).
The one I had was practically the same but without Ginseng liquer and Bols Genever.


The labelling was really cute too.

I wish the bloodbag was bigger but blood is precious and in limited quantities~
