Recently tried the Fashion Matcha afternoon tea at COCO to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the MIRA DINING GROUP.
I admit that I haven't dined at MIRA DINING outlets for a while and I have missed so much, they have come up with some really mouth watering and unique items such the chocolate durian tart, pandan waffles and even chocolate mustard for their meat pairings.
Guests are greeted with a green tea ceremony to start with.

The Matcha afternoon tea managed to impress me even though I am not mad about Matcha.
It was the Matcha that I liked because it wasn't grassy.

Presented with this stylish tea set, I always start with the savouries, moving onto the scones and then the sweets.
The savouries and sweets were equally as good which was good.
Starting with the savouries there was: roasted capsicum cupcake with goat cheese topping, matcha cream cheese with spicy cajun shrimp toast, baccola (salty cod) rilettes with sesame, matcha soba noodle salad with sesame.
The savouries were all fantastic but the roasted capsicum cupcake with goat cheese topping was the most memorable because the savoury cupcake was really tasty and the velvety cheese topping was divine.
Moving on to the Korean Matcha Cranberry Scone with homemade Orange Jam flavoured with Japanese Sudachi Lime, it was heavily dusted with Matcha powder that you can see my finger imprint after picking it up!!
The pairing of refreshing orange jam was a match made in heaven because there was a lot of solid orange pieces in the jam and it wasn't bitter complemented with fluffy whipped cream.
The Trendy Sweets comprised of: Taiwanese Matcha Elixir on Lamington & Yuzu, “Metallic Moonlight” Kyoto Uji Matcha infused in Vietnamese 40% White Chocolate Tart, Golden Wire Korean Matcha Latte Pudding by Executive Pastry Chef Jean-Marc Gaucher.
Finished with the Fashion passion drink which was a concoction of passionfruit and green tea.
It had a great refreshing fizz with notes of passionfruit, but most importantly it was not too sweet.

Canton pot offers comfortable and quality hotpots so I returned again.
Not many people have discovered this place so it is nice and quiet.
There is a good variety of hotpot broths ranging from:
Truffle and matsuke:

Sichuan broth:
The best broths were the mushroom and beef short rib because they are light.
I found the Sichuan pot was too spicy even though I usually go for spicy foods.
Meats are a must so we had quite a few which were finished fast as they were that good.
Personally I liked the lamb because it was soft and tender.
The dumplings were delicious especially the tofu bags filled with mushrooms and the springy dumplings.
Finished with this icecream ball which was coated in chocolate and set alight in rum.
The burnt chocolate had this really nice rum flavour infused in it.

My friend wanted some tortoise jelly so took her here.
It is a small joint.
Anyway, discovered they had two types of tortoise jelly but my friend wanted the vacuum sealed tubs because it was more hygienic.
I tried some and it tastes slightly different to the ones in the ceramic pots because it is not as bitter and there is a strange taste to it.
It is slightly sweet so I don't think syrup is needed.

I always come here for my dandan noodle fix because the noodles are just right and not too soft with a strong peanut taste in the broth.
The jellyfish here is healthy as it is paired with Chinese radish and it is not oily.Also had the Wuxi ribs which had a punchy sweet and sour taste.
The dumplings are good because I love the way the broth is crystal clear and oil-less that I end up drinking it.
Had two different ones, a vegetable one and a pork one.
The vegetable one was really tasty because the vegetable one is made with the filling that you find in the steamed Shanghai veg bun.
While the pork one had a nice crunch from the siutongchoi vegetable.
Finished with the prune drink, a classic Shanghainese drink which has a smoky taste.

The dimsum here is quite traditional in that it contains lots of pork lard and pork fat.
Therefore you have to select carefully if you don't eat that.
As usual I had the prawn dumplings which were flawless and the dumpling skin was taut.
The texture was springy with meaty prawns inside.
The abalone noodles were on promotion so I ordered them, however the staff were not clear as to which noodles were served because they seemed to say it was the thick ones and it turned out to be the wonton noodles.
It was difficult to communicate because it was soooooo noisy.
The noodles were quite nice because the gravy made it delicious but there was not enough gravy for all the noodles.
The rest of the dimsums fared average but the layered custard sponge was really tasty but when you discovered pieces of pork fat, you either love or hate it.
