Reliably good

I have had countless meals here because it is affordable and delicious! Not sure how long this restaurant can stay here until someone there retires or the street gets redeveloped as Wanchai is getting a new look.
The interior of this restaurant is fascinating as there are some Western elements in it.

To finish a satisfying meal, the silky tofu floating in sweet syrup is always served.
It looks sweet but it is not and the tofu is soft and silky with a strong soy bean taste.

Marine has only just soft opened and it was packed over the weekend with people celebrating moon festival.

I liked the vase on the table as it had some pretty purple crystals at the bottom.

On the seafood side, they have wine pairing options or you can just order oysters.

I had the oyster tasting set so that I could sample different oysters.
They were fresh so I didn't really need the lemon or sauce.

It depends which oysters you like but I liked the strong tasting ones with a briny taste of the sea.
Next was the parma ham and melon, I loved the juicy sweet melon contrasted by the savoury ham slices.

The cold cuts and cheese platter was good for sharing.
I was hoping for more different cheeses.

Last but not least was the APPLE Risotto!!!!
I ordered it because it was creative.

There were chunks of apple in it which were tangy and appetizing but I think it would taste better without the butter.

Definitely recommended for big gatherings as the tables are spacious and there are lots of stuff that are good for sharing.

Went here for lunch but somehow dessert was more attractive because they had apple and blackberry crumble.
I was impressed to see that it had blackberry as Hong Kong rarely has this so I wonder if there would be blackberries in it or at least some frozen ones.

Started with the salad which was ok.
Strangely there was a poached egg on top.
The apple crumble was quite modern in presentation as the crumble was more like blobs of pastry and not crumble.
Anyway, it tasted good but I couldn't find any blackberry in it.
More Custard would have been good and I appreciate the British items on the menu.

Omnipork in Shanghai Pan Fried Buns

There are so many plant based meats around but Omnipork is a brand developed in Hong Kong.

The first time I ordered it was at Kind Kitchen where it was in patty form stuck to a lotus root slice and pan fried.
I decided to try the Pan Fried Buns here because they were using Omnipork in them.

The only complaint was the Pastry as it was too dry and hard as if they were made and left there for a while before anyone ordered them.
Inside the filling was juicy just like the meat version.
Apart from the dryness of the pasty, I would be happy to order this again as Hong Kong meat is not fresh and they stink unless you go to high end restaurants.

Back for dumplings

Since my last visit, I have been craving for dumplings.
There is something special about their dumplings when you look at them.
They basically look like perfectly wrapped tortellini but Shanghai style filled with minced meat and vegetables.
Initially I wanted to order the vegetarian ones but they were sold out so had the standard ones with the set.

The prawn omelette was really good as it had a fragrant egg taste and the prawns were springy.
Next were the dandan noodles and drunken chicken, another classic option that never goes wrong.

Overall, a satisfying lunch but will return for dinner as the menu offers more than just noodles and wontons.

May your [wishes] come true

I was thirsty so dropped by for some tea and I seem to recognize one of the guys from this other tea shop in MK where they serve teas with swirling glitter.
The [HOPE] was recommended on the menu so ordered that.
After I ordered the hope tea.

The guy gave me a piece of paper and asked me to write what I wanted.
I thought he didn't understand what I wanted so I wrote "no ice, no sugar".
He looked at me weirdly and asked me if it was no ice and no sugar so I said that it was correct.
When I got my tea I realized what I wrote was printed on the foam cap!!
So my wish came true I suppose...no ice and no sugar!!
It really wasn't obviously to me at that point when they asked me to write down what I wanted because I really thought they meant my order but it was my [WISH].
There is a difference between {hope} and {wish} but anyway I liked this gimmick!

Also tried the Jasmine Orange Tea which was really good, there was a strong orange juice taste in it and it was not too sweet.

Noodles in Lo Shui Broth

I was drawn here because this shop specializes in LoShui Noodles.
There are two branches and I think this is the new one.
Anyway, I got the house special which has loshui tofu, radish, fishballs with fruit peel and beef belly.

Tried the broth first and it was quite nice but a bit too weak from what I had imagined.
It was topped with salty raw onions which strangely was the thing that saved the noodles.
[Imagine Salted McDonalds finely chopped onions, that is what they taste like.]
The noodles were the wonton type so I didn't like it as I only like the egg noodles because it didn't absorb the broth so they were tasteless.
As for the other toppings, the beef was tough and dry for beef belly and the tofu was the best so I wish I had just ordered a different noodle with tofu and it would have been cheaper.
