Having been to Akrame next door, I knew this place was going to be good.
I was looking forward to dinner because they specialize in meat and potatoes.
During lunch and dinner priced at HK$448, diners can indulge in L’Entrée, La Viande, L’Accompagnement, and Le Dessert.
Started with thinly sliced smoked beef that has matured in 50 days, it was flavourful and appetizing before dinner.
We also had the Pata Negra Bellota Pure Origins Iberian which is waxy.
The cheese was my favourite because it had a light taste which was enhanced by the Caractère olive oil that has a lovely peppery taste.
The starters are accompanied by fresh bread served in a small paper bag.

For the L’Entré we had Duck Leg Terrine with Vinegar and Baby Onions and Risotto with Beetroot and Smoked Haddock.
I liked the risotto because it was rice shaped pasta which gives it a better flavour.
For the mains, we had the beef flank and the Iberian Pork Rib.
The pork was thick and juicy.

Then came the potatoes, my favourite aspect because I love potatoes!!!
There were five different types!!
Gratin Dauphinois, Pommes Darphin, Sauteed Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes and Pommes Dauphines which are unlimited.

The pomme Darphin is amazing, crispy and fluffy in the middle!
For dessert, we finished with Custard with Vanilla Ice Cream and Caramel Profitoclaire with Chocolate Tonka.
The Caramel Profitoclaire with Chocolate Tonka was really nice, it was covered in a strong caramel that was not too sweet covered in crunchy hazelnuts.

This was a box of ready to eat potato salad which was mixed with salad onions and mayonnaise.

It was nice and creamy with crisp sweet onions but the potatoes could have been softer.

Apart from pastas, I was surprised there was a Beast Feast at Linguini Fini, which costs $458 per person (minimum 6 persons or more).

I was expecting lots of meat but it was antipasti, a cute suckling pig with vegetables and dessert.

Started off with garlic bread which was crispy and chewy served with a tasty sauce, then there was a tangy green salad and my favourite homemade burrata which was creamy.

After that, we had the Whole Sausage Stuffed Suckling Pig served with vegetables and pickles.

The pickled cauliflower and beets went nicely with the pig because it balanced the fattiness while the chili mostarda (spicy mustard) made it appetizing.

It was fancy mustard mixed with spices that were really addictive.

There was Classic Linguini Fini Pomodori so you don’t miss out on the famous pastas.

We finished with Apple Pie with Lily & Ran Vanilla Ice Cream.

For drinks I had the Beetnik which was a blend of beetroot, orange, carrot and basil.

It was not too sweet with a slight bitterness from the orange peel

[Review 4576] Singaporean in the East side of HK @ 班蘭小館

This place serves Singaporean food hence it is called Pandan something in Chinese.

Went here for lunch but there was only one Singaporean dish on the menu.

It is so sad that non-Cantonese restaurants have to serve a majority of Cantonese dishes during lunch to get more customers because the locals are just too conservative on their food choices.

On the wall were some interesting dishes because the combination of ingredients were weird but this place has some hard core fans who have opened an account just to express their opinions on this place.

Tomato and mountain yam with vegetarian abalone
Lemon and pepper pork
Singaporean oyster omelette
Coconut sugar and black vinegar fish

+++++++++++++++++++++++
Anyway, tried the Singaporean chicken, which was ok but not outstanding and tried this other localized dish which was chicken with pumpkin and okra.
The chicken dish was a bit too oily and sweet but tasted ok however I didn’t like the chicken because it had chicken skin attached to it.

Finished off with the pandan barley drink, which was quite soothing and not too sweet.

Got this because I love clotted cream and it seemed delicious the fact that it had Dorset clotted cream in it.
I couldn’t quite taste the cream because it was mixed into the scone but the pieces of strawberry were quite fragrant and it was not too sweet.
To conclude, it would definitely taste good with some whipped cream!

It is clever how they have cooked unwanted salmon fish skin with a thin layer of salmon attached that is thrown away when the salmon is used for sashimi to make an edible meal costing $36.
The fish was quite oily but the texture was soft like jelly and it was quite tasty that you didn’t need the spring onions which are a bonus.
It is good to see that this grubby gem is still here two years after my last visit!

[Review 4573] Crab style East meets the West @ Holy Crab Bar and Restaurant

I was quite surprised to discover that Holy Crab are doing an “East Meets West” menu in conjunction with The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Hong Kong and The Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong and Macao available from now until the 16th of September 2015
The menu features 4 Western, 4 Eastern and 2 Specialty Cocktails.

The Western menu uses Canadian seafood and ingredients, created by Salient Group’s Executive Chef Mark Kerkstra while the Eastern menu has been created by Chef Cuisinier of the French Embassy in Bangkok, Chalee Kader referred by The Royal Thai Consulate of Hong Kong.

To be honest, I have a Western palatte so I was naturally attracted to the Western choices, however the locals will probably like the Eastern menu because it uses a lot of lemongrass and Asian spices, although the soup looks good.
