[Review 3904] Nice veggie burger at Burger deli @ Burger Deli

Tried the new veggie patty but as I didn't want the bun I had it without just like Beef and Liberty.
I had it with guacamole which was really nice because the veggie patty and the guacamole went deliciously well together.
The veggie patty had rice and cheese in it and it was not too crispy so the cheese in the middle was slightly stringy.

The patty tasted like the one at Texas burger and Fat burger.

As usual, I was tempted by their little tuck shop selling poptarts, gobstoppers, Nerds etc.

[Review 3903] Finally tried Louie Bakery's cake @ 樂怡餅屋 Louie Bakery

I have always wanted to try this cake shop but Fanling is too far away, finally tried it because someone ordered a cake from Louie Bakery for a private party at Ar Hung's delicacies.
The cake was huge and the icing structure was fully supported with a chocolate slab that was pushed into the cake just like how they drive piles in the ground for supporting buildings on top.
Anyway, beneath the fancy icing was a soft sponge cake layered with cream and fruit.
The cake was quite nice and not too sweet.

Thank to KC for this Honey cake, again Shatin was too far but now they have a pop up shop at K11.

Anyway, I got this cake before the pop up shop.

The cake was really nice, packaged nicely in a box which kept its freshness.
As for the cake, it was soft and you could smell the honey as well as taste it.

[Review 3901] Hong Kong style Roast duck burrito @ Cali-Mex Taqueria

Saw on Cali-Mex's facebook that they were going to serve this Hong Kong style Roast duck burrito with whole USA Duck roasted to perfection sliced onto their homemade 12” tortilla served with Mexican rice, sliced cucumber, fine leek, fresh cabbage and a special fusion chipotle mayo hoisin sauce.

When I ordered I was asked them if they did a bowl version and they must have thought I wanted a bowl version which is why it was not a burrito.

The duck burrito bowl was good but the hoisin sauce in the mixture was not prominent enough and there was not enough sauce to give it that kick.

I felt that if there was more hoi sin sauce then it would have made it tastier because hoi sin sauce contains yellow beans which has that beanie kick to it that is similar to magic of refried beans.

Kale the new health hero

For those of you that are not familiar with KALE, Kale is a vegetable with frilly leaves that is high in beta carotene, vitamin K, vitamin C, and rich in calcium. Kale is a source of two carotenoids, lutein and zeaxanthin.

It contains sulforaphane (particularly when chopped or minced), a chemical with potent anti-cancer properties.

Kale is said to boosts DNA repair in cells and appears to block the growth of cancer cells as well as lowering cholesterol and decrease absorption of dietary fat.[citation needed]

Quoted from Wiki, so if that's all true, then KALE is a real hero for our health.

Anyway, I kept seeing these delicious sliders on Facebook and salads from KALE so I was really excited for it to open. They are really creative because they make so many things out of kale for example kale biscotti.
When it finally opened I went there.

It is on the 13th Floor of Cheung's building near the Sheung Wan MTR.

When you enter the place, you are greeted with a lovely seaview and buildings nearby.

The stools are stylish because they look like unicycles.

The menu was simple and clear with a choice of sliders, dips, fries and drinks.

I went for the sliders, fries with a dip, wheatgrass shot and a drink.

It was really good that everything had Kale in it from fresh kale leaves to kale and pesto sauce.

Sliders
I chose three sliders: chicken, tofu and falafel.

Falafel slider:

The falafel slider was interesting because the falafel patty was moist and soft flavoured by lovely spices. There was pesto and kale sauce on top which gave it an amazing flavour.

Chicken Slider:

The chicken slider was colourful and delicious topped with fresh kale and tomato and dressed with creamy avomayo sauce which was avocado and apple cider vinegar.

Tofu Slider:

The tofu slider was my favourite because the piece of tofu was huge and tasty with cucumber, kale and tomato.

Fries:

This was a mix of sweet potato and potatoes which were sweet and delicious, they have garnished it with fried sweet potato skin on top for more flavour and a bed of kale.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Avocado hummus:

The avocado hummus was divine because the avocado gives it that smooth texture blended with chickpeas.

The wheatgrass shot was surprisingly good because I was expecting it to taste grassy but it's naturally sweet.

Apple pie from Shatin 18

There was a recent hype for apple pie because there was a local Hong Kong film which featured apple pie from this cafe in Tai Po.
I have never tried it because Tai Po is too far and so is Shatin.

Thanks to KC for this apple pie.

It was my first HONG KONG APPLE PIE, the ones I tried before were the smaller versions!

This was a huge one!!
 0 讚好

It was loaded with so much apples in it!!!
There was a mix of Granny smith and red apples according to the label.

Interestingly I found the apple pie sweet but KC said it was tart but then I have a very high tolerance for sour things.

As for the rest of the apple pie, I had it the Western way paired with cream and custard!

Went here because of the omelette, I managed to try this place because I was in the area to buy something.

The omelette is cooked with a stinky herb according to the Chinese menu, and in English it is called Cha-Om according to this travelling-foodies blog.

When it came, I couldn't smell anything abnormal so the herb probably gives off the smell when it is raw.

The only abnormal smell was the chili sauce because the fish sauce has gone smelly.
 5 讚好

Anyway, the omelette was fluffy and delicious with lots of Cha-om but it was a bit too salty for my liking.
