Hideout for SMO KAS

Went here a while ago as I haven't tried it before.
Had the signature croissant which is basically two croissants, one is drizzled with sweet stuff and the other was savoury with a side of salad in the middle and a baked mushroom.
Also had the pistachio Italian thing which was cloyingly sweet and heavy.
Definitely a great place to hangout because you can smell ciggy smoke.
There is a collection box for it too!

[Review 7103] It's coconuts here @ 椰小盅燉湯專門店 Coconut-Soup

Basically everything is coconuts here, all their soups are served in a coconut!
My food took ages to come so I was wondering if they didn't have any spare coconut shells after discovering a comment by the previous person on the comment card that they discovered something in their food.
Luckily mine was ok and you could feel their passion and pride with the food.
The soup was too sweet for my liking and the brown rice was rather heavy.
Also had the steamed buns which turned out quite cute.
One of them was shaped like a peanut which was filled with crushed peanuts in the middle.
The plain bun was just a plain bun.

Went here ages ago and I was impressed by their Signature fish dish!!
It isn't too spicy and the fish was very different in the sense that it had been coated before it was fried so it has a silky coating to it.
Also had the sweet and sour pork with aged citrus peel.
I found this too sweet but was nice how every piece of pork was shaped like a ball.
Last but not least was the pea sprouts topped with crab roe and balsamic vinegar pearls!
Will definitely come back for the fish but booking is required as this place is always packed.

Even though The Alchemist has been around since 2012 , it was my first time dining here.
It is located between Prince Edward and Sham Shui Po on a quiet street.
When you go in, it feels like you are not in Hong Kong as the decor and setting is totally different and the place is spacious with tables spaced out nicely.
The menu did not disappoint, there was so much choice for drinks and food that expats would love.
I had a real hard time deciding as there was warm potato and seafood salad and conchiglie pasta on the menu but in the end I had the Tortilla with cheese and tomato salad.
It was definitely a great pairing of warm soft tortilla with cheese and tomato.
Also had the salmon sliders which came in a crispy black bun.
My Asian friend had the fried chicken curry which came as a huge portion with soup too.
For drinks, I fell for the kiwi cucumber yoghurt which reminded me of Indian Raita.
The taste was light and refreshing so I was really glad I chose it.
Also had the oolong tea by Teapigs which did not fail to impress as the tea leaf flavour was strong and not grassy.
Will definitely come again as this place is a nice sanctuary in Kowloon.

Indulging Omakase with knives and forks!

Omakase is basically a surprise, the Chef will create a dinner for you using his creative skills.
The ones I have had in the past in Japanese restaurants revolve around sushi and sashimi but at Le Bec Fin, there is a European twist hence the French name.
I was really excited in trying it out as the current trend of Western culinary with Japanese ingredients is the current trend just like HAKU.
Le Bec Fin is headed by Chef Hisa who used to work at the Japanese Embassy in Hong Kong.
Chef Hisa uses premium food ingredients using Western culinary artistry so you get to indulge in a totally memorable experience from modern presentation to using knives and forks instead of chopsticks.
Quite a lot of the dishes are cooked in the bichotan oven with charcoal from Japan.
Started with the eel sushi which was perfectly grilled.
In between the eel and the rice was this velvety foie gras butter.
Next was the [foie gras oeuf en cocotte] chanwamushi which had two layers.
It was silky and smooth infused with foie gras.
The French onion soup was the best I have had, it was clear but strong loaded with onions topped with padano cheese.
The bone marrow was glazed with miso butter which was perfect with the baguette slices.
Next was the Grilled Spanish Red Prawn which was crisp and sweet.
I was pleased with more [Linguine Gamberi]
The last savoury dish was Sukiyaki + Mushroom.
Beef and mushroom always make a great pairing in every cuisine and the Japanese mushrooms were the best part having absorbed all the beef and sukiyaki flavours.
Dessert was memorable when the chef used the cocktail shaker to concoct the melon sauce.
Melon Blancmange:
The dessert was definitely a memorable finish, rarely will you see a chef in an Omakase restaurant with a cocktail shaker.

I was captivated by the dan dan noodle poster at this joint so ordered it.
When it came, I was quite surprised it actually looked like the noodles on the product shot.
The prawn was obviously placed there to garnish just like the picture.
Anyway, the broth was thick and heavy with a lot of peanuts in it but too sweet for my liking.
The noodles were good but went soft too quickly and because the broth was too sweet, the noodles ended up too sweet for my liking.

[Review 7098] Vegan Turkey vs Turkey @ Marks & Spencer

I love Christmas especially the food during that period.
There is a lot of chestnuts, cranberries, cinammon etc at play.
At Marks and Spencers, they had Pigs in Blanket sandwich which is trending in UK.
Almost everything is pigs in blanket from pizzas, crisps to tea bags!
On the Vegetarian side, they had NO TURKEY sandwich so I got both to try.
====
Pigs in Blanket:
In this sandwich, there was turkey, sausages, cranberries and bacon.
Basically all my favourites so how could I not like it!
=====
NO TURKEY feast:
For the NO TURKEY feast, it has seasoned roasted soya that has been marinated with sage, garlic, salt and pepper.
As well as that, there was delicious cranberry chutney, caramelised onion and sage dressing and fresh spinach.
It was definitely delicious and I wouldn't have suspected it was was vegetarian.
The only drawback is the price so if you happen to be in UK next Christmas, do try it out!
