A while ago I was going to bring a friend here for their birthday but as this place just opened they didn't open on that Sunday so now that friend was here on this visit.

We started on the crab cakes which were loaded with silky crabmeat in the middle.
They tasted nice without the mayonnaise.
We also had truffle fries which were sprinkled with truffle oil and truffle salt.
The truffle aroma was strong, but if it is not strong enough, there is a side of truffle mayo as well.

Now to my new favourite!
The scallop roll.
I am not keen on scallop but the scallop here is a MUST EAT!
As well as the scallop, it also came with coral (roe) and the colour of that coral was vibrant orange making it look damn delicious.
Not only did it look good, it was divine! I loved it because the scallops were lightly seared so it had that semi cooked sashimi texture and the roe was soft too in this butter sauce that was not too overwhelming.

My friend liked the Pulled beef short rib roll.
It tasted like pulled pork in a sweet smokey sauce.

The crab roll was just as good as the first time I had it.
It was pure delicious crab meat in the soft crispy roll and I was so happy eating it because how often do you get so much crab meat that is off the shell and without the trouble of deshelling it.

We finished off with some refreshing drinks.

[Review 5418] An Ice-lolly that has a liquid centre! @ Ice' Licious

I would be here all the time if it wasn't such a trek because it is in between Wanchai and CWB but nearer to WC!
Anyway, I love the icelollies here.

Now they have gelato as well as icelollies.

I went for the strawberry icelolly which has a liquid centre.
You get a free scoop of gelato as well but I wasn't in the mood for it so I didn't have it.
Unfortunately, I found the strawberry ice a bit too sweet but the condensed milk in the middle saved it because it was sweeter so it made the strawberry not so sweet.
I really liked it because it was like having strawberries and cream while looking like strawberry splits.
Hopefully, the strawberry part won't be so sweet next time.
The condensed milk in the middle is quite runny so be warned.

[Review 5417] $98 tea set! @ Mango Tree

I thought I heard it wrong when my friend told me about this $98 tea set but it really exists.
At Mango tree, they are doing this light set where you can choose the snack platter or sweet platter with a drink and it only costs $98.

If you are feeling hungry, you can choose both the sweet and savoury platter with the drink for only $128.
The deal is pretty good as the restaurant is quite relaxing with a good view when it is not too sunny or raining.

As I had a big lunch before coming here, I chose the dessert platter and a drink.
The drink was difficult to choose because all the choices looked good.
In the end I went for the Trio frozen smoothie because it was colourful with crunchy colourful pieces at the bottom which taste like water chestnuts.

All the items were pink and pretty.

My favourite was the strawberry puff because the strawberry slices were sweet paired with delicious strawberry mousse.

The strawberry layered pudding was interesting because you don't often get strawberry flavours in Thai cuisine.

[Review 5416] Italian food at Cadenza @ 大公館 Greater China Club

At the Greater China Club, they now serve Italian dishes at Cadenza.

We went there for dinner and here was what we had.

Started with tartare which looks like your usual beef tartare but in fact, it is vegetarian made with tomatoes with a secret recipe sauce.
I really liked it because I love tomatoes and the secret sauce tasted like Lea Perrins Worcester sauce which gives it that sweet, sour and spicy punch with a hint of dark colour that makes it look like beef.

Next we had deep-fried cepes risotto “Arancini” which were filled with beef cheek ragout black truffle sauce topped with foam.
Personally I liked it because the beef cheek has a lovely texture and it was like eating rich beefy riceballs.

Then we had fresh Oysters (Left to Right)
United States – American Pearl
France – Gillardeau
Australia – Sydney Rock
The oysters were fresh and my favourite was the Sydney rock which is the saltiest.

Next were the scallops with fresh almond, apple and black truffle dressing.
A great dish on a summers day.

For the mains, we had Maine Lobster risotto with deluxe lobster jus, Papardelle with tomato braised beef and Black Truffle Spaghetti.
The papardelle was my favourite and the Black Truffle Spaghetti was quite strong in flavour.

We also had the Black Augus Gold Label Australia Rib Eye (14 oz) which was lean, soft and juicy.

Finished with these flattering desserts which were beautifully presented.
The best one was the surprise egg which has a chocolate egg shell, mousse egg white and a runny yolk centre.

“Piña Colada” in our way
(for coconut lovers)

Caramel Panacotta with Carmelized almonds
(quite sweet)

For drinks, I had the Pineapple Mojito which had a strong taste of fresh mint leaves.
The pineapple taste could have been stronger.

[Review 5415] Avocado soymilk smoothie @ Papillon Caffe

I needed something cold to drink so went here.
There were so many smoothie choices but the one that caught my attention was the avocado and pear.
As I don't like pear, they were able to blend it without and it was blended with soymilk.
They don't put any sugars in it which is why they paired it with pear so that it makes the drink sweet.

The avocado smoothie was really good, it was extremely thick as it was mostly avocado and it was nice that they gave me a spoon to stir it.
It was like drinking a blended icy avocado so it was nice and cooling with a lovely savoury taste.

Went here for some curry and they basically serve the Japanese style curry in a stone bowl.

It wasn't spicy but flavourful and appetizing on a hot day.
The portion was quite big so I didn't finish it all.

The pork cutlet was nice and lean with a crisp coating.
