Decided to visit the golden egg over Easter so went here for lunch before taking a stroll on the promenade. We didn't order much otherwise it would defeat the purpose of the healthy stroll afterwards.
The menu was quite confusing because for the dimsum, it doesn't have the price as the prices were on a separate sheet!
Tea is $12 and not $15 because the Eng and Chi version are inconsistent.
Anyway for food, we shared the fried noodles with bittermelon and angus beef, beancurd with black truffle and the layered custard sponge.
The fried noodles were quite good but the bittermelon was a bit under cooked for my liking.

The steamed beancurd was a bit tasteless as it was just steamed beancurd topped with black truffle paste.
Perhaps oyster/abalone sauce might have been better than plonking truffle on top.
The layered custard sponge was really good, it was light and fluffy with even layers of custard which was not too sweet.

When the East truly meets the West

Although the Kowloon side is not geographically the East side of Hong Kong and the HK side is not the West side of HK but for food is it quite different. On the Kowloon side, you get more Chinese restaurants and their palates are slightly different but the food scene is revolving again.
Due to high rents and stuff, we are seeing more Western restaurants popping up in Kwuntong, Kowloon Bay, Laichikok etc to cater for expat companies migrating from the HK side because of the rents.
Anyway, TST is almost the central point where people on both sides can meet up and the new menu at O delice is just the thing to break the ice.

I found my comfort food on the menu because how can they not serve their signature galettes!
I had the spinach and salmon which just brought me back to Wanchai!!
It was loaded with spinach and salmon and I loved the baby gem lettuce salad.

Next was my favourite moule frites which are freshly flown from France.
They were flavourful and springy.
The best thing is that they serve it with aioli mayonnaise, but I asked for plain mayonnaise which is even better!!

New on the menu was the French toast which I thought was funny but this is a real deal from a French place of course and not those lame Cantonese style French toasts suffocating in syrup and melting butter/margerine!
The French one, pain perdu is much lighter and comforting, one that I could eat again and again!!

Finished off with the strawberry basil tea which was flawless and hand shaken by my favourite guy at odelice!!!
He concocted it in a way, you could taste fresh strawberries and it was perfectly balanced that it didn't taste syrupy.

Previously tried Kakigori in Central which costed a bomb but it was good.
Here you can get the basic one for $38 which comes with red beans etc.
The taste was slightly different because shaved ice tasted milky as they mixed it with milk and they said the water they used was from Japan.
The shaved ice was sweet without adding the brown sugar syrup so I didn't really need to use it.
Finished with a hot Japanese tea which was comforting.

The East Ocean Gourmet group is famous for their big peachy longevity buns stuffed with big Vietnamese egg yolks oozing with golden oil. They recently gave out 888 of these longevity buns at TsingYi to spread their love.

I was also in the area attending someone's birthday which of course had these gourmet longevity buns!!

It started off with the crispy suckling pig which was tender and tasty.

Next were the squid slices, springy prawns and sugar snap peas which were glistening and appetizing.

The vegetables were in this delicious light gravy that was not too salty and heavy with the courses to come.
 0 讚好

Next were the huge bouncy minced crab claw, usually served during banquets.
 0 讚好

The soup was one of my favourites that night loaded with my favourite bamboo piths, again it was light and satisfying.

The fish is always my favourite and it was steamed just right and the fish was flakey.
 0 讚好

After eating quite a bit of the fish, I was a bit full for the mushrooms, so I decided to leave some room for the chicken and noodles.

As always I pick the white meat and it was still tender and moist so it was done nicely.

Finished the last course with efu noodles laced in shrimp roe which gave it such a briny flavour.

Now to the moment of excitement because everyone was looking forward to the buns!
The bun was soft and fluffy with this huge yolk oozing with golden oil, it was so nice that I finished someone elses bun too.

There was also the dessert soup which I gave to the person sitting next to me because she gave me her bun!

A small joint but the staff there are really friendly with passion.
When you arrive, you get served a little sample of their soup which you can immediately tell are MSG Free.
The menu offers dumplings, Rice/Noodles with Chicken/Shredded Chicken.

Ordered the Scallion chicken rice with the lemon barley drink and the shredded spicy chicken with spinach noodles.
The Scallion silky was soft and silky but a bit too bony and for my liking and the lemon barley drink was the best that I have had because it was just the right level of sweetness.

[Shredded chicken with Spinach noodles]

After taking a sip of the noodle broth, I was quite stunned to discover that it was msg free and it was fresh broth and not powdered soup mix.

The [Tradition Chinese Daily soup] was thick and concentrated like it had been boiled twice.

The [Daily soup] didn't disappoint because there was a rich coconut taste and again MSG free.

Also tried the dumplings which are their signature items.
There are six different dumplings, there are two that I would recommend especially the Cordeceps flower and the Tomato.

Stumbled on this bakery when I was in TST.
It is interesting because they also sold a lot of Korean products which makes sense because they are close to so many Korean Restaurants.
In terms of bakery, the donut looked yummy so got the donut and the baguette because these two are my favourites.
The donut was soft and sweet but it seemed like those donuts that are defrosted to serve.
The baguette was hard and chewy while the croissant had a fragrant buttery taste as it was just baked.

Shanghai dishes with a twist of Sichuan

I love Shanghai dishes as well as Sichuan dishes.
Never would I have thought New Shanghai would be serving some Sichuan dishes but until the end of April.
 0 讚好

While I was waiting for others to arrive, started with the barley water which was warm and soothing.
The syrup is served on the side.
 0 讚好

For appetizers, had the chicken marinated with spicy sauce and peanut, Jelly Fish with Spring onion oil, Deep fried eel.
Smoked egg with black truffle sauce.
The deep fried eel was crispy and sweet so I loved it and the Jelly fish was hard and crisp like cartilage in fragrant spring onion oil.

Shanghai meatballs can be served in gravy or soup.
Tried the [Doubled boiled meat ball] which was served in soup.
It was surprising how good it was because it tastes much lighter than gravy and the meat seems leaner..

Next was the [Honey ham] served with steamed bun.
The ham was in this appetizing sweet clear gravy which had lots of osmanthus flowers.

Putting the ham and crispy beancurd in the bun made it a wonderful little sandwich with a crunch.

Now to the new Sichuan stars, the Poached mandarin fish with preserved vegetables which is available until the end of April.
It was the best fish in preserved vegetable I have had so far because I could drink the soup which was full of flavour and the mandarin fish was silky.

Also had the fried crab with assorted peppercorns and chili where you could taste those aromatic Sichuan peppercorns.

Next was the Stir fried kale for a balanced dinner with veggies.

The Steamed pork dumplings and Homemade noodles with minced pork and spicy peanut sauce was the last course before dessert which was really satisfying.

For dessert, it was Steamed yellow bean cakes stuffed with red bean paste and double boiled milk.
I was quite full but the double boiled milk was creamy and nourishing.

Although, the poached fish is available until April, I secretly hope that it will be there permanently.
