Cheesy omelette rolls

There are two Oppas in TST, Angry Oppa and Oppa Coffee Bar.
Oppa Coffee Bar was hidden in one of the lanes and it took me quite a while to find it.
It reminded me of Korean Street in London, where all the Korean Eateries are as the staff spoke good English.

The menu is slightly different so I chose the items that are not available at Angry Oppa.

As it was lunch, had the clams soup with rice which was filling.

The star of the show was the cheesy omelette which was covered in julienne cabbage.
The pairing of cheese and egg was just delicious.

The rolls were really fragrant drizzled in delicious sesame oil, it was sinfully rich with crab tomalley but the crunchy carrots and cucumber helped balance that.

I am so glad I stumbled across this gelato shop on the way to dinner.
The gelato wasn't really labelled so I had to ask but they were really nice and gave out samples.
There was a good variety of flavours like black sesame, white sesame and mango which locals can relate too.
For me, I fell in love with the caramel because it was sweet with a strong caramel as well as vanilla taste.
You could visually see vanilla seeds in it.
The texture was smooth and elastic which was impressive but not as elastic as Turkish icecream.
Also tried earl grey and chocolate which are sorbets and not gelatos.
Strangely I found the earl grey sweeter than the caramel as it was syrupy.
As well as 3italiani doing chocolate sorbets, you can also get it here.
There was a unique cheese and tomato gelato which was quite nice because it was topped with tomato jam and there was a great savoury twist to it.
Will definitely return if they launch any more exciting flavours.

Cute tea shop on the corner

Discovered this tea shop on the corner.
It was cute and pink with lots of choices but as it was hot I opted for plain tea which quenches thirst better.
I asked for it without sugar so it turned out just the way I liked it.
The Jasmine was strong with a nice slight bitter sweet aftertaste.
The size was good too especially when you are on the go.
Will come back and try the sparkling series.
The only complaint was the bin outside with cig butts which was polluting the place.

There are two Favilla Cafes in Hong  Kong, Favilla Cafe@Yamataka (Wanchai) and Favilla @ Tai Koo.

It is interesting, that the same green teas cost more at Tai Koo so I am lucky I tried this place first.
Had the Strawberry lychee green tea which was very fragrant.
It was good that it was not sweetened so you just get the sweet aroma and the grassiness from the green tea leaves.

For hot drinks, it would be good if they gave a sleeve for the cup as the cup was too to hold.

More food options in Kwai Hing

Many years ago, KH is a depressing place to work.
In those days, you would find these weird office units pretending to be restaurants and people would smoke in there.
The smoking ban changed that but the food scene didn't.
There was something holding it back when lots of other places like Lai Chi Kok and Kwun Tong have evolved with more eateries!!

A decade later, there is finally some change hence young people are lucky these days while those old folks who have been working in that area all their life get the changes in their senior years.
But anyway, in HK, rarely do people stay in their job for more than 10 years as there is no loyalty or seniors get kicked out as they are too costly for the company.

Anyhow, those old folks are only concerned about earning their daily bread so they couldn't care less about healthy, hearty and delicious food.
The good thing is that KH has become more diverse than before hence there is a better variety for other cuisines.

I am so glad Hana Musubi is everywhere as I keep falling for their musubis.

This time I fell for the Taco Rice which I knew I was going to like because it is a bit like chili con carne.

As expected, I really liked it.
Imagine chili con carne in musubi form, it was filled with minced meat in the middle.
There was a subtle cumin and chili taste which made it delicious.
I don't know what other new musubis they will will bring out next time but I think I will definitely fall for it again.

Previously this spot used to be Caffe Diemme but now it is a POKE joint.

POKE is typically raw tuna (ahi) cubes marinated with sea salt, a small amount of soy sauce, inamona (roasted crushed candlenut), sesame oil, limu seaweed, and chopped chili pepper.

As well as POKE, they had BBQ chicken poke bowls which is probably on the menu for locals who do not eat raw stuff.

I ordered the AHI TUNA POKE thinking it would be tuna in soy sauce but the sauce was creamy.
It wasn't what I was expecting because raw tuna and creamy sauce just didn't go well together.
The rice wasn't even soft so I ended up just eating the tuna.

To be honest, I would have been better off ordering the customized bowls where you can choose your proteins and sauces but again, the rice was hard and undercooked that day.

I was given the salmon pokkorito which had buckwheat noodles dressed in Wasabi mayo.
Again the rice was too hard and I just didn't have the heart to tell them as I could feel their passion but the rice which is part of the main ingredient was not soft enough.

It has been at least 5 years since I had buffet here!
The thing that hasn't changed is its popularity as it is always packed with people. They have oysters, lobsters, Alaskan crab legs, sushi and sashimi hence the reason why Hong Kongers love it.
My favourite is the Indian selection because I just love curries.
All of them were quite spicy and it was good they had soft and fluffy Indian Rice.
Tried the sushi which was fresh especially the salmon.
On the Chinese side, I had the Korean Ginseng soup which was really impressive as it had the glutinous rice in the soup.
Left some room for dessert as they had so many Movenpick flavours and toppings for pancakes.
I love the tangerine pieces and dinky eggtarts which were not too sweet.
Will definitely come again.
