Soupreme lunch

There are lots of options for soups in Sheungwan like Souper Authentic 球哥燉湯,  靚湯王 at Dor dor eatery (with rude service) and Souprb which is new.
What makes Soupreme special is that they are recommended by Michelin and their noodles are fantastic with lots of options for vegetarians.
The only thing I dislike is the menu because it is difficult to comprehend.
The lunch sets are filling and tasty, especially the ox tail which is soft and comes off the bone easily.
I also chose the red rice as a healthy and satisfying option.

Souper duper soups at Souprb

There are lots of options for Chinese soups in Sheungwan like Soupreme 湯品小棧, Souper Authentic 球哥燉湯
and 靚湯王 at Dor dor eatery (with rude service) but NONE for Western soups unless you go all the way to TALLORE in Wanchai.
Finally Souprb has popped up serving soups with 5 choices which they change every week.
The soup choices were impressive because there were 4/5 that I wanted to try: pumpkin, beetroot, Mexican chicken, portobello and chestnut, Prawn and crab gumbo (premium choice +$10)

As a soup fan, I got the tasting set which comes with two soups while my friend got the Stew set which comes with rice and a curry.
They also had toasties which I really really wanted to eat as well.

We both added $30 for the made to order freshly pressed juices which were refreshing but a bit too sweet.

+++++++++
Tasting set:
Prawn and crab gumbo soup + Mexican chicken

+++++++++
Stew set:
curry, rice and chestnut and portobello mushroom soup

+++++++++
The curry was Japanese curry served with Japanese rice.

As for the soups, the chestnut portobello mushroom was really good, it was thick and blended with so much mushroom and chestnuts in it.
The gumbo was a little disappointing because the cajun and spiciness was not strong enough and there were bits of shell in the soup.
The Mexican chicken tasted like Chinese style borscht soup with chicken added to it.
Will definitely be back for the toasties but the tasting set was not very filling, but then I probably have a big appetite.

[Review 6061] Popular pick at the food Terminal @ 包·點

This is one of the popular shops at the Food Terminal, primarily because they sell dimsums and HongKongers have to eat dimsums.
I went for the rice with dried fishes and prawns.
It was good as expected because I have tried making this simple dish before, you just get some dried fishes and steam it with a little bit of oil, drizzle it with some soy sauce and chili with rice and it is delicious.
The dried fishes are not too salty but unfortunately there was some grit in it or I would have given it a SMILE!

Went with a friend to the food Terminal at Kai Ching Village for food.
I was pretty satisfied but my friend fell for dessert so she got the sesame paste soup which reminds me of a bowl of black ink for Chinese brush writing.
It wasn't very thick, the consistency is just like Chinese black ink.
As for the taste, it wasn't too sweet with a strong ground black sesame taste.
Not my cup of tea!

[Review 6059] Kaiping cuisine @ 食好啲

In London, there are Boxparks, where a bunch of shipping containers are made into shops and eateries.
Recently Kai Yip Estate market had a makeover where it was given an Industrial theme with a shipping container outlook so I decided to check it out.
As well as checking it out, I was clearly there for food.
There were various stalls from dimsum, fried stuff, noodles etc but 食好啲 clearly was unique because they had these strange looking ricerolls, silver pin noodles which were filled and these items on the menu which I have not seen anywhere else.
It turns out to be Kaiping cuisine after asking the guy there.
I ordered the rolls and a rice, it was difficult deciding between the salted fish rice or dried dace fish but he recommended the salted fish because they salt and sun dry it themselves.
On the counter, there some mouth watering condiments like red and green chili sauce made by them as well.
The rolls were slightly sweet with a strong soybean taste filled with bits of minced meat in the middle but not too much and the chili sauce complimented it nicely.
The not so photogenic salted fish and pork belly rice was amazing because the salted dried fish texture was like fresh fish but slightly firmer like bacalhau, and there were no bones.
It was steamed with pork belly and ginger which releases some oils and goes perfectly with the rice.

Taiwanese fare in Central

When this restaurant opened a few years ago everyone was raving about it.
Finally tried it and the dishes were up to my expectations.
I chose the Central branch because quality is often better and it has more positive reviews than the branch in Tai Koo.
Started with the noodles in sesame soup with chicken.
The sesame flavour was strong and not sickly.
I liked the fried oysters because most Taiwanese joints serve greasy oyster pancakes so the individual fried oysters were much nicer complimented by the chili sauce but unfortunately they were a bit too salty.
The tea was good with a huge block of herbal jelly but it tasted like HK style milk tea.
Finished with the soup which was light and clear.
My friend had the minced meat with gravy which she said was too sweet.

Discovered this joint in MK because I saw people walking around with these sticks filled with cream.I decided to try one because they were only $20 each, freshly baked and freshly filled with filling when you order.
It was light , crisp and airy filled with cool sweet creamy custard.
On the surface, there were crispy nuts that gave it a great flavour.
