Baked Potatoes in MongKok

I passed this joint ages ago and wanted to try it because they have so many choices for baked potatoes.
It was really difficult finding this place when you deliberately look for it and the numbering of the street is weird.
There were some really good choices like cheese, mushroom and spinach, chili bolognese and egg mayo.
I wasn't sure if they use real cheese or real mayo so had the sour cream baked potato.
The chili bolognese looked hopefully like chili con carne with the red beans in the picture.
The baked potato came and it looked like the real deal.
The sour cream was more than generous.
The potato was a bit hard though and not fluffy enough and the potato skin was not crispy.
As for the taste, it was ok but it tasted like the potato had been cooked for days because of the colour and texture while the sour cream tasted like greek yoghurt.

[Review 6713] Cold Brew Teas @ 泰昌餅家 Tai Cheong Bakery

Tai Cheong Bakery is OLD SCHOOL and BORING.Although they do occasionally have some fun stuff like giant egg tarts which are actually cheese cakes.
Tourists flock there for Egg Tarts on Lynhurst Terrace.
I really do not understand why the HK style flakey pastry egg tarts in Hong Kong are so floppy that it guarantees it collapsing in your hand and falling to the floor! Hooray!!
Anyway, walked past and discovered they had cold brew teas so got the peach oolong as the Jasmine was sold out.
It was actually quite nice and not sweetened with a lovely oolong aroma and a hint of peach.

I was in the area again so was looking around to see if any new joints have opened.
Went here because it was new.
They had cookies, desserts, waffles with softserve but I went for the noodles as I prefer savoury stuff.
I wasn't sure what to expect as I ordered the $28 abalone noodles.
When it came, it looked so cute because of the four little abalones.
To be honest, I prefer small abalones as they are not so chewy and easier to eat.
Unfortunately the noodles were too salty and spicy which overpowered the abalone.
I think the noodles would taste good if it was just mixed in that gravy which the abalones were in.

This place specializes in coffee but strangely their house water appears to be more popular.
As well as drinks, had the croque monsieur which was disappointing as they didn't use proper cheese and decent ham.
The toast (sour dough) was too crunchy and hard.
I would have preferred it if they used a different bread.

Stumbled upon this friendly joint because of the lovely menu booklet outside.
I really appreciate the effort they put in to compile this cute A5 sized booklet with all the dishes in English and Chinese.
Inside, you will see lots of pictures of the food.
Some of the dishes were creative like the caramel tomatoes and the wontons baked with KRAFT cheese.
The best thing is that they specify which cheese is used so I am tempted to try it next time.
Anyway, I had the noodles tossed with chicken feet in soy sauce.
It was tossed in chicken oil which is more fragrant than pork lard and the chicken feet were tasty.
The only struggle was the chopsticks so it took me a while to eat it.

I always go to Ladies Market to look at the touristy stuff.
As well as shopping, there are so many nice eateries hidden behind the stalls.
Stopped by this one as it was clean with English menus, but you still have to rinse the bowls.
Food was quite good with a nice variety like hargaus, steamed rice, ricerolls etc.
My favourite was the congee which was packed with lots of ingredients,
The steamed rice was quite a big portion hence great for sharing.
The riceroll skin was very springy so it didn't break.
The soup dumplings was loaded with lots of mushrooms and celery so it was very flavourful.
I don't know why but I ordered the tripe but it had a lovely ginger aroma.
If only it was softer because it was too elastic.
I was pretty stuffed but we also had the chicken feet and beef dumplings.

I am so glad that the people in the area don't appreciate this joint as HKers just don't eat bread or sandwiches hence it was empty.
Funnily enough, they have the lobster toast priced at $1xx, although it is a good option, I would rather get it from Lobster Central as it is not cool having it in TKO.

It was hard choosing a toast but in the end I had the cuttlefish toast (strangely called a PIE when it is evidently a Pattie).

The sauces put me off almost every option because it was thousand island sauce so I really regretted not ordering it without as I just don't like it because it is sweet.

I just don't appreciate Japanese sauces like sesame, Teriyaki etc but then they are probably hongkonized  and taste far better in Japan.

It was nicely wrapped and sliced.

I am glad I chose the cuttlefish but the sauce kind of ruined it which I expected so next time I will remember to order it without.

I wish they had ketchup or kewpie mayonnaise to replace that annoying Thousand island sauce.
