I love Creole and Louisana cuisine but most of the restaurants that serve it have closed such as Blue Smoke, Restoration etc.
When I heard of Mr. Crab by The Captain's House, I had to give it the benefit of the doubt being in Wanchai and the fact that it has been here for quite a while so the food should be good.
They also have another branch at TST called The Captain's House which was not so impressive but Mr.Crab impressed me on this visit!!
When you arrive, you are greeted by tanks of lobsters and a seafood bar.
Started with the popcorn cauliflower which had a nice crunch with lots of spices.
The seafood gumbo was comforting as it tasted quite close to the one I had ages ago packed with okra etc.
The Seafood bag was ok but it was a bit too spicy so next time I will probably choose the lemon and dill cream.
I loved the Dirty fried rice which has chicken liver and sausage bits.
Finished with smores and crackers.
The marshmallow was super gooey and fun to eat.

Stopped by for some drinks and discovered that they served soup as well so I got the Spinach Miso Soup.
The soup was really good and had a strong miso flavour with a salty punch.
At the bottom, it was packed with lots of spinach.

Being in Central, it was really good that they had Filipino staff to man the counter because they speak better English than HKers which is really crucial.

They were really good at explaining the different dishes and very friendly.

Being raised in UK. my first Chinese food memories were in China Town and Food from Chinese Takeways so it was a great experience at East Ocean Restaurant as they are now serving some dishes from the past.
There were a few that I have heard of such as Golden Money Chicken and the Pomelo Grapefruit skin which became reality on this visit.

The Golden Money Chicken does not contain any chicken at all but it is called that because it has chicken liver, a la layer of fat and roast meat.

The pomelo skin was mushy with a little bitterness.

My favourite was the white spring rolls stuffed with minced prawn.

For healthy options, the vegetable dish was my pick with lots of crunchy lily bulbs and lotus roots.

For dimsum, I liked the fried prawn dumplings which were succulent and springy.

My first visit to Cha Long was in Central and it was disappointing because the oolong tea was tasteless.

On this visit, I tried the Grapefruit tea which was Jasmine based and it was much better, you could taste both the grapefruit and Jasmine.

I drank it slowly and the drink did not go bitter even with the grapefruit slices in the cup.

Although I liked what I drank, I regretted not trying the lychee Jasmine which is exclusive to this branch.
Will come back again to try the puddings and tea rolls.

Discovered this eatery after dining nearby.
There are so many new places to try so stopped by because of this picture of a bowl covered entirely by SPRING ONIONS!!
They serve other donburis as well and this cute BBQ Wagyu Beef Set for One which is only available in the evenings.

I love seafood so 5 and 8 were my picks on the Dinner Menu.

It was just overwhelming seeing all that finely chopped spring onions where you couldn't see the rice at all with an onsen egg in the middle.
Every mouthful was wonderful with lots of spring onions which goes well with the Saba and rice while the onsen egg binds it together adding a lovely silky texture to everything.
The Saba that I got was a little dark compared to the other ones I've seen on social media but it tasted ok.

The tempura was fried just right and the coating was crisp complimented by the mild curry sauce and cheese.
I am tempted to try this again because they also have tomato sauce which should go well with the cheese and prawns.

For the red meats, my friends had 2 and 16.

This Beef set for one was so cute with this mini grill!
The grill has to be greased (buttered) first and then when the butter sizzles, the beef cubes can be placed on the grill.
When it is ready, just a touch of salt tastes great as it is juicy and flavourful!

[Yakiniku Pork Rice Bowl with TRIPLE CHEESE]

As well as tasty pork, there was evilicious gooey cheese which makes the rice so yummy!
They use the American squeezy cheese type sauce so it isn't the Mozzarella or cheddar type hence don't expect it to be cheesy in that sense but more of a thick gooey sauce.


Directions here are not that clear but there is a footbridge next to the optical shop that leads here followed by some escalators.

I've been here three times now and it seems that I should stay clear of the cakes and carefully choose what to eat.
The grilled cheese toast and fish finger bap were brilliant while some of the cakes were too sweet.

On this visit, I had the fish fingers bap which was damn good.

It was, a proper dusted soft bap filled with crisp fish fingers and real Mayonnaise.

For drinks, had the avocado smoothie which was not too sweet and it was good that they used ripe avocados because you can really taste the difference.

In Hong Kong, KFC has a totally different recipe for the chicken coating so I rarely get KFC unless the flavour is interesting.
The Fried [Hainan Style chicken] meal comes with waffle fries and not chips as served in UK which is another thing I don't like.

Anyway, the new Fried [Hainan Style chicken] captivated me because I love Scallion Oil.

The set comes with rice and a drink and you can also order two extra Hainan Style chicken wings.
Unfortunately, they gave me the wrong ones because they were spicy and tasted totally different from the star of the show.

As I said, the chicken wings were just spicy.
The star of the show was really tasty and you could taste spring onions in the coating.
The sauce that comes with this is chili and lime which really matches the chicken and gives a slight Thai kick to it.


It was good that it came with rice because I am not fond of Waffle fries.


 Overall, the Fried [Hainan Style chicken] was impressive but not impressive because the chicken wings given were the wrong ones.
