Discovered this riceroll at Hung Fook Tong, so decided to try it.
I think this snack is going to be quite successful because the other snacks like chicken leg, eggs and shaomai aren’t really filling carbs.
The riceroll comes in two flavours: pork in sesame sauce or beef in black pepper.
I decided to go for the beef because pork can be smelly if it is not fresh.
The riceroll came in a long tubular cardboard packet with a vacumn sealed pack where you peel off the back to eat like a banana.
The glutinous rice was nice and soft but the black pepper really ruined the riceroll because it was too strong and hot that it tasted bitter and you couldn’t even taste the beef.
Hopefully they will launch a vegetarian and a chicken one because I reckon it would taste nicer.

I have always wanted to try this place because of the creative dessert but Yuen Long is such a trek.
Discovered this place because I was having dinner nearby hence the reason I only had a drink.
I had the Lychee soda which had a good fizz with a fragrant lychee syrup flavouring.
There was a flashing LED cube in the drink hence the light.

Hope to come back for desserts.

[Review 4969] A fine dining bar @ Cima Fine Dining Bar
17/01/2016
Cima Fine Dining Bar
灣仔軒尼詩道239號3樓
3/F, 239 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/a-fine-dining-bar-e2534973
I didn’t know what to expect at this place because all I knew was that it served Japanese and Western food.
When I arrived, I was greeted with a screen that stretched across the bar showing impactful videos.
The bar table is an aquarium stretched out like the screen with tropical fish swimming inside.
We sat in view of the screen and had fancy cocktails and dishes.
Here was what we had:
++++++++++
Caprice salad:
Tomato, sesame sauce/ molecular fish roe/ edible flower.
0 讚好
A refreshing colourful salad that tantalized our palates.
++++++++++
Roasted Hokkaido Scallops: $160/3 pcs
-Butternut Puree, Dry Bonito, Lobster Foam
0 讚好
These were delicate scallops dressed in light sauces.
++++++++++
Grilled wagyu beef:
A4 Japanese wagyu beef/mash/mixed vegetables/oden turnip/perigord truffle
The beef melts in your mouth and it was paired with a nice mix of vegetables.
++++++++++
Braised lobster:
Morchella, sea urchin/cream/minced garlic/spring onion bulb/edamame bean
The lobster was springy surrounded in a delicious creamy sauce.
++++++++++
Seafood carpaccio with plum sauce:
Snapper/salmon/scallop/sea urchin/shark cartilage/salmon roe/cherry vinegar/turnip/olive oil/balsamic vinegar/celery/lemon
An appetizing carpaccio with a touch of sweet plum sauce decorated with edible gold foil on top.
++++++++++
Cima special roll:
A4 Kagoshima beef/sea urchin/salmon roe/tuna/caviar/crabmeat/sushi egg/cucumber/Kabayaki sauce/gold leaf
The roll was a nice combination of everything.
++++++++++
Wine cooler horse carpaccio:
This was an eatail, which means edible cocktail.
It was a blend of fresh pressed orange juice, egg yolk, olive oil and celery salt, Wine cooler poured onto a Martini glass with horse meat on it, finished with an orange peel.
It was my first time consuming horsemeat and I was quite surprised that the layer of fat was thick because horses don't look visually fat.
Anyway, the texture and taste was a bit like parma ham.
++++++++++
Linguini with Seared Foie Gras in Balsamic:
-Cepes, Goose Liver, Balsamic Reduction
Although it looks heavy, it was not because the linguini has this sweet and sour balsamic taste with a prized goose liver on top.
++++++++++
The drinks served here have a touch of Hong Kong because they are named after some notable places in HK.
Kai Tak:
Strawberry, chili, tequila/pomegranite syrup/crushed ice
Just like Hong Kong weather sweet and hot!
++++++++++
Rednaxela (named after a street called Alexandra was spelt backwards which is just off the mid level escalators near the mosque)
Cream/japanese egg white/Frangelico liquer/icing sugar/ground nutmeg
Tasted a bit like baileys with a foamy texture.
++++++++++
Dragons back:
Scout Whisky, Fresh Ginger, Fresh Lime, Icing Sugar and Ginger Ale
This one was my favourite because I like the citrus gingery tones.
++++++++++
M Mariage:
Lychee liquer – cranberry fresh lemon juice lemon peel
Didn't try this one.
++++++++++
Fairy:
Lychee Liqueur, Green Mint Liqueur, White Rum, Fresh Grape fruit and Tonic water
Didn't try this.

[Review 4968] A classy place for dinner at Osteria Felice @ Osteria Felice

Osteria Felice

After going to the carnival, Osteria Felice was close by so went here for dinner.
Friendly waiters greeted me and the one who was responsible for our table was really nice and knew so much about cocktails.
They had a create your own Martini option where you tick a gin or vodka base and then match it with different options as shown on the sheet.
I chose dirty Vodka with pickled garlic which came out surprisingly well because it had a savoury smell that made you ready for dinner.
The strawberry cooler was also good because it had a natrual strawberry taste with a great fizz.
After the drinks we started on the dishes, there were so many of my favourites on the menu so we ended up ordering too much and we were quite full by dessert.
Started with roasted Heirloom cauliflower’s which were flown from Australia, they were pretty in white, green and rare purple garnished with capers.
The florets were crispy as described by the waiter with a nice salty flavour to it.
Then we had the classic Vitello Tonnato tuna mayo a well-known Italian cold dish of sliced veal covered with a creamy, mayonnaise-like sauce made with tuna.It was creamy and had a strong tuna taste with tender thin veal slices beneath it.

The crostini turned out to be a star because it had creamy burrata cheese and smoked sardines.
The sardines were different because it had a silky texture with a nice salty taste that paired wel;l with the cheese and crostini.

For pasta, there were two must eat items: Squid ink linguine Hokkaido sea urchin and parsley and Linguine with Sicilian red prawns cherry tomato.
I just love red prawns and the linguine was al dente while the squid ink linguine was infused with white wine and prosecco.
Our last main was the roast duckling with grappa-preserved cherry sauce, which was meaty and tender paired with a cherry sauce that was slightly bitter and sweet.
1 讚好
We finished dinner with Tiramisu and chocolate fondant with mozzarella gelato.
I loved the Tiramisu because the alcohol taste was prominent.

The chocolate fondant oozed with runny chocolate sauce.

This time tried the chicken bowl which was quite nice because of the sauce and not the chicken.
The coating was light and crispy with no weird old oil smell and taste.
There was finely shredded cabbage which made the rice and chicken very appetizng.

I havent been here for ages so went here for lunch and discovered they have new items since my last visit.
Tried the bowl which had minced pork cutlet and prawn cutlet.
The minced pork was nicer than the pork cutlet because it is not too dry and the prawn cutlet was delicious but the prawn texture was strange and seemed like a reconstituted prawn meat in the shape of a prawn with the tail included.
As for the green tea horlicks, it was ok but not impressive.

I don’t know why I went here but tried the sizzling spaghetti with beef.
Unfortunately, the spaghetti was disappointing because it was too elastic which is not like the normal spaghetti.
Anyway, the sauce didn’t taste good either because it was quite sweet.
