Nitro Earl Grey

I was hot and bothered at the Wine and Dine Fest until I had the Nitro Brew Earl Grey which put me back in a good mood.
Basically it was Earl Grey Tea to another dimension as it was fizzy so it was creamy and smooth yet it didn't have any milk in it.
The secret lies in the Earl Grey sweetener they used which gave it that extra Earl Grey all rounded boost.
As well as the tea, I also had the Coffee which was inspired by the Taiwanese Messy Bun!

Must try milkshake

I'm not a fan of Bingsuts or chachanntengs but went here with some locals who said the items on the menu reminded them of the past. For me, I was looking for something edible, but almost everything under the sun was sold out like the roast chicken.
Most of the drinks that use Trappist were sold out as the supplies were not delivered to the store.

Anyway, settled for two milkshakes, a HK Style French toast and ox tail with rice.

The French Toast which had ham and cheese in the middle was still weirdly served with butter and syrup.

The taste was ok but just expect the usual processed cheese in the middle.
The oxtail and rice was ordered by my friend who loved it because it had the typical Chinese taste, eg sweet!!!

The milkshakes were the star of the show especially the vanilla and caramel which made this visit a worthwhile one.

It wasn't too sweet and it contained wheatgerm which made it comforting because it tasted like those cereal drinks.
As an expat, I only recommend the milkshakes.

Hotpots at Aroi Thai

Hongkongers just love hotpots so it makes sense for a Thai restaurant to serve Thai hotpots when there is a hotpot specialist in MK specializing in Thai hotpots.
At Aroi Thai, there is a choice of coconut chicken or tomyumkung which both come with meatballs and meat etc.

As well as hotpots, we had other stuff.
There were two dishes with fishmaw as it was someones favourite.
The sizzling beef with green peppercorns and fishmaw and the crabmeat and fishmaw glass vermicelli pot.
My favourite was the green mango salad with the creative pairing of crispy Hiroshima oysters.
Finished with the pineapple fried rice which acted as a nice filler.

Not  fan of Chinese food but I actually liked this place because the food was not overpriced and it was healthy.
The tomato, beef and egg was really good even though there was not much egg in it but I ordered it because of the tomato sauce.
On another time, had the taro with fish fillets, the taro was not soft enough but they didn't really use MSG which was appreciated.
Sadly, I don't think I will be here in the near future as the location is just off the radar.

Went to Wine and Dine 2018 which is bigger and better that there are four sections.
The drunken pot was there and they had this trio bowl with all my three favourites: blood jelly, stinky tofu and fish maw.
They were all tasty but a bit to spicy as they have been simmering in the pot for quite a long time.
Also tried the barley drink which was quite sweet so it help sooth the spiciness.

[Review 6996] Great cafe but food was disappointing @ Living Art Cafe

Living Art Cafe was one of the filming scenes for Blue Veins so if you have been watching it you would definitely recognise it.
I haven't really made an effort to try as the menu is rather boring but it is a good place to spend your afternoon if you are looking for a non busy quiet place to chat.

The cake which was supposed to be a red velvet was not, it was strawberry mousse with layers of red velvet cake and the strawberry mousse tasted exactly like those artificial strawberry milkshakes but in mousse form.
The cake layers were soggy.
The salmon croissant was burnt and crunchy all the way through.
The salmon made it worse as it had gone off hence it was rather fishy.
It would have made more sense to just order the cheese and tomato croissant if I knew it was going to be like that.
The only thing that saved the day was the mao jan tea which was strong and had a nice grassy taste.

[Review 6995] Quirky Restaurant @ Mamaday

This restaurant is called Mamaday as in the phonics for mamaday and not related to Mama.
In Chinese, MAMADAY means average or so so.
When I got there, I was really delighted at their decor and the menu was entertaining.
There is not a boring spot at the restaurant.
The a la carte was creative and one of the items in Chinese says "Grandma skin"!!
It is quite interesting that they give you some black pepper edamame to start with.
As it was lunchtime, I decided to go for the lunch menu as it might be quicker.
I had the XO Sauce Egg noodles with Tiger Prawns.
I was quick with taking a picture as I was hungry but the noodles were cold all the way through and in the centre so I assumed they were chilled noodles.
The XO sauce was a bit disappointing as it just tasted like Thai Sweet garlic sauce and the noodles were cloyingly sweet with a powerfully strong taste.
Not advised for lunch as you are left with an embarrassing garlic breath the whole day.
Finished with the red tea which was a surprise as it turned out to be Earl Grey.
Although the noodles were not as expected, I think I should give the a la carte another chance as it is more captivating with things like squid ink prawn roe noodles and purple risotto.
