I came here because I saw some reviews showing Chongqing style noodles with other noodle choices as well as the potato noodles.
I happened to be seated infront of one of their staff who was having their dinner and she somehow saw me struggling with the order form so she grabbed it and asked what noodles I wanted and whether I wanted to add any extra stuff which sorted my problem!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chongqing style:
As well as the noodles, they also put crunchy yellow beans in it which were quite nice.
There was not much noodles in it but it was really spicy and tasty but the green beans were way too salty.
I regretted not ordering the beef belly and tendons because they looked really good.

[Review 4172] ginger purple sweet potato latte @ Gaba Concept

Came here especially for the ginger purple sweet potato latte.
They serve it hot or cold but there was no price on the board so I don't know if it costs different hot or cold.
The name latte was a bit weird though because Latte is a coffee drink made with espresso and steamed milk.
I wonder why it isn't called ginger purple sweet potato milk.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
ginger purple sweet potato latte:
Luckily there was no coffee in it and the bottom of the drink was heavy sweet potato puree with ginger.
It was not too sweet and the ginger was not too fiery and complemented the sweet potato nicely.
I would advise stirring the drink to mix the milk, ginger and sweet potato to get a balanced taste.

[Review 4171] I know where Seafood Stand stand's and whr I stand @ Seafood Stand

Seafood Stand

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/i-know-where-seafood-stand-stands-and-whr-i-stand-e2431163
Discovered this on the way to dinner but as I still had time I stopped by for a small snack.
The prices were quite cheap but then it is located in TST East which is about right.
I wanted to order the grilled lobster with cheese but the lady couldn't tell me whether is was Mozzarella or Cheddar cheese.
She just said it was ordinary cheese which leaves a lot of guessing so I did not risk ordering it incase it turned out to be processed cheese or Mozzarella which is stringy and tasteless so I settled for the fish.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Roasted Wild caught cod filet with lime juice:
I am not sure if they mean cod but the appearance and taste is not quite like the chunky cod species that I normally get from the chippy or the UK.
The idea of roasted cod with lime juice sounded good because citrus juices are a great complement to seafood.
When it arrived, the fish was as good as I expected in terms of presentation because it had a lovely crispy skin even though it didn't look like cod.
The lime juice was not juice but a lemon sauce for lemon chicken that is thick, more sweet than sour.
If it came with a wedge of lemon or lime or a pot of lime juice mixed with herbs I would have given it higher marks.
The fish, whatever fish it was tasted great because the skin that was attached to it gave it that extra fishyness and kept it moist and soft but the oil was a bit old which had a slight aftertaste otherwise the fish would have got top marks too. Again if it was proper lime juice or lemon, it would have balanced the old oil taste but then not everyone has sensitive tastebuds that can taste slight differences.
The ketchup is interesting because they have mixed black pepper and herbs in it.

The restaurant decor is stylish.
Here was what we had.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Slow cooked egg:
This was slow cooked egg on Iberico sobrasada and chicken consomme.
A strong chicken soup which went nicely with the delicate poached egg and Iberico sobrasada which tasted like my favourite snack pepperami.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tuna tataki:
This was lightly seared tuna over sliced potatoes and piquillo peppers sauce.
The tuna was tasty with a nice umami aftertaste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pimentos de padron:
These were traditional green peppers from the North of Spain sauteed and finished with flakes of sea salt.
Basically they tasted like mini green peppers with a soft texture.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Anchovies and piquilllos:
Cantabric smoked anchovies with a piquillo blanket and shaved Spanish almonds which were a delight because the anchovies were tasty complemented by the crunchy almonds.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hokkaido scallop:
This was a piece of Hokkaido scallop over a sea urchin sauce on a bed of wakame seaweed.
The sea urchin sauce was rich and creamy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Just serrano:
For ham lovers, this will satisfy your ham craving.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
egg waffles:
This was a famous HK style egg waffle topped with savory serrano ham.
An interesting pairing of sweet and savoury.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
roast suckling pig:
Slow cooked crispy suckling pig served with zucchini and apple puree.
The suckling pig was tender and soft with a crispy skin.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tropical smoothie:
A nice smoothie with a strong pineapple taste that was not too sweet or sour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crema catalana:
The creme brulee had a nice touch of cinammon while the texture was smooth and velvety.

[Review 4169] Still good @ Healthy Chicken

Shop A2, G/F, Khuan Ying Commercial Building, 87 Wellington St., Central

Came here for more chicken but things have slightly changed because you can't choose two different rices like before.
Each extra scoop costs extra.
Anyway I had the chicken wings which were hot and delicious and they use plastic boxes instead of the paper boxes.
The chicken wings were big compared to the baby ones you find in HK.
To finish off I got the fruit water which tasted amazing however I could not find any of the bottles in the fridge containing blueberries as shown on their IG pic.
Anyhow, the drink was divine, it had hints of apples and I could also taste cinnamon even though there shouldn't be any and it tasted sweet so there could be some sweeteners.
I have also dined here before this visit so there will be another review coming up but the experience was slightly different because things have changed.

[Review 4168] Instant noodles in mock sharks fin soup @ 陳記魚蛋

Previously tried 陳記魚蛋 in Wanchai where the lady got her stardom scowling at the camera on axxxx xxxly.
Now that shop has closed so went to a different branch.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Instant noodles in mock sharks fin soup:
Before she put the noodles in the bowl I had to stop her because she put the noodle condiments in the bowl as well which is going to make it super salty since mocks sharks fin soup has a strong taste with lots of MSG.
It is strange that is it not common sense to leave out the condiments if the sauce/soup is already flavoured.
I had the same experience with Instant noodles with Sichuan sauce at another joint which was ruined because they put the condiments in the noodles.
The noodles were quite slimey and good for slurping but you have to be careful because they were really hot.
Anyway, eating these noodles reminded me of Western pot noodles which have a thick soup.
There were pieces of shredded chicken which were tough and stringy because they were there just for the flavour.

Haven't been here for a while but suddenly remembered this place for waffles when I saw them listed as a openrice finalist for the Best Restaurant Awards
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Waffle filled with apricot:
Previously I have tried the apple version and this one is an improvement.
The apricot filling is just as good as the apple but this time there were less white chocolate shavings so it was not cloyingly sweet and there was a good layer of cream which complimented the waffle and apricot filling.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Then I tried two chocolate waffles which were made with Belgian chocolate.
They look like Liege waffles but they are not and have a chocolate brownie soft mushy texture. Personally I like them with cream but dessert and sweet tooth lovers will probably like it with icecream.
Chocolate waffle with amaretto:
