Great veggie burger

The grilled cheese I had wasn't good but the veggie burger made up for it.
It reminded me of the burgers I had in London during the uni days because of the white mayonnaise.
The burger patty was yummy as it had blended broccoli and other veggies but the only thing that let it down was the crispy coating which was too hard, burnt and the oil wasn't that fresh.

This is my canteen for Indian food and it is conveniently right next to the MTR exit so I went on a rainy day.
As usual had saffron rice with the butter chicken.
The butter chicken is consistently good with a delicious sweet taste and brilliant with the saffron rice.
Also got the naan because their naans are damn good.
Finished with a mango lassi and lime soda.

I haven't had much luck with food trucks because you have to install the app to find out where, when and what.
Discovered this truck after the Taste of Hong Kong event so decided to get some chicken wings because everyone said it was good.
Also got the lemon drink which was freshly squeezed lemon and water, it was such a thirst quencher.
The chicken wings were separated into single bones which made it easy to eat and the coating was even and tasty.
Quite a good bargain because you get so many wings in the cup.

From the first time I tried it last year, I knew it was going to be a success from its loud and bold decor to its stylish artsy fartsy cake boxes.
Sadly, I have missed so many of their brilliant creations because the food scene in Hong Kong keeps you busy with so many new openings and trends.
Looking at their FB, they had some really good tarts that I missed and hopefully I won't miss it next time such as the CHERRY & TONKA TART, Cherry pandan, STRAWBERRY PISTACHIO TART and the Champagne and lychee.
On this visit, I managed to try peanuts banana, fresh lime and yuzu chocolate.
+++++++++
peanuts banana:
I don't normally pick banana but this was surprisingly good because it is not too sweet and lighter than it looks with a delicious banana taste.

+++++++++
yuzu chocolate:
The yuzu has a wonderful tart citrus flavour that balances the chocolate just like orange and there is a layer of yuzu liquid that will burst out when you take a bite.

+++++++++
fresh lime:
The fresh lime was dreamy especially the pieces of white chocolate and egg white on top.
+++++++++
Looking forward to more flavours on my next visit.

Spoilt for choices

Discovered this place because it was near the PMQ, up the steep road.
Aberdeen Street offered a good range of French and Mediterranean fare so I was spoilt for choices and it was hard to decide.
There were quiches, cheese platters, vegetarian, mussels, salads and pastas which were all proper French and Mediterranean style fit for expats.
I ended up choosing mainly French dishes.
Started with drinks where we had orange fizz and strawberry coco, both were a refreshing and healthy start.
For mains, had the rib eye which was meaty and juicy paired with decent mustards.
Also had the Beef bourguignon which was a hearty rich beef stew served with delicious mash.
There was a delicious savory aroma of onions, chunky beef and red wine.

Finished with apple crumble and the apple tart.
The apple tart was beautiful and served how it should be with thick cream.
Will be back soon for cheese and the Vegetarian dishes.

[Review 5852] A good discovery @ 維多利亞公園快餐亭 Fast Food Kiosk
17/03/2017
維多利亞公園快餐亭 Fast Food Kiosk
銅鑼灣興發街1號維多利亞公園中央草坪附近
Near the central lawn, Victoria park, 1 Hing Fat Street, Causeway Bay
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/a-good-discovery-e2748488
Thanks to the flower show diversion I had to take a different path from tin hau to cwb.
Discovered this joint thinking it was selling the usual boring Chinese snacks like fish balls and stuff but when I got closer it was Indonesian stuff with a good variety such as fried duck and they also had laksa and Buk kut teh.
They had tofu so I tried both the TAHU and TEMPE.
The tahu was nice and substantial and I liked the way it was fried because it didn't shrivel up and the tofu in the middle was still nice and white. The lady said it was made with turmeric but I could only vaguely taste it.
Anyway, the fried tofu tasted better than Chinese ones.
Next was the Tempeh, and ever since I tried it at Ayam Penyet Ria I have wanted to get it again but it is expensive, but here it only costs $4.
Tempeh is fermented and it has an interesting sour taste with whole soy beans which is why I like it.

[Review 5851] As you wish @ 豊勝手丼 Toyo Katte Don

I was in for a surprise because when I got there I discovered that they serve Katte Don.
Katte Don (“as you wish” rice bowl) is where you can choose the ingredients for you Don i.e. customized to your preference.
As well as Katte Don, they have other options.

Given, the choice, I was more than ecstatic to choose and the choices there were quite good because they even had mentaiko and crab paste as well as expected items such as uni, ebi, salmon, tuna and all that.
The minimum choice is three per don and it was clearly easy for me because mentaiko, salmon roe and crab paste were my favourites.
Everything was delicious and fresh that it does not need soy sauce and it was so good I asked for extra rice.
I wish there was more mentaiko because it wasn't too salty or spicy compared to other mentaiko I have tried.
As well as the Katte Don, we also tried the Roast eel. To be honest this is something I never order because it is always too sweet and laced with brittle bones.
When it arrived, I was impressed how big the eel was that it was too long for the bowl and overflowing on both sides.
You get two different eels, I liked the bigger one because it was meatier and there were no bones.
