Had a lovely gathering with foodie friends that I have known for years, hence our new bond and motto "All for one, and one for all".

It was nice to have some crab before the crab season starts because I will appreciate the taste more when I have it once in a while.

Here was what we had:

Crab soup with bird's nest

Started off with this hot soup loaded with fresh crabmeat and bird's nest.
It was light and delicious loaded with protein from the bird's nest.

These are young crabs that are only three months old and the crab roe is light yellow with a bitter aftertaste.

The crab roe for this crab was slightly denser with a stronger taste infused with salt and spring onions.

Seared scallops in red wine sauce

The scallops had a crispy surface which had a fragrant red wine aroma and the sauce was sweet and appetizing with fresh sugar snap peas beneath it paired with crunchy black fungus.

Typhoon shelter crab

Allthough I have eaten crab many times I still have trouble with the crab shell but this time I finally learnt the trick which is to wrap the crab with tissue and tap it with the crab pliers.
After removing the shell I was left with tasty crabmeat!!!

As well as crab, there was fish and it was Steamed Turbo done in two ways.
It was filleted fish and stir fried with vegetables and the remains of the fish was coated in flour and fried.
I really liked the chunks of fish in light gravy and the fried fish was even better because the crispy fish was moreish in the crispy batter.

The guys ordered the beef so we got this huge plate of beef slices.
It was surprisingly good because the beef was crispy on the edges and tender in the middle but I wish there was mustard sauce too.
Anyway, if they hadn't ordered this I wouldn't have known they did beef too.

To finish off, I had my favourite noodles cooked in crab oil.
The noodles were a great carbohydrate filler for those who need to have rice or noodles in their meal (ME!~!).
If you happen to order the Typhoon shelter crab earlier with the crispy pieces of garlic and chili, save some for the noodles because they make a great accompaniment.

Went here again because I wanted to try the Urban icecream waffill.

The place was packed.
Started off with the Waffle with hazelnuts and icecream because I really miss their traditional waffle which was light and crispy.

Then I had the new Urban icecream waffill.

It was filled with delicious icecream, caramel bits and banana, the taste was really similar to one of the milkshakes that they serve.
The waffle wrap was firm and had a nice chew to it which held the waffle and icecream together.

Icelollies and softserves are not a necessity but when they are really delicious they become a necessity to me.
They started becoming a necessity when Lola's icepops came around because they tasted natrual but unfortunately they do not have fixed shops.

It just so happens that ISEE ISEE and Icelicious have just opened serving these handcrafted icelollies so I had to try both.
ISEE ISEE is more expensive but they also served icy desserts like Icelicious.
It is nice how the menu is made up of huge wooden lollisticks.

When I got there, the flavour I wanted to try was sold out so I had to get the Cheesy Raspberry which is served in a cup!
The icelolly tasted quite milky but the cheesy taste was not that heavy and the raspberry part is the bit in the middle so you can't really taste it until you get to that part.

To be honest, I think the Earl Grey is probably one of the best flavours but it was sold out.

I will probably come again when they have another flavour that attracts me.

Tried the Bella Vita Sunday Brunch on the first day it was launched.
Basically it is all you can eat for $498 including Prosecco, white and red wine, juice.
I liked the grapefruit drink because they mixed it with some carbonated water which gave it a nice fizz and they had tea as well.

The seafood is all you can eat and they will serve a seafood platter and oyster platters which you can order again when you want some more.

For pastas, these are cooked to order.
Basically you select a pasta from a choice of Linguine, capellini, penne and spaghetti and choose a sauce from a choice of Arriabiata, vongole, carbonara and bolognese.
The sauces I recommend are bolognese and Arriabiata and for pastas I like linguini and capellini.

The portions of these are quite small which is good because you can try more pastas.

For the mains, there are steaks, lamb and seafood to choose from.
We chose the Florentine steak which can be ordered for an extra $80 per person (minimum of four people because the steak is quite big).
The Florentine steak is a T-bone steak with tenderloin and strip steak on the other side.

To finish off, there were a nice choice of desserts such as chocolate pudding and mixed berry mousse.

Kiwa is located in Sai Ying Pun near the Connaught Road exit of SYP MTR.
Went there for Japanese seiro which is food steamed in the seiro.
Kiwa is a very spacious restaurant hence the tables are big enough for their full sized seiros.

As well as Japanese fare, they have a good range of sakes with a pamphlet that shows all the sakes they serve.

Started off with the appetizers which were poached fluorescent squids and fish slices. Both were a good starter.

Then we had sashimi with 5 different types of fish including: threadfin, golden pike, fatty tuna, prawns
My favourites were the threadfin.

Next was the soup which gave me a surprise because they had sponge tofu and the tiniest cute clams which I have never seen before.

Then it was Hiroshima oysters cooked with konbu which had a strong taste of the sea.

After the soup and oyster, it was time for the seiro, the fish slices were put in first, and then the prawns and alaska crab legs.
The steaming helped keep the freshness so that the seafood was delicately cooked without losing its flavour.

Finished off with a grilled rice ball and inaiwan udon which was really filling.

For dessert they had icecream but I was too full to eat it.
