To be honest, I have never liked anything from hoixe, especially the egg tarts and weird butter cakes that never go moldy after months of sitting on the desk!!!
Anyway, tried the black forest cake which was surprising good especially the chocolate sponge cake base.
I didn't eat the chocolate cream though as it was just some weird emulsion and not fresh cream.
There were no cherries in it either but some sort of jelly to acting as cherries.
I assumed I didn't like their bakeries because they are different from European cakes but when I was looking at their cakes from outside, some locals said their cakes make them puke which is interesting so it isn't just me.
To be honest, this cake should be called a chocolate cake as there are no cherries in it at all.

[Review 6732] Western style cafe @ 有機廚房 UG Kitchen

Previously this spot used to be Kravins but it is now UG Cafe even though they still use the old Kravin sleeves for the cups.
Anyway, I was in the area and needed a real tea so got some tea from here.
It was Jasmine tea by Liptons which had a nice fresh Jasmine Taste.
Basically it was plain tea so it was thirst quenching but I had to wait for it to cool down first.
There are other branches in HK.
Visited the one in Central and the food is totally different serving Chinese food.
Some secret party going on here!

Discovered this joint on social media so decided to try it out.
As expected, it was full of people so we got a table on the corner.
There was quite a lot of choices for food.
The tortilla was interesting as it was Spanish so tried it to see how it compares to the real thing.
Started with drinks and I loved the avo snow which was like a smoothie made with creamy avocado topped with nuts.
The best thing was that it was not too sweet.

My friend had the berries soda.

For mains, we had scrambled eggs with mushrooms which was nicely done.
The star of the show was the tortilla which was slightly different with creamy avocado in it which makes it not so boring and does not contain starch like potatoes do.
Finished with the red velvet cake which had a modern twist to it as you could taste rose in the cake base.
A nice place to relax and get away from the crowd near the MTR Station.

The Jaffa cake is basically a layer of Genoise sponge base, a layer of orange jelly coated in chocolate.
In 2016, Marks and Spencers had the Dark chocolate and Cherry Jaffa cake which tasted like blackforest cake but the cherry jelly was not tart enough.
Now they have this new Raspberry Jaffa Cake which I decided to try as well, there is also lemon and lime which I hope to try later.
The raspberry is really fragrant and quite tart compared to the cherry so I really liked it.

There are now three branches of CCG in Hong Kong, the first branch is in WC, with the second in HH and now the third in QB.
As a fan of CCG, I decided to try it out.
The only thing this branch didn't have was rice!!!!!!!!!!
As for the dumplings they were just as good as the other branches, perhaps better than HH as the dumplings in HH were oily.
I tried the cabbage for the first time and it was really nice as there was some salty flavour to it with a fragrant sesame oil flavour to it.
The rest of the dumplings were consistently good, but I went late in the afternoon which could be the reason.
As I say QB is always a stupid food warzone with not enough food joints to cope so they can get away serving crap at rocket prices.

Hong Kongers love hotpots but it can be quite unhealthy because all the fats and oils are dispersed in the hotpot when the meats are being cooked and then soaked up by vegetables and tofu which are then eaten.
Yeungsumdin is slightly healthier in the sense that the broth has lots of Chinese medicine.
But anyway, hotpots can be healthy depending on what items you pick.
I mainly had vegetables as I was there to drink the broth more than hotpot!!
The only thing that wasn't healthy was the fried luncheon meat.
The beancurd sheets were the best, they were soft and silky while the mountain yam had a nice crunch.
I chose the silky chicken broth with dong gwai and there is half a chicken in the broth that you can eat.
The broth gets stronger when the flavours of the Chinese herbs come out so it is better to drink the broth later and I did not refill any broth as I didn't want it diluted.
For carbs, I had the mountain yam noodles.
The ducks blood was nice and spicy!!
I wish they had rice but anyway will come back again for a different broth and see if they have it.

In every Asian cuisine there will be some form of noodles with beef.
Taiwan has the famous Taiwanese beef noodles, then you have Vietnamese pho, Thai boat noodles with beef, Guizhou beef noodles and so on.
Well Hong Kong has beef brisket noodles!!!!
This restaurant specializes in beef brisket noodles but the name strangely does not reflect that.
After having Chua Lam's pho, I suddenly had a craving for beef noodles so went here as I was in SSP.
I know it is totally different but I just wanted some flat rice noodles with beef.
Strangely, the broth was bland as I am used to being shocked by over salty stuff on the dark side of Kowloon but it wasn't which makes it really healthy for the elderly.
They have a homemade XO sauce which is really good and compliments the noodles well.
Also tried the beef brisket curry with efu noodles.
The curry was super hot so be warned.
Overall a nice joint in SSP as the staff were polite but the joint can get a bit noisy as HKers are loud!
