After the first visit, I was craving for more Chinese sausages because both types taste good.
I never eat the red ones because it is normally oily but here they are fragrant and delicious.
You can choose the bowl for $55 or the plate for $60, for the average person the bowl should be a sufficient portion but as I find it easier using the plate, I opted for the plate.
There were two red preserved sausages and two liver sausages.
The red sausage tasted really good with a fragrant Chinese wine taste and the texture was soft but not as soft like Western sausages.
As for the liver sausages they were good as well and extremely velvety but they were on the sweet and bitter side this time.
Perhaps if I had eaten the liver sausage first then it would have tasted better.
The only let down was the rice because it was too soft and not hot enough.

With a month of Best of British coming up, I have decided to write about The Cabin because they serve real English food.
This is my regular haunt because it tastes just like home.
It was nice that other foodies who have lived in UK before liked The Cabin.

We started off with afternoon tea.

A good selection of sweet and savoury treats that had trifles, scones and sandwiches.

I loved this drink because it was fruity and tasted really natrual.

Crisp lettuce and prawns but I would have liked the sauce to be stronger.

Juicy beef yorkshire pudding:
A sunday roast summarized in a Yorkshire pudding. It was a mini Yorkshire pudding filled with a slice of juicy roast beef topped with creamy horseradish which had a lovely mustard kick to it.

Cream cheese stuffed portobello mushroom:
A tasty earthy mushroom with cheese and crispy herbed breadcrumb on top.

A flawless soup that was refreshing and appetizing.

Herb crusted grilled salmon with mango sauce/sour cream:
The salmon was delicate and tasty complemented by the herbs and sauces.

Lancashire lamb hotpot:
Tasted like home, delicious pieces of lamb in gravy which you could taste the sweet onions and carrots.

Cottage pie:
The cottage pie was divine with lovely chunks of meat and young carrot slices that were sweet in a rich gravy that had a fragrant Thyme flavour.

Nice pork with a crispy skin that went fab with the apple sauce.

It was my first time at AVA hence I was mesmerized by the beautiful views of the harbour.
Went there for the winter menu which costs $628 per person or an extra $250 with wine pairing which I did not opt for.
Started with bread and the famous tricolour butter made by AVA.
There was pesto, garlic and tomato butter.

Quinoa with avocado mousse wrapped in eggplant mixed salad:
The salad was good especially the greens because the salt in it made it tasty.
As for the eggplant, they had a smokey charred taste and aroma.

Cream of morel mushrooms soup with fresh cream:
Wine: Casa Lapostolle Chardonnay 2011
The soup was good but I found it a bit too creamy.

Wine: Casa Mentelle Sauvignon blanc semillon
The risotto was nicely done because the grains of rice were al-dente covered in rich creamy sauce which was balanced by the saltiness of the caviar.

Slow cooked beef wagyu cheek
With herbs and white wine , mash, veg
Wine: Chateau gemeillan medoc cru bourgeois 2011
The beef cheek was a bit dry for my liking and not gelatinous.

Granny apple & rum raisin crumble with vanilla sauce
Wine: bottega prosecco DOC NV
For dessert, we finished with this apple crumble which was jazzed up by rum.

I rarely go to HH because it is inconvenient but found out there was this interesting place called Oakland founded by three talented people.
It took me a while to find i because it was on the 1st floor above the public swimming pool.
Inside there was a comfortable sofa and nice décor.

Here was what I tried:
Thai Nong drumstick with shum shum shum fries:
The chicken drumstick was surprisingly good because the chicken was juicy and springy paired with their delicious chili sauce that had a nice fiery kick without the Hong Kong style sweetness.
The fries are topped with cheese and bacon according to the menu but there was not much cheese on it.
Although there was more mayonnaise than cheese, it still tasted good.

Toast with egg:
The toast with egg was ok but the mushrooms at the bottom were a bit watery.

It came with icecream but it was nice without it and I would prefer custard or cream to go with it.

The custard pudding was thick and creamy.

Went here again for lunch and there was not much on the lunch menu to choose from.
The chicken is there everyday, then there was stir fried beef noodles, steamed meat patty, pork chop or fish.
I got the fish because chicken is risky and you might get skin and bones.
The fish was nice and crispy when it arrived so I quickly scraped off the nasty sweetcorn sauce and had it with rice and added chili sauce which tasted good.
The bittermelon soup was really nice because it had a nice bitterness to it and there were pieces of bittermelon that you could eat.

However when I got the Gelato, the presentation was a bit funny, it was gelato smeared on the edges with a side that was empty.
My friend who had it from this branch a few hours before me said her cup of gelato was normal.
Anyway, the yoghurt gelato was on the sweet side but it was quite nice with a flavour that is similar to yakult.
