What a great way of starting Chinese New Year by gathering with friends and family having delicious and photo worthy food.
The restaurant is spacious and I love the way the lights are aligned.
Cute steamed bun samples
Truck of mushroom steamed buns:
Black roses
We started with the Social Prosperity Toss (“Lo Hei”) which is laid on a bright sheet of pink paper.
After mixing, it was ready to eat and I loved it because it was finely shredded vegetables.
Here were the other dishes that we had:
Stunning charcoal custard buns brushed with edible gold paint on top with a runny custard centre.
Soft and fluffy with the right level of sweetness.
It was my first time drinking this watershield soup with fish balls and I loved it because the watershield leaves look like pond leaves with a slimy viscous coating and the fish balls were like marshmallows and whipped egg white balls which break when you touch them.
The chicken and coconut in clay pot soup was also good because there was a strong chicken and coconut taste that was really sweet.
Next were the stunning ‘cherry’ (foie gras) costed in red wine glaze.
The cherry goose liver was velvety and fragrant complimented by the mouth watering red wine gel coating.
We also had the hairy crab with Chinese wine.
The crab meat was infused with a fragrant sweet wine taste.
The dim sum platter gives you a good variety because it is boring when you have three or four of the same type.
In this steamer you get squid ink prawn dumpling, mini runny taro bun, lemon prawn dumpling, crab dumpling and a sweet red date pudding.
My favourites were the prawn and the mini taro bun.
The pork knuckles in sweet vinegar sauce must be ordered because they are so soft and gelatinous.
For veggies we had spicy cauliflowers which were jazzed up by the spices.
I didn't try the pigeons but they were apparently very good.
To finish, we had some great desserts, my favourite was the coconut sugar sago palm.
The sago balls were big with a good chew.
The duo panna cotta (pistachio & durian) were also good.

Wimbledon everyday at Cafe de Paris Est. in Korea

During the Wimbledon tournaments, the UK consumes around 23 tonnes of strawberries and 7,000 litres of cream every year.
Now you can get strawberries and cream Korean style 365 days a year.
{The cream used in Wimbledon is different as it is single or double whipped cream which is different to the fluffy cream used here. }
At Cafe de Paris Est. in Korea, they specialize in these bon bon cups which are filled with cream, fruit and some sorbet in the middle.
They began their first shop in Korea in 2009 and since then many people have flown over from HK to try it.
The founder used to study in France hence the cafe has a Parisien decor.
There are three to choose from at the moment: Strawberry, Cherry and mango.

Clearly my choices were going to be strawberry and cherries.
It is so difficult to get cherry desserts in HK and the cherries they serve here are fresh.
The best thing is that it does not cost more than the strawberry because cherry anything is always marked up, so I don't know if this is the reason restaurants don't serve it or HKers don't like Cherry.
The cherries are also more time consuming than strawberries because they need to remove the stones one by one.

For drinks, they have teas by Comptoir Richards with lots of choices and my picks are Earl Grey, Cherry and apple and Vanilla caramel.
In the end I went for the Cherry tea.
Cafe de Paris Est. in Korea is self service, so you order and collect when your order is ready.

Strawberry bon bon:
I did have my doubts on this because in Asia they don't serve real whipped cream but synthetic cream that is fluffy and firm.
Anyway, the cream was slightly better than anticipated because it was sweetened with powdered sugar which gives it a nicer taste than other sweetened synthetic creams.
Each strawberry was juicy and sweet which tasted so good with the cream.
In the middle there was some sweet strawberry sorbet which made the strawberries taste sweeter and the flavour was natural.
+++++++++
Cherry bon bon:
The cherry is the same as the strawberry except there is cherry sorbet in the middle.
I loved this because the cherries are fresh, not canned!!
Again, all the cherries were sweet and fantastic.
+++++++++
Cherry and apple tea:
Finished with the cherry and apple tea which was really fragrant and natrual.
+++++++++
A bit pricey but damn good.

Stopped by Sayvour after the Chocolate Trail at Harbour City.
They have so many chocolates to choose from, the alphabet range is fun and creative so you can personalize a box for someone.
The Chinese New Year sets are also good with pretty festive illustrations on the chocolate.
I tried the dark chocolate which was smooth and velvety and the buttery mini palmiers which are really cute.
The cookies are delicious as well as pretty and they are available in different flavours.

Got these from Kung Fu Dim Sum.

After slicing and shallow frying it, the pudding was ready to eat.
You can either shallow fry it directly or dip the slices in egg before frying.
The pudding was similar to mochi but the texture was much denser and stickier and not too sweet with a hint of coconut milk.
For the radish pudding, I liked the chunky white radish pieces in the middle with lots of dried shrimps and preserved wax sausages in it.

Literally on the menu, they are 1,2,3,4 in Chinese.
Tried all four.
The first one was a challenge, it was big and you have to drink the hot broth inside with the straw first.
After that, you are left with bits of crab roe in the middle.
The second were pork dumplings with crab roe, so it had a lovely mix of pork and crabby taste.
The third one was just plain pork so vinegar is needed otherwise the pork oil gets too overwhelming.
The fourth one was just filled with glutinous rice and I loved it because I love carbs but it needed chili sauce and they didn't have it.

It was a damn hot day today so I had to get something cold to cool myself down.
Got the purple potato smoothie which was $58, so it was quite pricey.
LUCKILY, it was good otherwise it would have been a waste of money.
It was literally purple potato blended with ice sweetened with coconut sugar so the sweetness was quite natrual.
THANKFULLY it was not too sweet either.
