Went here for dinner and the food was reasonable.
The interesting part was the dessert, there was icecream and Chinese sweet soups which you can help yourself to.
The red bean dessert was starchy and sweet with a strong fruit peel flavour.

Ricerolls and mock sharks fin soup are cheap local favourites but here they have added lobster to it which brings it to another level.

This place used to be this lovely noodle place which has moved to a better location near the Brickhouse.

Anyway, went there on a Saturday.
As soon as I sat down, the waitress was already pouncing beside my table waiting for me to order, but I knew what I wanted so I was ready to order.
I would have appreciated it if she told me that all proceeds that day were donated to charity which I found out when I saw someone pay into the charity box.

Here was what I had:

mock sharks fin soup with lobster:

The soup was not hot enough so I had this first before it got any colder.
It was a lovely oil free, msg free soup with springy pieces of lobster tail in it.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
ricerolls in lobster sauce sprinkled with dried prawn roes:
 3 讚好

As I had the soup first, the ricerolls were not really hot but I liked the texture of the ricerolls because they were firm and not too soft.
It was covered in delicious lobster gravy and there is more prawn roe on the table if you need to add more.

I was expecting the lobster gravy to be stronger because it was not strong enough.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Tofu stuffed with prawn paste in lobster gravy:
 4 讚好

These were cute bite sized tofu with prawn patty on top in the same delicious gravy above sprinkled with prawn roe.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Barley drink with herbs and ginger:

The drink was pleasant and not too sweet.

It was actually $138 but I didn't have any change so I put $140 into the box.

[Review 4393] Possibly a musubi burger? @ 唔係漢堡 Not A Burger

This place has a catchy name because it is called NOT A BURGER so it gets you curious on what it is going to look like.

Walked past and discovered that they use rice as the burger with fillings that are not patties. There were so many choices to choose from.

On the wall, there is a poster of rice vs bread but I don't quite agree with the blood glucose argument because rice has a high glycemic index and the rice that they serve here is pearl rice.
 1 讚好

It was the perfect treat for me because I love rice and the rice had bits of seaweed mixed into it.
I chose the ham rice burger because I like luncheon meat (spam) but I requested it without kimchi because I am allergic to that.

The staff could have been more helpful because there was a folded stool and they didn't really give me any indication I could use it but I assumed it was for customers.
Anyway, I tried to unfold it but had difficulty figuring out how to unfold it and they were not really helpful or even offered to help but in the end I figured it out.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Ham rice burger:
When it came, it was wrapped in a cute foil wrap.
After I asked for cutlery they gave me a plate which was helpful. The burger looked like two plain musubis with luncheon meat and tuna mayo in the middle. The spam slice was rather thin and the the tuna mayo had delicious cubes of radish in it which balanced the mayonnaise with a sharp crunch.

The warm rice and fried spam was just delicious together.
The tuna mayo was nice but I would have liked a simpler option of just rice and a thick slice of spam!

[Review 4392] Taxillus Chinensis Tea with Lotus Seed & Egg @ 海王漁港

Didn't really take photos of dinner because it was the usual Chinese stuff ie Chicken, fish and roast.
We had desserts after dinner which not really my cup of tea but they had Taxillus Chinensis Tea with Lotus Seed & Egg.
Taxillus Chinensis is a weird name, but if you google it that is what you get!!
Anyway, I didn't really like it because it just tasted sweet and bitter.
The red date puddings were chewy and too sweet with that weird red date smell.

The dessert menu:

[Review 4391] Hidden sushi gem @ 水木日本料理 Mizuki Japanese Restaurant

I have explored quite a bit of restaurants in Wan Chai but rarely restaurants in commercial buildings that are higher than the first floor.
Ironically, this place used to be S.A.E which was a place I wanted to try.
I was recommended this place by expats and when I got there, the restaurant was filled with Japanese expats and Western expats.
It was encouraging to see blue_balu review this because she only reviews places that are worth visiting.
The food was quite pricey but they had some interesting dishes that were on the seasonal menu.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Started with three appetizers:
Sharks bones which have been cut into small pieces and had a texture like hard cartilage. The sauce was appetizing and they had an interesting chew.
The Sea cucumber in vinegar which I was expecting to be soft had a texture like raw squid but the acidity of the vinegar was nice
Whelk slices in wasabi sauce were nicely spiked with a powerful mustard kick.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Here was what we had for the mains:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Kinki fish:
The fish was salted and dried but the fish was still delicate and moist with a lovely crispy skin.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Noodle salad:

The portion was huge and it was ramen tossed in sesame sauce topped with fish roe.
The noodles reminded me of Chinese chilled noodles called "jung wah lang min".
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Sushi platter:
striped jack, kinmedai (金目鯛), fatty tuna, botan shrimp, sea urchin, salmon roe, tuna.

The sushi was fresh and neatly made.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Beef cubes with crispy garlic:
The beef was juicy and lean enhanced by the crispy garlic slices and the side of mash was delicious with bits of vegetables in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Red miso soup:

Compared to white miso, this had a stronger soy bean taste balanced by the sweet shimeji mushrooms.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Purple sweet potato dessert from Wasakuraya.

The dessert was velvety and smooth with a natural purple sweet potato taste that was sweet with a savoury aftertaste.

After buying a crappy tiny Swiss roll for $68 I decided to investigate what $69 could buy.
I ended up getting a crème brulee cheesecake for $58, which is cheap as it was on promotion for $58 as an introductory offer.
Anyway, it had crisp caramelized layer on top which is why it is called a crème brulee cheesecake.
The texture was dense but velvety and the cheesecake had a fragrant creamy aftertaste.
It was sweet as well with a hint of lemon and it tasted of camembert.

Little Burro used to be the only Mexican place in CWB but now there is Cali-Mex.
Spotted it earlier when they had bright boards around it.
Now they are open!

Tried the breakfast which was only served in the mornings before and now it is served ALL DAY! Hoooray!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
All day breakfast Crispy bacon bowl:
I love their bowls but the breakfast bowl is even better because there are fried eggs.
The runny egg yolk with the guacamole and salsa tastes so amazing and beneath the sauces there is tasty Mexican rice and my favourite refried beans.
I also added extra spinach for $8 but it wasn't really necessary because the bacon was good enough as it was crispy and delicious but it would be great if the whole bacon was crispy.
Unfortunately, one of the new pressed juice flavours was sold out so I got a bottle of coke instead.
