New flavours at Noah Castella

Noah Castella has been around for quite a while but this is my first cake from them.
I never intended to try them before because they one had one flavour and I assumed it would be the soft Japanese cheesecake texture.

Recently found out they had this new Earl Grey tea cake so decided to give it a try.

The cake was surprisingly good because the texture was like cake and it wasn't dense.

In the middle it was slightly runny.

As for the taste, I loved it because it had a strong Earl Grey tea taste and it wasn't to sweet as stated.
I got the bottled drink because I liked the glass bulb bottle.

Toyosu Suisan has been a success since they opened with fresh ingredients imported from Japan.

Now there is a second branch in Yau Ma Tei conveniently located near the MTR exit.

I attended the opening in mid Jan where they kicked off with a drum performance and preparation of a whole Maguro which was served that day.
After watching the performance, I went upstairs and had the Flying Maguro bowl with soup.

It was just simply delicious because all the ingredients were fresh with diced cucumbers, fresh yam, abalone, maguro, prawn, salmon roe and egg.The salmon roe was just amazing and bursts in your mouth with saltiness.


I was surprised they also throw in the abalone liver and the size is quite big in comparison to the abalone.


Last but not least was the soup which was rich in flavour.

You are supposed to drink the soup first but I prefer to eat first as the soup fills my stomach.

The Korean food here is quite good so I am surprised why they don't have another branch.
Anyway, they have a good range of non spicy dishes to choose from.
Went here on a Saturday evening and it was packed with people but the food came surprisingly fast and the staff were really friendly.


Here was what we had:

Purple sweet potato mochi:

As well mochi, there was Caesar salad in the middle which makes it value for money.

The sweet mochi tasted good but I would classify this as a dessert more than an appetizer.

Noodles in a creamy squid ink sauce topped with blue mussels:

This dish was surprisingly good because the sauce was tasty and each strand was covered in thick sauce.

Fried chicken with bread and lava cheese:
This was my favourite because it had all my favourite items: fried chicken, crispy bread and CHEESE!~

The fried chicken was not so spicy and it was tender springy pieces of thigh meat which was delicious dipped in the cheesy sauce.

After finishing the cheese and chicken, I was left with yummy crusty bread covered in yummy cheese.

There was plenty of melted cheese in the middle so I thought it was fun to make it flow out.


For those who want to try the inverted bottle drink and don't drink alcohol, this is the solution because they have a non alcoholic lemon strawberry and passionfruit soda.
It tasted damn good like a fruit punch.

What a great way of starting Chinese New Year by gathering with friends and family having delicious and photo worthy food.
The restaurant is spacious and I love the way the lights are aligned.

We started with the Social Prosperity Toss (“Lo Hei”) which is laid on a bright sheet of pink paper.
After mixing, it was ready to eat and I loved it because it was finely shredded vegetables.
Here were the other dishes that we had:
Stunning charcoal custard buns brushed with edible gold paint on top with a runny custard centre.
Soft and fluffy with the right level of sweetness.
It was my first time drinking this watershield soup with fish balls and I loved it because the watershield leaves look like pond leaves with a slimy viscous coating and the fish balls were like marshmallows and whipped egg white balls which break when you touch them.
The chicken and coconut in clay pot soup was also good because there was a strong chicken and coconut taste that was really sweet.
Next were the stunning  ‘cherry’ (foie gras) costed in red wine glaze.
The cherry goose liver was velvety and fragrant complimented by the mouth watering red wine gel coating.

We also had the hairy crab with Chinese wine.

The crab meat was infused with a fragrant sweet wine taste.

The dim sum platter gives you a good variety because it is boring when you have three or four of the same type.

In this steamer you get squid ink prawn dumpling, mini runny taro bun, lemon prawn dumpling, crab dumpling and a sweet red date pudding.

My favourites were the prawn and the mini taro bun.

The pork knuckles in sweet vinegar sauce must be ordered because they are so soft and gelatinous.

For veggies we had spicy cauliflowers which were jazzed up by the spices.

I didn't try the pigeons but they were apparently very good.

To finish, we had some great desserts, my favourite was the coconut sugar sago palm.
The sago balls were big with a good chew.

The duo panna cotta (pistachio & durian) were also good.
