La Saison means “season” in English so you would expect exquisite food all year round with the menu designed by Jacques Barnarchon, Michelin-starred executive chef of L’Etang du Moulin in France.

He has been working alongside various top-notch chefs including Philippe Gobet, a pastry chef of Michelin three-star restaurant managed by Joel Rebouchon.
Jacques was first featured in the 1996 Michelin Guide with a “two forks” rating.

Before I brag about how delicious the food was, La Saison is one of the few French dining restaurants in Tsim Sha Tsui and seeing Benny Li 李純恩 dining there, what more can I say!!!

I didn't take a photo of him but you can see him sitting at the far bar in the middle blocked by someone but you can still see the streak of silver hair at the front.

In the private room, you can also see the chefs in action.

Assorted bread:

To start off, we had assorted bread which was yeasty and delicious with a choice of salted or non salted butter.

The bread was gorgeous with the salted butter hence I kept eating it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Amuse Bouche:

The amuse bouche really aroused my appetite because it was far more delicious than other amuse bouches I have tried.
It just clicked with me because the cheese puff had a decent cheesy taste and the other one with herring had a gorgeous cheesy biscuit base.
The crab tart was refreshing because it had a creamy yuzu dressing.
Blue cheese foam with hazelnuts and fig:

Again, another dreamy moment for a cheese lover, the whipped blue cheese was strong whilst the sweet fig beneath it lightened the strong taste of blue cheese.
The foam was complemented well with the crispy fragrant hazelnut slices.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lobster consomme with blue lobster carpaccio:

The lobster consomme was rich with finely chopped pieces of vegetables which were sweet and balanced the bitterness of the alcohol.
Then I tried the delicious raviolis which were beautifully handmade with the semi cooked lobster carpaccio beneath it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Miyazaki A4 beef tenderloin in mushroom sauce, morels and mashed potatoes served on the side:

Before I talk about the taste, you can see how perfect the tenderloin was because it was unformly seared with a juicy red centre that was soft and juicy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chestnut souffle with pear sorbet:

Next was the souffle which was fluffy and not too sweet with a fine chestnut paste mixed into it.
There was a side of pear sorbet which was refreshing with tones of pear and apple in the taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Petit fours:

The petit fours were delightful especially the toffee almond slice which was crisp and chewy with a buttery biscuit base and the chocolate tart had a gorgeous silky smooth chocolate that was not too sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Breakfast tea:

To finish off, I had Breakfast tea which ended it perfectly.

[Review 3703] Tofu icecream @ Icecream Brothers

Wandered into this mall because my friend needed the loo.
So while I was waiting, I had the tofu icecream.
The icecream was really hard and the spoon could have been bigger.
However the icecream did have a strong soybean taste.
The menu is in English, Indonesian as well as Filipino.

[Review 3702] DIY sandwiches @ Panash

At Panish, they have DIY sandwiches, so you just choose the bread and filling, queue up, pay and collect your sandwich.
I chose the bread with ham and cheese but I was annoyed they don't ask you if you want it toasted or not.
The sandwich was ok but the portion was really small.
It was a nice combination of mustard, cheese and ham.

[Review 3701] Decent Curries @ 喜瑪拉雅餐廳 Himalaya Restaurant

As I had this a while ago, the prices might have gone up.
Ever since I had their lunch buffet I have been meaning to go back because the variety is good.
In the end, I ended up coming here a few years later and the quality was just as good which is reassuring.

For lunch, a drink is included, but I found the banana lassi too sweet and the banana taste was a bit artificial.
As water was given, I was not really bothered with the sweet lassi.

They give you scrumptious chewy but crispy naan which is perfect with the curries.
The curry selection is good but you have to get their early because not much is refilled after 1:45pm.
Here was what I had.

I really enjoyed the curry buffet because the taste of the curry was not spicy and the rice was soft and delicious with my favourite tikka meats and yoghurts.
Although the curries in UK tastes better, the Indian rice in Hong Kong is better because they don't use as much colourings as they do in the UK.

The bill was less than $100 which was a bargain!

[Review 3700] Great snacks @ 通達食店 Tung Tat Food Shop

27/09/2014
通達食店  Tung Tat Food Shop
旺角花園街172號地下
G/F, 172 Fa Yuen Street,, Mong Kok
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/great-snacks-e2394963

These snacks are great to have once in a while, but it is strange that locals complain that fries and burgers are greasy when these fried snacks actually contain more oil which you can visibly see in the photo below.

I ordered the fish shaomai, stuffed green pepper, two pieces of tofu with fish patty on iyt.

When it came, they all looked lovely with a juicy green pepper that had gone slightly yellow.
It was served green pepper skin side up because part of the stuffing had gone.

Anyway, the snacks were decent because the frying oil was fresh and the colour of the fried snacks were nice and pale. (Not golden enough for Hong Kong standards, but great in my opinion).
The fish patty was slightly chewy and did not contain any grounded bones with a strong fish taste that most places don't have.
The fish shaomai was ok because it was flavoured by the soy sauce and it was not the type that clearly tastes of fish flavoured flour.

Saw these vibrant yellow desserts and when I realized it was my favorite lemon meringue I decided to get one.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lemon meringue dessert cup:

The dessert was surprisingly quite nice, it had a layer of cake, lemon mousse, a piece of peach in the middle and lemon curd jelly on top with a chewy soft egg white meringue.
It was quite refreshing to find a piece of canned peach in the middle and I loved the balance of the sweet meringue with the tart lemon mousse.

[Review 3698] Push Pops Dessert @ 龍島 Lucullus

Push Pops are an 80s hard candy contained in a simple cylindrical stick a plastic tube.
It allows you to control the amount of candy you have by pushing the candy up from the bottom of the base.

I am not sure if this was available in Hong Kong but you can google it to see what it looks like.

Anyway, when I walked past Lucullus I was surprised to see they had desserts in a Push Pop form!!!

At Lucullus, they are called DESSERT TUBES.

There were three flavours: Strawberry mousse, mango mousse and chocolate.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Strawberry mousse:

The strawberry one was quite sweet but the strawberry flavour was strong with delicious strawberry jelly on top.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chocolate mousse:

The chocolate was my favourite because there was a delicious layer of tart berries in the middle which went nicely with the chocolate mousse and cake layers.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mango mousse:

I didn't try this but my friend said it was very fruity with a strong mango taste and mango fruit pieces in the middle layer.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Aftermath!!:

The container was really cool so I have kept it for making jellies!!
