I have always wanted to try this place but it is very intimidating to go in because the people dining there are a bit weird and stuck up.
Finally went on a quiet day and had some soup.
The soup was actually quite nice and tasted natural with bits of sweetcorn and carrot in it.

[Review 5493] Speechless @ 飼說 Speechify

飼說 Speechify
銅鑼灣怡和街42-44號華人銀行東區大廈2樓
2/F, Hong Kong Chinese Bank Causeway Bay Centre, 42-44 Yee Wo Street, Causeway Bay
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/speechless-e2657451
The photos look captivating but when you get there, the choice for food and drinks are limited.
I wanted the white bait fish with rice but that was sold out so had the pistachio and spinach farfalle pasta.
The idea was good but the sauce was a bit too rich and thick like peanut butter.
The salad was too sweet for my liking and the roll was spilling out with some sort of oil which was probably butter in the middle.
I liked the broccoli soup which tasted like baby food even though it doesn't look green in the photo.

[Review 5492] Best fried chicken from Seoul @ TwoTwo Chicken

TwoTwo Chicken

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/best-fried-chicken-from-seoul-e2657409
Found out about this new fried chicken joint from a friend and not openrice's new restaurant directory.
I don't use the new restaurants list anymore because it only shows new restaurants with ratings so I can't truly find the new ones which is resulting in a vicious circle of rigged comments for new restaurants.
Anyway, tried it for late lunch.
Ordered half original chicken and half spring onion chicken.
0 讚好
Tried the original first which had a perfectly crispy coating and wafer thin skin with juicy chicken beneath it.

The spring onion one was even better because it had a nice sweet glaze that was not too sweet making it really appetizing.
I was tempted to try the spicy one but it looked quite spicy.
For drinks, I finished with the cooler which was a sweet concoction of mint, cucumber, soda and orange juice.

Customer service is better on weekdays because on the weekends, all these nasty tourists come and flood SK causing traffic jams and minibus queues.Went here on a Sunday when there were lots of bloody tourists and service was slow and pushy. This place is famous for Thai food but we also had chicken wings as well which were ok but a bit cold. After a while the sauce turned into jelly.

Got this from Ivy which is a Green tea croissant brownie.
It looks like a Pain Au Chocolat but filled with a green tea brownie.
Tasted quite nice but the green tea paste was quite starchy.

Went here for dessert as it was a touristy thing to do.
I wanted to order the star pancake but it was $68 and not that convincing as a pancake because it looked hard and crusty on the product photo.
It might have helped if I asked the staff about it but I couldn't be arsed!
To be on the safe side I had the grass jelly with Vanilla sauce because grass jelly is just jelly and the vanilla sauce is icy milky sauce!

[Review 5488] Beautiful fine dining @ Le Rêve

Le Rêve

10/F, Zing!, 38 Yiu Wa Street, Causeway Bay

After reading a glowing review on this place by FoodMeUpScotty, I knew this place was going to be good because he dines at the best places.
There is a eight course set menu and the one I had was A harmony of earth and sea.
Started with warm crusty bread rolls which were inside this brown bag on top a huge dried brown leaf.
The first course was EVOLUTION which was scallop tartar with radish, pears and Japanese ginger with a slice of beetroot on top.
A refreshing sweet and cool start to dinner.
It was then followed by tomato soup which was actually tomato essence. I loved that concentrated tomato taste.
Next came SAISON which was presented like a beautifiul painting.
It was Saury fish with tofu sauce, aubergine puree and my favourite couscous.
The elements blended well nicely and the bitterness of the herb helped cut through the strong flavours.
The third course was TRADITION.
It was Kimedai, I absolutely adore this fish and it was nice that the sauce wasn't too overpowering so I could taste the lovely fish with the spring onions and ginger.
I even drank the bit at the bottom because it had a brilliant infusion of the fish and spring onions.
Moving on to a slightly heavier course, it was CONNEXION which was lobster and spelt wheat.
The lobster was springy and the spelt which had a nice mouthfeel was in this creamy sauce.
Moving on to the EARTH element of this dinner, SAUVAGE was next.
An evenly marbled fat Satsuma beef from Kagoshima served with salt, wasabi cream, black pepper and sauce.
The beef was nice on its own and personally I think just adding salt brings out the best taste of beef.
Before we had desserts, RAFRAICHISSANTE was served.
It was a very sweet refreshing sorbet with sweet peeled grapes on top.
It was then followed by POUSSE, a fluffy white chocolate mousse with olive oil which you mix into it.
An interesting dessert.
The last course PAIX was petit fours which were a perfect ending with tea of coffee.
In addition we also had this CREME BRULEE mocktail which was so addictive with mini grilled marshmallows on the side.
Can't wait to come again when they have a new menu and full support to three guys who used to study in the UK .
