It's been a while since I have been to Yo Mama at IFC.
This is the new location as they used to be at the footbridge near the ferry piers.
I was captivated by the new Hong Kong Style flavours with matching toppings like coffee jelly and condensed milk.
For Halloween, they are also doing pumpkin froyo where you can really taste the cinnamon.
Got the Tea with Coffee Jelly and extra condensed milk.
It tasted really good and just how Hong Kong style milk tea does.The extra condensed milk took away that signature bitterness while the coffee made it taste like yinyang.

I know this place is famous for Spicy pots with skewers but the lunch menu is also good.

During lunch, they serve noodles and rice.
There are four broth choices and I was captivated by the spicy soup and the herbal soup.
As there were four of us, we had two noodles and two rices.
We chose our noodles and toppings with thought.
For the herbal one ordered okra, fresh mountain yam and bamboo pith with it.
The herbal taste was good especially the donggwai.


For the spicy broth, wanted to order the wide purple potato noodles but they were sold out so ordered the black noodles with ducks blood, spam and Sichuan preserved sausages.
The Sichuan preserved sausages are worth trying as you can't really find them in HK.
They are thinner than the HK ones and taste the same.
For the rices, both were annoyingly delicious especially the spam fried rice as the cubes of spam were crispy.
The other rice was different but I like the pork as it was thinly sliced and fried like bacon so it was slightly crispy yet lean with a smoky Sichuan flavour.
Finished with a refreshing soda.
Will be back but deciding what to have is difficult as the ones we picked all taste good.

Discovered this bakery as I decided not to take the main road.
The cabinet looked appealing with lots of pastries.
Got the blueberry donut which looked like those defrosted ones with the telltale jam injection holes.
Also got the durian and egg yolk pastry.
The blueberry donut was just the usual.
Didn't like the durian puff because it wasn't fresh durian inside.
The egg yolk pastry fared the best because there was starchy egg custard in the middle and a big piece of salted egg yolk.
The pastry was a little dry but it didn't have a nasty lard taste to it.

The avocado toastie looked great on the flyer so decided to get one.

It was only $17 but the catch is that you get one side of the 6inch sub.
To be honest, I need two to fill me but the portion should be enough for people with bird size stomachs!!
I think the toastie is difficult for them to wrap as the paper just sticks to the filling since it is an open toast.
Anyway, the toastie was too hot for me to handle when I got it yet the bread part was soft and floppy making it difficult to eat.
It would be great if they could just toast the bread part for a while until it has a toastie texture rather than just toasting the bun with avocado at the same time to save time.

Apart from it being messy to eat, it was quite delicious as there were no sauces which makes it healthy.

I love desserts but sometimes desserts can be overly sweet.
When the sweetness is just right, it hits the spot.

At Sweet Point Dessert, there are so many items to choose from.

There are waffles, icecream, souffle pancakes and many other items.
Tried the souffle pancake which is trending now and the ice cream rolls which I haven't had in ages.

There is a motto saying:
Life is like a dessert, eat it before it melts..............

The souffle pancake came first and it was plump and soft.
The texture of the souffle pancake is just like eating souffle and mousse that melts in your mouth.

The best thing was that it was not too sweet and heavy.
As it wasn't very filling I didn't feel that guilt factor eating it.

Next was the sea salt icecream rolls.

It was topped with candyfloss for decoration.
I loved the texture of the icecream because it reminded me of mastic Turkish icecream which has a high elasticity and the taste was slightly savoury with a lovely creaminess.
Again, it was not too sweet.
Will definitely be back as they said they will have some new items soon.

Since my last visit, there are so many new items on them menu.
I was tempted to try the cheese fondue which was melted cheese inside a toast cube but then the shaved ice was also captivating so I ordered that.
The shaved ice is served in a traditional clay pot that is used for cooking claypot dishes!

The presentation was interesting because normally you would find hot dishes in the pot but it was dessert.
It makes me wonder if the clay pot is also functional in keeping the shaved ice cold.
The oolong tea was quite refreshing as well as thirst quenching.
It didn't seem to melt that fast so I guess the pot was keeping it cool.
Finished with the grapefruit tea.
Will be back for the cheese fondue.

It is really difficult getting good donuts but Great Food Hall is a good option as they have lots of different donuts, scones and pastries etc.
Got the French Crueller, Bomblini and Raspberry Donut.
Devoured the French Crueller imediately, it was nice but I wasn't very fond of it because it was moist and eggy in the middle.
The bomblini and donut was a surprise, I had them the next day and there was no oiliness or rancid oil taste to it.
The doughnut was perfectly fluffy and and soft while the filling complimented it nicely.
