Found out about this dumpling joint Thanks to LLWL.
The name DTC captivated me because DTC stands for dumplings, tea and coffee.

They have designed the name nicely so that the dumpling has a D inside it, while the teacup has a T in the middle and the coffee cup has a C in it.
The decor was interesting because it definitely had nothing to do with dumplings.
There was a reindeer on the menu and two reindeers above the counter which can't be related to dumplings.

There was also this Chinese Emperor poster thing.

It has definitely succeeded hitting the expat market because the dumplings choices are good.

I went for the cheese and bacon dumpling.
Since the name is called Dumplings, Tea and Coffee, you would expect DTC to have lots of choices on dumplings, tea and coffee.
The choice of dumplings were good because they had truffle as well but for Tea and Coffee, the choices were extremely POOR.

For teas, it was just HK milk tea, there was lemon tea as well but the tea is made from the same red tea base.

I wish there were more Western teas or Chinese leaf teas.
As for coffee, there were only two choices either coffee or cappuccino.
Anyway, the food took about 15 minutes to arrive.
Here was what I had:

I thought I was going to see bacon and cheese but I couldn't see any, however there was cheese and bacon taste to it.

Chicken roll:

When it came, it reminded me of greasy kebabs in the UK but unfortunately it wasn't because they don't have them here.
The chicken roll was a bit oily but it tasted nice, it was chicken, julienne cucumbers and carrots wrapped in a crispy roti!
It was quite a nice roll because the chicken was tender and springy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
To be honest, the food was good but it didn't fulfill the T and C part of the name hence the OK rating.

[Review 4561] Interesting decor @ Castello 4

4/F, Oliv , 15-21 Sharp Street East, Causeway Bay
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/interesting-decor-e2482271
To be honest I was captivated by the decor which reminded me of the TV series calle Babylon 5.
Anyway, the food was ok and a great place for gatherings.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Nicoise salad:
0 讚好
The salad dressing was a bit sharp but the egg was a bit Chinesesy because it was an omelette sliced into julienne shreds.
Other than that, it tastes ok.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Portobello stuffed with creamed spinach:
I found the creamed spinach too milky for my liking.
It would have probably tasted better if it was just spinach on its own.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Braised short rib:
The meat was soft enough but the sauce was not strong enough and the mash was also Chinese style because it tasted really sweet and had a weird viscious texture.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Mac N Cheese:
The crisp cheddar cheese on top was quite nice but the pasta sauce was a bit too oily, garlicky and sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Creme brulee:
It tasted ok but again, it had the same milk taste as the creamed spinach.

Maxims have launched these cute Tsum Tsum dessert cup series which cost $32 each.
Currently, there is Mickey, Little green man and Buzz light year and the flavours are strawberry mousse, tiramisu and chocolate mousse respectively.
Coming soon, they will launch Winnie the pooh, Tigger and Stitch.
All the dessert cups had fruit on top and my favourites were the chocolate and tiramisu but popular sellers are the little green man and Buzz light year.

[Review 4559] Boxing glove gimmick! @ 金田家 Kanada-ya

銅鑼灣登龍街34號地下
G/F, 34 Tang Lung Street, Causeway Bay
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/boxing-glove-gimmick-e2482077
Went here because of the boxing glove gimmick.
As well as HK they also have branches in London.
The UK Kanada-ya website has menu and prices but the HK one doesn't have prices but it seems a HK thing to not put prices.
Basically it is a competition to finish your noodles in the fastest time and the one who does gets tickets to Japan and back.
Other prizes include watches.
I went for the Original ramen.
The ramen was firm and the broth had a strong fish taste which was strange but it was thick and viscous and not too oily.
It was not too salty and didn't have MSG which was good.

Thanks to Mira Dining for the lovely Moon Festival treats.
I liked the mooncakes because there was Chinese Ham and Chinese date which I haven’t tried before.

Mixed nuts mooncake with Chinese ham:
Sweet, chewy with lots of nuts and savoury Chinese ham.

Chinese date puree mooncake with pine nuts and double yolks:

A fragrant date puree that was thick and silky contrasted by the velvety salty egg yolk.

The piglet cake is really cute which is inside a little basket.

[Review 4557] When Helena meets Helena @ 好蔡館

好蔡館

G/F, 1237 Canton Road, Prince Edward
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/when-helena-meets-helena-e2481915
I went here because of a bowl of gooey stuff that I saw kanlee post without knowing what it was.
It turns out that this place specializes in Chiu Chow cuisine, which differs from your usual Chiu Chow fare such as oyster omelettes and marinated duck.
The restaurant was nicely done up compared to other restaurants in the area and the guy who looked like the boss seemed well dressed and knew his stuff.
I managed to deduce that the female owner had the same English name as me from her photos on openrice which is interesting because not many locals would know this name, although there is a famous actress in HK with that name.
I was given this name because I was named after a Finnish friend of my parents but many locals can't pronounce it and hear this other name.
Anyway, let’s get back to the food.
I ordered the gooey soup, noodles in liver sauce that came with a bowl of pork bone soup.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Foh jup:

There isn’t an English name for this dish so I won’t bother making up an English name for it.
Basically it was like soup with pieces of flour which are like sheets of lasagna made of rice flour and the gooey liquid consists of the broth and flour.
In the soup, you will find pieces of tofu puffs, pork intestines and bits of meat.
I found it really tasty having the broth and the pieces of rice sheets together because the sauce on top was strong with hints of aniseed and soy sauce taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Noodles in liver sauce:
0 讚好
They have used a special goose from Shantou which has big livers to make this rich sauce.
I liked how a simple dish of noodles was made luxurious by adding liver even though the owner says it is not foie gras quality liver.
The noodles were thick and velvety with a slightly bitter aftertaste.
To be honest, I prefer the taste of these livers because they were heavier and thicker.
After vinegar was added, the noodles become more appetizing because it cuts the heaviness of the liver.
On top of the noodles were slices of Chinese sausages and fried spring onions which are really springing with taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pork soup:

The soup looked good because of the milky white colour and it had a slight creamy taste balanced by the pork broth.
