As I was in the area I decided to try the famous Kaya toast.
It was a late afternoon which is why the place was not busy.
Anyway, ordered the Kaya balls and the Kaya French toast and the items arrived quite quickly.
When I tried to take photos, I was gutted that the camera was busted which is why there are no photos.
The receipt was taken at home when I fixed it.
I made the mistake of ordering French Kaya toast because it was not the one I wanted and it was too sweet, the kaya paste was too starchy and sweet compared to the ones I have tried before.

Then I tried the Kaya balls which were too hard and sweet.
They looked similar to individual eggette pieces.
Again I found them too sweet.

[Review 3574] Cuisine Cuisine's 2014 mooncakes @ 國金軒 Cuisine Cuisine

Every year, lots of mooncake tins become trash which is not environmentally friendly.
It is nice to see reusable and creative boxes.
The box can be converted into a mini tea table as well as a useful box for storing things.
As for the mooncakes, they were delicious after they were heated for about 10 seconds in the microwave.

It had a crumbly soft texture with fragrant egg custard taste without being too sweet, and the pastry was lovely and buttery.

As well as egg custard, there is molten pumpkin or bird's nest.

Came here randomly for noodles.

There are two different broths:
-Hot and sour
-Hot Sichuan peppercorn

I chose the Sichuan peppercorn because the other broth had to be paired with potato noodles.

The lady at the counter was quite helpful because she gave advice on the levels of spiciness.
I had to choose an extra ingredient with that broth because it was compulsory so chose the beancurd skin.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Noodles with beancurd skin:
The noodles were a bit bland and too soft for my liking because it did not absorb the salty broth.
However, the beancurd skin absorbed the broth very well so it became quite salty.

[Review 3572] Finally tried Musang King durian @ 貓山皇 Musang King

I have always wanted to try this place but Yuen Long is too far.
Before I went in the shop, I was given a flyer which I did not really take a look at.
The lady who gave me the leaflet strongly recommended the durian softserve.
There were other items I wanted to try such as the durian milkshake which was not available yet.
The only items that were available were the pancakes $42, crepes $58 and soft serve (dine in $68, takeaway $38).

The menu was rather weird, the crepes were called pancakes and the pancakes that looked like French crepes were called pancakes.

The guy at the till recommended the soft serve to dine in or the pancake (French crepe).

As I have not tried Musang Durian on its own I opted for the pancake because it was just pancake with durian meat. The crepe had Musang durian meat as well but it had cream too.
Anyway, after I finished the dessert my bored friend who does not eat durian noticed on the flyer that you get a free soft serve icecream with any purchase.

Initially I couldn't be bothered to redeem it but my bored friend did the deed.

It seem's that they print these flyers to attract people but if you were already intending to dine there they won't bother to tell you about the offer because they just want you to order the most expensive item on the menu ie the softserve!!

Just for fun a 2.5kg durian would cost £37.99 (HKD46X) in the UK.

When I got the pancake, the first thing I did was try the durian on its own and the taste is evidently stronger and richer which a heavy savoury taste.
I am glad to have finally tried Musang durian because it would be difficult to have a whole one to yourself.

I love the concept at Veggie Boys because it is young and fun.
At the juice joint, all the vegetables and fruits are neatly stored in the fridge.
On the wall, there is a juice selection.

The juices are made to order so you will see the boys weighing the required amount before the vegetables are blended.

Since my first visit, the prices have gone up.

Each juice has a different nourishing property.
I chose the SKIN which had pineapple, apple, avocado and romaine lettuce.

The bill was only $2 Thanks to Ivy because she bought a package of prepaid coupons so if you choose something that costs more then you pay the difference.

I adored this drink because it was lovely and thick, the juices did not separate and held together all the way through.
As for the taste, the avocado was really prominent which was why I liked it with faint notes of apple and pineapple that balanced out the creamy and heaviness of the avocado.

Overall I was impressed by the drink and their enthusiasm.

Been here numerous times and it was hard to get this place listed.

Anyway, the burgers here are affordable and the funny thing is that they taste exactly the same as the McDonalds but an improved version.

The prawn burger at this place has an egg in it and it was really nice with the mustard sauce.

Will post the full review and pictures tonight.

Thanks to Wanttoeat for getting me these marshmallows which are made by Ling.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Marshmallows:
Each one was pretty and uniquely shaped like meringue kisses.
The texture was bouncy and soft with a delicious strong vanilla taste just like the marshmallow flumps that you can buy.
I really liked these homemade marshmallows because the sweetness was just right with lots of gelatin and there are no artificial colours in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hoping to see other flavours such as Earl Grey.
