It's drawing near winter finally, so if your a local, it is time for hotpots, snake soup and preserved sausages.

At Kee Wah, they have traditional sausages.

The sausages make great gifts to overseas relatives because they have English and Chinese instructions.
Both sausages had fragrant Chinese wine in it which you could smell when they were being steamed and when they were ready to eat.
Personally I prefer liver sausages because I love that rich taste with pieces of liver infused with fragrant wine that is really strong.

The first time I have tried this was in Central and now they have another branch in CWB.
The menu has slightly changed and the curry comes in one size only and rice is unlimited which they didn’t tell me at the Central branch nor at this branch until I asked.
I got the vegetarian curry with prawn broth at Level 1 spiciness and it was quite spicy.
The vegetables were delicious but there was not much okra or asparagus in the curry as stated.
The natto beans were not viscous or slimy enough for my liking.

Walked past Saint Honore and saw these cute mini rolls so I got one of each flavour.

Each one had a nice presentation with filling in the middle that you see.

The three flavours were:
*chocolate and banana

*green tea and red beans

The chocolate one was the best because the chocolate cake was not that sweet with a strong cocoa taste.
The matcha one was the second best but I didn’t like the red bean filling and I didn’t try the mango because I hate mango and it had a whole chunk of mango in the middle.

[Review 4838] Fast food Thanksgiving @ The Diner

Went here because of the Thanksgiving pumpkin pie milkshake.
It was blended with Vanilla ice cream with pureed pumpkin, brown sugar & pie spices topped with vanilla bean cream.
It was thick and creamy with a good kick of cinnamon.

They also had a Thanksgiving burger which was neat because it was all the Thanksgiving ingredients in a burger.
In the burger, there was a ground turkey patty, pan gravy, fresh baby spinach leaves, red onion, cranberry & orange sauce, sweet potato hash cake & hickory smoked ham.

The freshly made pecan pie was nice but a bit too sweet.

There are not many branches of Maxim’s that sell these fake baked potatoes because they need a heated cabinet.
In the cabinet there are also other items such as hotdogs and puffs.

I suspect that they look too much like real potatoes hence people are fooled and don’t buy them because Hong Kongers don’t like spuds.
Anway there are three flavours:

Bacon:

Tuna:

Triple cheese:

The bacon and tuna visually can fool you but I got the triple cheese and tuna because I don’t like bacon.

I didn't like the bun because it was sweet.
(The usual Chinese type of bread/bun that it is sweet).

I loved the filling because of the mash and cheesy sauce.

As well as fake baked potatoes, they had a meat roll that looked like a Sausage Roll.

MEAT Roll:


Full marks on presentation because it looks exactly like a sausage roll but does not taste like a sausage roll because they have used the wrong herbs and the sausage meat needs to have an equal mixture of fat and pork.

After dining a Yours Bistro discovered this place on the corner which is on the 4th floor of a nice building.
Had the Christmas set which costs $388 per person.

Started off with bread.

Then I had the SIGNATURE seafood platter which had:
- Fresh Oyster
- Cocktail Shrimp
- Sea Whelk

All of the seafood were fresh and sweet.

Next had the PUMPKIN AND FRESH CRAB MEAT CREAMY SOUP which was creamily thick and sweet in taste.

For mains I chose the PAN-SEARED BEEF TENDERLOIN FILLET WITH GOOSE LIVER SAUCE which was tender and juicy.
Just the type of steak that I like.

Finished off with CARAMEL APPLE WITH VANILLA ICE CREAM which made it a nice ending.

The Christmas dinner I had will be available from the 23rd to 25th Dec at $388 per person.

Initially I was hesitant coming here for dinner because most Kowloon restaurants serve localized Western food.
After analyzing the menu, it was clearly different and comprehensive because they even had il Flotante which is a proper French dessert.
I like the way the menu at Yours Bistro is professional with proper French dish names.

The restaurant is in Jordan but is distant from the hustle and bustle with decent European décor.

I had the Christmas dinner which costs $328 with 4 courses including a glass of wine.
The starters were hard to choose because 3 out of the 4 choices were good but luckily there were three of us so we chose them all.

Started off with the bread basket and clearly the mini baguette was cute and delicious.

Then we had the Amuse Bouche / Pre-starter Teaser which was smoked salmon.

STARTER - Crème Ninon (green pea soup):

Crème Ninon is a soup with a base of a heavy stock purée of green peas and dry champagne.
I loved it because the taste of fresh peas were strong and it also tasted like mushy peas.

Both the beetroot salad and fig salad were good but it depends on whether you prefer beetroot or goats cheese, but for me I like both so it was a difficult choice.

As well as turkey there is a steak option.

Dessert - Gâteau au Fromage:

The set dessert was cheesecake and it was surprisingly good because it was light with a delicious lemony taste like Marks and Spencers cheesecake.

If they have this, it is a must order because the fondant is beautifully done and the custard layers are not too sweet.
