To coincide with the Disney film Frozen, Maxim's have launched a series of cakes and desserts.
I tried the desserts which were beautifully designed like a crystal ball that cost $42 each.
This was the most creative dessert I have seen so far produced by Maxims with the spoon incorporated as part of the design.
There are two flavours: Chocolate or White chocolate mousse.

The white chocolate mousse has white chocolate flakes and marshmallows on top. It was not as sweet as I anticipated and I was delighted to discover some strawberry slices and cake at the bottom.

The other one was chocolate mousse which was thick and silky topped with chocolate and marshmallows on top.

After finishing the dessert and cleaning it out, you are left with a pretty crystal ball!

Celebrate Christmas with Kee Wah's festive box set

I used to think Kee Wah Bakery sold just mooncakes, Chinese Bakery and Preserved sausages but it was more modern than I thought.

As well as Chinese tea leaves they also have festive products for Christmas.

They have launched a Christmas Box set for $135.

In the green tin, it was filled with crumbly cookies.
There plastic box is well labelled in English and Chinese which makes it a great Christmas gift for everyone.

They have a restaurant nearby but this one is better because it is on street level.
I tried the chicken and pork.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Three cups chicken with fragrant sesame rice:
The chicken was really good because it was boneless strips of chicken and the rice tasted amazing but perhaps a bit heavy for lunch.
The rice tasted like peanut butter but it was a bit too salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pork with fragrant rice:
The pork was not that good because it was fatty strips of meat!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Their signature soups were disappointing because the pumpkin soup was too sweet.

Randomly came here and the prawn and chicken pie was interesting but it was a strange pairing for a pie because prawn is not usually paired with chicken.
Anyway, decided to get the toastie.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
cheese and tomato toastie:
Ok, there was not much cheese in the toastie.
Although there was not much cheese in the toast, it was proper cheese which tasted amazing, the sourness of the tomato and the saltiness of the cheese were so delicious together and the bread was toasted just right with a crisp surface and soft centre.

There are two different broths at this joint:
-Hot and sour
-Hot Sichuan peppercorn

Tried the Sichuan peppercorn so this time ordered the Hot and Sour broth which I can rarely order because it is always paired with Yunnan rice noodles or potato noodles.

Here they let you choose instant noodles with both broths.
For some weird reason the broth does not say hot and sour on the receipt, but the broth I got was the right one which was ok.

Instant noodles in Hot and sour broth:

The broth was really tasty and heavily spiked with spices with a hint of of sourness.
When the noodles went soft and soaked with broth, it was really delicious and I loved the tasty beancurd skins in it too.

Previously tried this other drink which was really good so came back for the Chocolate lavender tea.
The decor at this restaurant was cute and they had many different floral sugars such as lavender sugar, rose sugar etc.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chocolate lavender tea:
I had the cold tea which was shaken hence the lovely froth on top.
Although there was no milk in it, there was a strong cocoa taste with a hint of lavender that wasn't over the top.

Huge Jammie dodgers!!
2014-11-25  675 瀏覽
If your British then you should be very familiar with the Jammie Dodger biscuit.

"Jammie Dodgers are a popular British biscuit, made from shortbread with a raspberry flavoured jam filling. They are currently produced by Burton's Biscuit Company at its factory in Llantarnam. In 2009, Jammie Dodgers were the most popular children's sweet biscuit brand in the United Kingdom, with 40% of the years' sales consumed by adults." quoted from Wiki.

Anyway, I walked past this Chinese cafe and saw these over sized Jammie Dodgers and Palmiers!!!!
If you see the size of the JD on my hand, then you can imagine how big that Palmier was!!

I didn't expect it to taste nice but it was fun eating it!!

The Chinese version had apricot jam in the middle but between the biscuit there was not enough jam so it was a bit tasteless.
If would also taste nice if they used Malt sugar syrup because it is sweet and chewy which would go well with the tasteless biscuit but it was good that it wasn't buttery.
Apart from that, I really liked it and I wished I got the huge palmier too.
