Hong Kongers love hotpots but it can be quite unhealthy because all the fats and oils are dispersed in the hotpot when the meats are being cooked and then soaked up by vegetables and tofu which are then eaten.
Yeungsumdin is slightly healthier in the sense that the broth has lots of Chinese medicine.
But anyway, hotpots can be healthy depending on what items you pick.
I mainly had vegetables as I was there to drink the broth more than hotpot!!
The only thing that wasn't healthy was the fried luncheon meat.
The beancurd sheets were the best, they were soft and silky while the mountain yam had a nice crunch.
I chose the silky chicken broth with dong gwai and there is half a chicken in the broth that you can eat.
The broth gets stronger when the flavours of the Chinese herbs come out so it is better to drink the broth later and I did not refill any broth as I didn't want it diluted.
For carbs, I had the mountain yam noodles.
The ducks blood was nice and spicy!!
I wish they had rice but anyway will come back again for a different broth and see if they have it.

In every Asian cuisine there will be some form of noodles with beef.
Taiwan has the famous Taiwanese beef noodles, then you have Vietnamese pho, Thai boat noodles with beef, Guizhou beef noodles and so on.
Well Hong Kong has beef brisket noodles!!!!

This restaurant specializes in beef brisket noodles but the name strangely does not reflect that.
After having Chua Lam's pho, I suddenly had a craving for beef noodles so went here as I was in SSP.
I know it is totally different but I just wanted some flat rice noodles with beef.
Strangely, the broth was bland as I am used to being shocked by over salty stuff on the dark side of Kowloon but it wasn't which makes it really healthy for the elderly.
They have a homemade XO sauce which is really good and compliments the noodles well.
Also tried the beef brisket curry with efu noodles.
The curry was super hot so be warned.
Overall a nice joint in SSP as the staff were polite but the joint can get a bit noisy as HKers are loud!

Didn't know this place existed as I refuse to cross roads with traffics lights.
Anyway, couldn't avoid it when my friend took me here.
There wasn't much food left as it was late in the afternoon.
I wanted the eclair but it looked like it had been there for ages.
In the end I settled for the pies which seem to be supplied by TaiTaiPiePies which are guaranteed to be good.
If I saw the teas at the counter, I would have ordered it because they use some good brands but I had the cucumber apple juice instead.
The juice didn't have much apple in it which was good because I prefer the taste of cucumber.

The beef and cheese pie was good as expected.
It was minced beef with real gooey cheese in the middle.
If only if the top of the pie didn't look like it had been stabbed many times then it would have been perfect.
I suspect the top of the pie collapsed as stuff was put on top of it or it was simply just too dry.

Discovered this joint as there were so many celebs at the opening including Brian Burrell.

The joint is really girly and chic with butterflies and flowers everywhere.
I was there just for the Hainan chicken which did not disappoint.

When I ordered, I forgot to request for white meat but luckily I was given it so I was really happy.
White meat is is the best part of chicken in Hong Kong if it is done right because it is so silky and soft whereas if I am in UK, I will get the thigh meat.
Anyway, the white meat here is so damn good because it is just pure meat and skin, no veins or any pink bits and of course the texture was really soft and silky.
From the picture, you can see that the chicken is glistening and moist.
Bad chicken meat is dull and dry.
The chicken tasted good without any sauce which means the  chicken is fresh.
You get to choose 2 out of 3 sauces for the chicken so you are spoilt for choices.
I chose the Thai sauce and the spicy miso sauce.
Personally I liked the spicy miso sauce as it was appetizing with a fiery kick to it.

To finish, there was a cube of coconut pudding which is quite sweet.

For drinks, there are three colourful bottles to choose from: Blue Pea Stevia, Roselle and Longan!!



Will definitely be back when I can't think of what to eat in Sheung Wan!!

I am currently trying the restaurants on Li Yuen East Street and Deli Blossom has the prettiest decor amongst them all with a rosy floral shop front made of artificial flowers.
Unfortunately, I had already had food, so I tried their teas.
Got the oolong and jasmine.
Compared to other ready to go teas, the bottle is shorter but wider in diameter.
Personally I liked the Jasmine, as the flavour was strong and thirst quenching.
The oolong was ok but not strong enough for me.

I love office areas as they are always deserted in the evenings so if you want peace and quiet, here is the place to go.
Sat on the roof top so it was quite hot but luckily there was a fan to cool us down.

For drinks, had the pina colada which was refreshing but not too heavy or sweet with real pineapple juice in it.
I would have had the Virgin bloody mary but I didn't see it earlier.

The food menu looked good but the heat just made me lose my appetite a bit.
In the end I had the ribs which turned out to be yummy as the smoky sauce was good and the meat was fresh and came off the bones easily.
But I felt even more hungry after that!!!!



The avocado mango salad was funny though as they used guacamole for avocado.
Judging by the ribs, the roast spring chicken should be good and the curry could possibly be good if it is Indian style.

There are so many joints on this street and I am currently going to try each one.
Le Hea Rice does not have many options so I had the luncheon meat with egg in curry sauce and rice.
On the menu, there was also a blue ribbon sandwich which I never would have guessed was ham and cheese or I would definitely have chosen it.

Normally, you get these boring clear packets with chopsticks but the one here was black and fun!
I wonder if they had Superman too.
I was really happy with my simple luncheon meat in curry sauce because the curry sauce tasted exactly like the ones in China Town.
This is a joint that I will remember.
