American Diner

Decor was spot on looking like a real American diner.
Menu was spot on with grilled cheese, hot dogs etc.
BUT!!!!
The food was such a disappointment.
Grilled cheese, hmmmmm
It was just toast with cheese in the middle but at least the cheese wasn't fake.
The Minute beef steak sandwich was not edible because the steak was super tough and chewy. It seems like it had been in the freezer for decades with its moisture dehydrated and the onions were not caramelized enough.

Eggless omelette!

Previously came here when they newly opened so there were not many options!
Now there are so many choices that it is hard to decide.
One of the interesting dishes was the Sweet and sour konjac which I didn't order.

One of the must order dishes is the eggless omelette.
To be honest, I didn't realize it was eggless until I looked at the photo of menu, but it was good because it was just made of beancurd skin, beanshoots and mushrooms.

It tasted exactly like egg but slightly softer and runnier with a slight thick stickiness to it.
The only let down was that it was a bit too oily, also mentioned in another English review.
Next was the siumai which was soft because it had a lot of vegetables in it.

The Sichuan mouth watering mock chicken tasted better than I expected because it was crispy and the beany sauce was fragrant with a touch of Sichuan pepper but it was a bit too salty.
Then there was crispy red beancurd monkey mushrooms which tasted like fried red beancurd chicken wings which are my favourites, so I naturally liked it!!

Discovered this joint because I had to go to PolyU for something.
I was surprised at the prices for drinks because it was so cheap.
The earl grey tea only cost me $11, I thought I got a good deal but I found out it was cheaper at this other joint at PolyU for $9 (damn).
Still cheaper than Maccas.
Anyway, they use Twining teabags here and dilmahs at the other joint.
As for the taste, it was the usual Earl Grey tea taste.

I was in the area so ate here. Chose this place because they serve bagoes and on FB they had this alluring black sugar bread with buttercream.
0 讚好
Menu available in English
They claim their bagoes are soft with a chew and not dry.
Started with this black sugar bread with buttercream.
If you have been to Outback steakhouse, it tastes exactly like that but the cream is a bit different to English buttercream.
It just tasted like normal Chinese cream.
We also got bacon soup which was rich in flavour loaded with bacon and potatoes.
Next was the star of the show, the bagoes were soft and not as firm as the Western ones hence the locals will probably like it.
To me, the texture and taste was like stale Chinese mantau buns that have been microwaved fora bit too long.
We had the chicken and vegetarian.
The chicken was soft and moist white meat but the sauces were more for burgers, ie cheese sauce and tomato ketchup.
The vegetable faired better, it was sweetcorn, cucumber, lettuce and avocado, but the vegetables were a bit repetitive because it was the same as the side salad.
I was also expecting the avocado to be guacamole but anyway it tasted good but not as exciting as this other vegetarian bago I had elsewhere which had hummous and feta cheese.
We finished with the uji matcha chocolate cake and the chocolate orange.
Both had fillings in the middle which reminded me of the cupcakes at Circle Muffin in Sai kung.

A few years ago, there wasn't anything interesting on this stretch, it used to be a doctors clinic and some estate agent.
Now, there is a ramen joint which has replaced the short lived sugar cane juice shop from Central.

Anyway, the noodles come fast and people eat and leave as it is not exactly the place to stay for a long time.
On the menu, there are two noodles, the pork broth and the prawn miso.

If you order the sets, it comes with a side.
There was as side of crayfish and prawn roe salad which was quite salty, the dumplings fared better.
For the noodles, the pork bone broth was better because the soup was creamy.
The prawn miso was quite salty and tasted like wonton noodles because of the strong prawn flavour.
I didn't really need to add any condiments because it was flavourful already but tried the ramen pepper out of curiosity and it was really nice because it was peppery without being too spicy.

After seeing this delicious dish posted by PJ Moments I had to go and try it.

The dish I was after is available during lunch so went for lunch.
Dining at Muraski is spacious and has lots of tables with good privacy. There is also a private room that can host lots of people as well.
For the lunch set, you get salad, steamed egg, mains, rice, pickles and dessert.
Started with salad which was crisp and sweet with a mix of greens.

The steamed egg was tasty crammed with lots of seafood topped with pretty salmon roe.Personally I am not a fan of Japanese steamed egg but the one here was the best I have ever tried.
0 讚好
For the soup, it was red miso which is my favourite because it has a strong smell and miso taste.
Moving on to the Murasaki Chirashi, it looked just exactly like the photos, topped with uni, salmon roe, cucumber and egg.
The best thing is that it comes with a side of crispy sakura shrimps which have been roasted in the oven so it has a super crispy texture.
The rice gives you ricegasm without the crispy shrimps but when you add them, the flavour comes out even more and you can't stop eating it.
I wish there was more crispy shrimps!!
But anyway, the salmon roe, uni, crispy shrimps and cucumber just taste amazing together with the rice.
The lunch came with mango sorbet which was a sweet ending but we also had the highly recommended popping candy which was crazily delicious.I was literally expect popping candy but it was Mandarin, lychee and guava pearls with pear brandy jelly and peach crushed ice with rice soup poured on it.The pearls pop in your mouth with this heavenly liquid. The lychee and mandarin were my favourite and all the elements were not too sweet.

The staff here were really nice but unfortunately the food wasn't good.
Originally I picked the plain soba noodles but then I spotted the Green monday soymilk broth noodles so I changed to that.
The soymilk broth was so disgusting because they used sweet soy milk so the noodles and vegetables were all sweet.
I was pretty annoyed because I was very hungry that night,
The lotus roots lacked yuzu taste because it was supposed to be yuzu flavour according to the menu.
