Was shopping in the area so stopped by for some TEA.
Strangely they had HK style milk tea so ordered it along with Japanese tea.
The Japanese tea was ok, it had the usual grassy taste.
The tea on ice tastes like the usual HK milk tea so hkers should love it.
However it was a bit sweet for my liking.
As well as tea, they are serving toasts, crispy pork chop buns to attract the locals.

Thankfully the beautiful autumn is here and Christmas is coming soon.
The best thing is the cooler weather in Hong Kong which makes me more energetic.
At La Scala, they are doing the Maple and Crab buffet with Augmented reality experience if you download the app!!
Every guest that dines here will get a baked surf clam with snow crab paste when they present the complimentary dish card to the counter.
As well as the seafood which there were so many other things to eat like Chinese roast.
The congee was my favourite as they cook it with the crab which gives it a lovely flavour.
In the dessert section, there was so much to choose from but I loved the maple puffs which were crispy and not too sweet.

I don't often hang out in TST but as the weather is getting cooler I don't mind al fresco dining but it is on the corner of the road so you do get some fumes.
Anyway, I was lucky my friend booked this place as it was practically full.
Sat on the corner so it was relatively quiet.
The menu was in English and Chinese and there were some interesting items like fried pigs ears.
Ordered the seafood platter which turned out to be a delicious big pan of bouillabaise where the broth was tasty and full of seafood flavour.
The seafood was fresh and the lobster was springy.
The next striking dish was the slow cooked octopus with squid ink mash.
I loved it because the mash was buttery infused with a nice squid ink flavour.
Dessert was really comforting and I am so glad I chose the burnt rice pudding.
It was thick and creamy contrasted by burnt sugar in every mouthful.
Definitely will remember this place next time I am in TST.

I am not really a palmier person but the box was cute and the palmiers came in lots of flavours like matcha, purple potato etc.
Each palmier had generous filling rolled inside.
You can buy them individually at $8 each so I got three flavours that I thought I was going to like.

Earl Grey: Too sweet and the Earl Grey tasted like artificial oil essence.
Purple Potato: It was pretty but that was it, it didn't really impress
Salted Egg: This was really disgusting, cloying sweet as well as salty.
For savoury flavours, I think they should taste completely savoury because the sweetness kills it.
I have tried cheese palmiers before which were just savoury and they tasted damn good.

Peruvian cravings satisfied

I love Peruvian food but I cannot get enough of it in Hong Kong as there are not many around.
Peruvian food revolves around unique ingredients like purple corn, chocla, ceviches and colourful sweet potatoes.
At ICHU, the decor takes you to the Aztec times ruled by the Inca Empire.
Beginning my Peruvian dinner journey I started with the CHICHA MORADA which is a concoction of Purple Corn, Pineapple Skin, Apple, Spices.
It was rich in ruby colour and refreshing in taste.
For appetizers, began with the PALTA QUEMADA (Charred Avocado, Aji Limo, Tomato) which was black in appearance.
The avocado was coated with black dusting filled with tomato puree in the middle.
Next were the ceviches, these are popular appetizers with a Japanese influence.
There are so many different options with a choice of snapper, yellow tail and even tenderloin.
PEZ LIMON (Yellow Tail, Yuzu Vinaigrette, Corn)
CLASICO (Snapper, Choclo, Red Onion, Sweet Potato)
TARTAR DE LOMO CON MAIZ (Tender Loin, Corn, Carob Molasses, Chives)
As well as ceviche, the beef short rib COSTILLAS DE RES was so soft and the meat literally melted in your mouth.
It was covered in this delicious strong seco sauce which seemed to be laced with cumin.
Dessert was also good, the QUESO DE CARBRA cheesecake really surprised me as it was made with goat cheese and it was not heavy at all as the texture was soft and silky, not dense at all.
There was a fragrant creamy taste to it topped with raspberry and Quinoa.
Also had the TRES LECHE which was cake soaked in three different milks hence the name Tres Leches.
However there was a Peruvian twist to it with carrot sorbet which makes it memorable and I loved the meringue crackers on top.
Overall, all the dishes were perfect from beginning to end and will definitely be back for another gathering.

[Review 6911] My new place to hang out @ Coffee by Zion

Shop 1, G/F, 83 First Street, Sai Ying Pun, Western District

I had planned to stay longer at Coffee by Zion but there was a MTR meltdown that day which wasted some of my time.
If you get the MTR to SaiYingPun, you will find that Coffee by Zion is just opposite one of the exits.
There were so many items that I wanted to try.
I was impressed they had GOTHLATTE on the menu as not many people know what GOTH is in Hongkong.
They always associate it with Lolita which is something else.
The Zion Burger was tempting as it had almost everything from pastrami, bacon, cheese, egg but as I was having another meal afterwards, I got the salmon foccaccia and the mint chocolate.
After I ordered, I spotted the Honey Cake in the cabinet so had that as well because not many places have it.
Honey cake is a Russian Cake.
The smoked salmon foccaccia was so damn good because there were pickled cucumbers and beetroot spread, the ingredients all went together nicely and not just some lame salmon with cream cheese.
The honey cake was just as good as the one I had DACHA in Central with bits of walnuts in it.
To finish, had the mint chocolate which was smooth and sweet.
I liked the way it had latte art on top even though it wasn't coffee.
Hope to come back again and crash out a bit longer.

Only tried this as I was in the area.
There are about 5 tea shops in a row and frankly the graphics stood out and as a tea person chose this one.
On the menu, you can choose pure tea or healthy drinks with peach gum and other fancy items.
Ended up choosing B5 because you don't often see White Peony Sau Mei Tea with APRICOT KERNEL AND COCONUT.
This tea joint also stands out because they mix the teas at the counter like the mixiologists do at trendy cocktail bars!
When I got my tea, it was visually appealing.
You could see a big chunk of coconut, peach gum and apricot kernels at the bottom.
Unfortunately, all I could taste was the sweetness and nothing else, not even the tea.
I would have been better off ordering TEA ONLY.
