French toast with runny centres
Although the French toasts appear to be a clone of chau kei in syp.
They have this interesting riceroll in soup which I didn't try.
There are two choices for toast: taro or custard.
The custard was actually quite good because it wasn't too sweet.
The prawn dumplings were disappointing because they were too soft and break when you pick them up. Luckily, they come in twos which is better than having four crappy ones.

[Review 6010] half localized @ 漢堡王 Burger King

After collecting my food and going to the dining area I wasn't impressed when I saw those Garden buns.
Paying for an expensive burger and getting local buns!!!!
Anyway, the fries were not good either, they were too burnt and crunchy but the salt made it taste slightly better.
The sugar sachets are also from Hong Kong!!!!!

I thought this place only served desserts but they have pastas and other options as well.
As I just had dinner, I ordered the melon for dessert.
It was interesting because I thought it was a souffle pancake in the middle so I was curious how it would support the icecream on top but when it arrived I discovered it was not a souffle pancake but a cakey type pancake.
The melon was strange, it was not ripe as the texture was very hard yet it was syrupy sweet.
The popcorn was a bit stale as the texture was soft and chewy.

This restaurant has been here for ages but I have never tried it until today because there are too many temptations in Central and Sheungwan.
Finally tried it on a sunday when lots of other places were closed.
Although it was pricey, the roast pork was amazing, you get to choose which cut to have and the menu clearly says that in English too.
The pork was soft and tender and the fat didn't annoy me with a great taste.
There have been lots of negative reviews so I was either lucky or it was sunday so the staff are not so pressured and more relaxed.

Kagoshima delights

While every restaurant claims they import their ingredients from somewhere, Gonpachi definitely does because I keep getting updates from this friend on FB posting pictures of her flying to places and trying out foods with her boss before they decide what to import.
Anyway, Gonpachi now has some new delights from Kagoshima.
I really liked the anno sweet potatoes which were crisp and sweet.
Also had the Kagoshima Kuroshi Beef, Kagoshima Kurobuta Pork, Satsuma Chicken, pike conger, horse mackerel.
The horse mackerel was had a nice salty smokey flavour to it.

she didn't even ask which one i wanted and keyed in the bigger size.

the panini was ok but flat as a pancake.
it was too salty and crispy

[Review 6005] Tsuta from Japan @ 蔦 Tsuta

Shop 2, G/F, V Point, 18 Tang Lung Street, Causeway Bay
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/tsuta-from-japan-e2800370
Tsuta from Tokyo was awarded one Michelin star in 2015, since then it has opened two branches in Singapore and now Hong Kong.
I decided to go and check it out.
The menu is simple, they serve two soup bases: shio (salt) and shoyu (soy) where you can choose how many slices of roast pork etc.
According to the media, the soup base contains chicken, seafood and herbs to get that rich broth.
I tried the shio and shoyu ramen and the shoyu is light with a fragrant truffle taste.
The shio is interesting because it has a miso taste and there are hints of mint because of the fresh mint leaves in the broth.
Shoyu ramen:
Also had the Ro su meshi which is roast pork slices.
Each slice was tender and soft complimented well by their secret sauce.
Both are recommendable but if you don't like mint, request for it without or order the Shoyu.
