The cat is gone
2018-05-14 138 瀏覽
This is the third time PostCollection HK has moved.I haven't been to the first location, but the one in Wanchai was quite memorable and there was a cat there.
At this new location, it is very spacious and great for people who want to sit and talk for a bit because it is actually an area comverted from those tiny shops in a dead mall that people rarely go to.
You can tell that no one goes there by the reaction of the shop assistants when you walk past their shops, they are so keen to get you over and look at their stuff.
Anyway, the cat is gone and the food is different.
They had pancakes on display which they don't know when they will be launched.
I had the bun with cheese and ham, although on the menu it seems to be a panini and in Chinese a scone.

Evidently processed cheese and not cheddar.
The yoghurt was quite nice with lots of cereal and raisins while the salad was really good because of the dressing.
For desserts, had the pound cake which was rather dry.

The tofu cheesecake was a bit too sweet and creamy for my liking.

Again, this was one of GMs series, the JUST TIKKA.
Unfortunately, the water had been dehydrated so when you microwave it, the results are like that.
There were huge chunks of chicken which were slightly tough, the tikka sauce tasted ok but the chicken tasted a bit off.

A trip for the famous toast

I have always wanted to try this place for the famous toast but KT is such a crappy area. There are so many people at any damn time of the day and week.
Walking there from the MTR exit is a battle with people and carts on a narrow road with cars and trucks skimming by at close distance.
This is shop is easily missed because there isn't a name or anything displayed and it is really old and shabby.
Inside, it is cramped and noisy but Thankfully the staff were patient and nice as the menu is a bit complicated.
Fortunately, I knew exactly what I wanted so ordered the toast and the pan fried vermicelli.
Also had the lemon with orange juice which is just lemon slices with FANTA and not OJ.
The toast was as good as expected but too salty.

If you look closely, it is actually three slices of toast, the one on the outer side is actually a thin slice of crisp toast with butter in between.
It makes you wonder how an earth they could slice the bread that thin and then toasting it, placing it on top without breaking.
The other dish was also good, there was lots of beef tendon in that bowl which was soft and tasty with a hint of Sichuan spices that went well with the crispy egg coated vermicelli, again it was super salty.
The beef tasted like it had been marinated for years to be that flavourful yet you could still taste it was fresh.
Overall the food was ok but I am not sure if it was overly salty on my visit or it is consistently salty everyday.

I am so glad there is a third branch of Potato Corner.
Unfortunately, the chicken wasn't launched when I went so I didn't get to try them.
It was difficult ordering because the music was loud and the menu screen kept changing to something else.
Anyway, I had the potato smileys which I think taste better than fries as there is more potato in proportion to the flavouring.
The cheesey flavour is really good but the sour cream was too sweet.
Your fingers will bebright orange when you finish so imagine the colour of your intestines!!

[Review 6548] Memorable ramen at [Shiawase] @ 幸拉麵 Shiawase Ramen

I am quite particular about my ramen because I prefer the thin white noodles, then if the broth is good then perfect.
If the pork is good as well then it is a mega bonus.
My definition of good pork is being fresh, lean, soft and not smelly!
At Shiawase, they have three different broths: tonkatsu, garlic and spicy tomato.
All three were good in different ways but the pork was the star of everything which makes a change.
The reason I loved it was because it was fresh, soft and tasty.
They were thinly sliced just like the meat we had for roast dinners at school so I was really happy to taste something similar!!
Since all three broths are different, the tonkotsu is one that you can have anytime as the broth is strong but not overly salty or oily.
The black garlic is more flavourful and complicated as you can taste the garlic prominently as well as the pork broth.
Personally, my favourite was the spicy tonkotsu tomato ramen which works for me on a cooler day because it is spicy.
The flavours in this bowl are even more complex as there are lots of tomatoes in the broth which have been boiled for a few hours and all the tomatoes are have been peeled.
The noodles are topped with minced pork which is spicy mixed with herbs, again the pork was fresh hence it was delicious.
The meat sauce tasted a bit like Arrabiata so when you add some cheese powder which can be found on the table, the two go quite well together.
As well as the minced pork, there are also two slices of delicious pork as well.
I definitely like this new joint hidden behind the AIA Tower however the lighting can be a bit brighter, other than that I friggin love their PORK!!!

Since the closure of SUBWAY, it has been hard getting baguettes and sarnies.
Crunch N Munch Bakery has been here since last year so I guess their bakery should be good otherwise they wouldn't be here for that long staying that low profile.
Finally gave them a try.
They have seven different bagels to choose from and then you can choose any fillings from the list.
Wanted the mushroom tofu stirfry but it was sold out.
I chose Cheddar Cheese and another filling.
They were really generous with the fillings but I regretted choosing the cheddar because it was evidently processed cheese slices.
Anyway, I will be back because the bagels with fillings are affordable and they taste great.
Hoping to see other fillings like feta cheese and hummus on the list.

In love with Malaysian Mimi noodles

There is an abundance of Singaporean food in HK but not many options for Malaysian food.
Discovered this place as I was in Shatin.
What led me here was the escalator that is a travelator to begin with before it ascends into an escalator.
As I was curious, I took them and it led me right into Mimila as it is the first shop that greets you when you get off the escalator.
I loved the baby blue theme and bar by the kitchen.
Mimila is a Modern Malay noodle joint according to the menu and the desserts were captivating.
Before indulging on the desserts, I had to get a noodle which is the star of Mimila.
There are two types, soup or tossed noodles.
For May, they are doing Laksa Chicken Rice which looked tempting on the menu as the rice and laksa are separated so the rice doesn't get soggy.
I had the tossed noodles with prawn roe dry mimi noodles.
As well as prawn you can choose Spanish white pork slices or White Pepper Ribs for a more Malaysian twist to it,
I was really pleased because I love thin noodles and they serve prawn roe noodles which give it an even more prawny taste.
I forgot to take a picture of the hot soy sauce but a few drops to the noodles made them wonderful as the chili in it gave the noodles a lovely spicy flare.
For drinks, I had the Barley Lemon water which was comforting and not too sweet.
Now to the desserts which were equally as good as the noodles.
I absolutely love fragrant pandan chiffon cakes and here they serve it with whipped cream and desiccated coconut which makes it taste even fantastic.
The durian Swiss roll was sold out so had the durian cheesecake which was also good.
Definitely coming back again for the other noodles.
